V. Young era may be starting sooner than later (1 Viewer)

This team is so directionless it's ridiculous.

It's practically still the beginning of the season. Whereever you think his career will end up, nobody thinks VY's ready to play right now. The team was never exactly a playoff contender in that division and conference, so why not let him learn on the sidelines before throwing him into the fire?

It's laughable to me that the premise here is "if Kerry Collins doesn't get on track". The guy's not even been on that team for a month. What do they expect?

Again, what a :tfp:

I really do feel bad for Titans fans. Watching management's handling of the QB this year has been brutal.

While no team wants to throw in the towel after 3 games, I can't imagine that the team has realistic hopes at this juncture.

Young needs all the seasoning he can get - they may as well throw him in there, and hope he can take the growing pains.

Because I got no play from anyone when I posted it, I am pasting below the post I made on a separate thread regarding VY's prospects without McNair.... (Pretty well articulated I'd say considering it was 2:30am after a night of partying)...

Regarding your point about the additional mentoring VY would have had with McNair still there.... Clearly that would have been a perfect scenario; however, I think it is highly likely that VY will shine brightly anyway.... The enormity of the performances he put on in several of the biggest games in UT history cannot not be over blown. Only a particularly rare athlete could produce the level of poise, competitive fire and athleticism required to do what he did. If he avoids injury, I will be suprised if he doesnt turn out to be one of the greats....

One of the best answers to the, "well you aint going no where this year anyway, so what do you have to loose" kinda questions.

You got no play because nobody cares much anymore about what he did in college. College is over. If it meant as much as it did then we'd be talking about when Gino Torretta or Danny Wuerffel will retire so that they'd become eligible for the Hall of Fame. His athleticism and competitive desire are excellent, but he isn't used to being under center and his abilities to operate as a pocket passer need to be refined. I truly don't believe that three weeks into his first regular season for one of the worst teams in the NFL is a good situation to begin that process. If it weren't for the :tfp: that is Oakland right now the prevailing conversation in the NFL right now would be about what a disaster Tennessee is.

My point was that the Gino Torrettas and Danny Wuerffels of the world, despite showing some college greatness of their own, were entirely incapable of mirroring the performances VY produced... Nobody could other than VY himself... I am not anointing him to the hall of fame already- just would surprised if he doesnt get there if he stays healthy.

I've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Vince Young. Ever since the benching of Blooer, the somehow amazing emergence of JP Loserman and the trading of Suckington, there has been a void on really horrific QB play. Even Carr has been able to look good because his team has been eliminated by halftime allowing him to throw passes as the D lets the clock tick to zero.

Should be entertaining.

Good info here.

If they toss in VY their season is done and they may as well play White too.

The comparisons of Vince Young to Akili Smith and Andre Ware are truly ridiculous.

He is a rare athelete, a natural leader and a real student of the game. I have no doubt he will become an excellent NFL QB.

With that said, it is way too early to just throw him in there for "on the job training".

I doubt doing so will have negative consequences for his self confidence in the long run, but it certainly could get him injured.
