I'm getting REALLY tired of this guy. He's becoming the Lee Evans of TEs. Anyone benching him or will you continue to roll the dice, never knowing if you get 1 point or 20. :goodposting:

I'm probably going to want to find out how bad his foot is hurt before I even think about that.

Realistically, if he can go he's still a better option than anything I'm going to find on the wire or my other TE (Olsen).

I will say the one pass referenced above where he wasn't looking... he would have gone 50 or so to the house.

Need to see about ankle. My instinct is to stick with him.

Best however, gets the damn pine. :wall:

how bad is the injury

Well Troy Smith was horrible yesterday. They may make the switch to Alex Smith next week. He did well when he was starting.

Injury, QB change??? Watching closely this week.........

So he has one bad game and now we want to bench him? What a clueless post.Davis is no different than any other NFL player. He has good games and bad games. But the difference is the good outweigh the bad. Look at every other upeer-tier TE.Gates had a 2 catch, 12 yard game.Witten had a 1 catch gamePetttigrew had a 1 catch gameKeller has had four 2-catch games. So what do I conclude? He's your normal upper-tier TE.

Well I guess if you call 2.20 a good game (his total 3 weeks ago) then yeah, he's only had one bad game, and my post was clueless. Over the last 4 weeks, he's the 31st highest scoring TE in PPR leagues. I'd call that a legitimate concern.

From Yahoo:

"TE Vernon Davis left Sunday's game with an ankle sprain for the second time this season. Davis said afterward that the injury wasn't serious and he wasn't walking with a limp."

Slightly worried, more for the minor injuries that seem to keep popping up than the performance. I'm fortunate to have a very strong roster with clear cut starters week to week, so I've devoted a few roster slots to TE depth with Hernandez and Jimmy Graham, and may look for another option as well.

Well he's looks healthy now but Troy Smith doesn't target him much at all. I think 3 targets tonight and 3 last week too. Very conservative game plans with him starting at QB.

Vernon is not producing much at all at this point. A tough start.

I posted in the game thread that I don't think you can start either Davis or Crabtree against the Packers next week. Smith has looked horrible the past two games against far worse pass defenses than the one he'll face at Lambeau. I think Davis should be sat next week if you have anything resembling a viable alternative.

Fortunately I have options in my league, and Vernon will be on the bench. I got a win but have seen enough of Troy Smith at QB to bench VD unless I'm completely strapped. Until further notice, change of QB. It's a shame, this guy should be used ala Gates

The Packers have actually given up the 11th most fantasy points to TEs this year, so I'm not really worried about that particular match-up. I'm just worried about Troy Smith in general.

If Smith doesn't throw VD the ball, it doesn't matter how many fantasy points the Packers Defense gives up. 2 catches for 32 yards on 4 attempts just isn't cutting it. I have him on my roster, but there is no way I can feel good about him as my starting TE going into the playoffs. I'm currently exploring other options.
