US Men's National Team (10 Viewers)

The Yanks made history today

=======================

[OptaJohan] 3-2 – PSV are the first side ever to win a Champions League game in regular time after trailing by two goals in the 86th minute. Bonkers.

Tillman has won back to back Champions League Man of the Matches.

I am going to assume this is the first time that has ever happened for a US player but I don't know for sure.

I wonder if PSV is going to get some requests for Tillman soon?

Fabrizio fanning the flames that Pepi will be in play for a move this winter.
I mean, he's the perfect off-season rumor candidate. Not enough minutes, established vet in front of him, lots of goals in limited time. I'd think most forwards in Holland fit that bill.

I actually like him staying there- feel like the quality of his runs and consistent ability to finish has improved over there. Plus, de Jong is like 499 years old... Pepi has deserved the increase in starts and minutes this year (eye test... Haven't looked at stats) and is there if/when de Jong gets dinged or goes off form.
I think if he stays there, he's a good bet to lead the Eredivisie in goals next season. Kind of wish there was somewhere to place a bet on that before the theoretical odds come down too much.

Maybe he could break Jozy's record.
Looks like my prediction wasn't as much of a hot take as I thought. Even this season, where he's the clear backup, he's listed at between 16/1 and 20/1 to lead the league in goals. De Jong is close to even money, which is where I'd expect Pepi to end up if he takes over as the starter next season.
Now down to 4/1 odds for this season

This is really good news. He turns 18 in a couple of days so he is still quite young as a CB

Jess Thorup (FC Augsburg Manager) when asked in his press conference whether Noahkai Banks would be in the first team squad this weekend

"Noahkai Banks will be in the squad. He improved a lot for the u23s, and adapted very good to the first Team Training. He is on a good path."

I keep reviewing the list each time wondering who should be removed and who should be added.

I feel like we are getting very close to removing Dujuan Jones and Alana Sonora, with Mihailovic and Cannon close behind. Cannon has not been called up in over 2 years, even with Dest hurt.

With Lund fading and Tolkin possibly getting a move to Europe soon, I think I would add Tolkin to the 2002's

Just edited to add Tolkin. Will be a bit slower to remove people...we've had surprising blasts from the past before.

My wildest fantasy comes true Sunday morning...

6:15am Utrecht-PSV Eindhoven game on ESPN+

I love everything about this

Should be a great top of the table clash with many Yanks :)

I am very interested to see if Pepi can get two league starts in a row. I am not expecting it but I am hoping.

In what seems like another addition to the never ending list of things Poch needs to figure out is how in gods name can Tillman be leading EVERY player in the entire Champions League in chances created and still have 0 goals and 0 assists for the US in 17 caps.

Solution... Move the USMNT to the Eredivisie
The post was about Champions League not Eredivisie.

I can understand the big stats our players get in Eredivsie. But doing so in the Champions League but not against Concacaf just kills me.

Paderborn is currently 4 points clear at the top of the Bundie 2 table. 20 year old US midfielder from Florida, Santiago Castenada has started every game this season for them.

From Opta

Christian Pulisic (23 goals, 15 assists) is the only Serie A player to record at least 20 goals and 15 assists in all competitions since the start of the 2023-24 season

Right now his upside seems much greater than Vazquez. If Sargent is healthy come March, the point won't matter but if any of the top three 9's are hurt, I hope Poch would consider him even given he plays at a lower level.

American Ultras Talk

@ameriultrastalk

20 year old Damion Downs once again comes off the bench and makes an impact for Köln, putting them up 2-1 in the 81st minute with his 6th goal of the season

Good news: Tillman, Ledezma and P Aaronson all starting. Pepi and Booth on the bench

Bad News: "Technical difficulties. We will be right back" on ESPN+

Booth in at halftime.

Tillman had a quiet first half until late and then had a nice through ball to Lang and then a goal called offsides.

Ledezma had a good first half at RB, although (as usual for PSV) not much defending needed.

Very quiet first half for Aaronson.

Even quieter first half for De Jong. Forgot he was playing until they mentioned him very late in the half. Beginning to think that age has caught up with him...which has big implications for Pepi.

4 goals for PSV, none from de Jong. Not usually like that.

To be fair, he did play a part in the set up of the 3rd goal (received Ledezma's pass in traffic and got it to Til).

All reports I'm seeing about Milan have been glowing about how the extra MF tactically and specifically Musah in that role has been the difference. He's given them the offense/defense balance chuck and CP haven't been able to do. Reports saying they plan to stick with the tactics and need MF reinforcements for depth... Johnny listed as one of the options.

By all means, keep these reports to yourself.

Will do.
