Value hits - a true or a fakey? (1 Viewer)

I’ll start us off with a couple. Just answer with “a true” or “fakey” for each.

1. CMC is not the 1.01 as long as Trent Williams is a holdout, as it completely neuters the offensive potential every game he misses.

2. Perine signing with the Chiefs severely caps Pacheco’s ceiling seeing as he’s one of the best receiving backs in the NFL.

3. Ja’Marr Chase is not a safe pick so long as his hold-in continues.

Remember, quote & answer “a true” or “fakey”

Feel free to add your own.

As a Niner fan, hard to argue this will not be a big detriment to the entire offense.
2. Perine signing with the Chiefs severely caps Pacheco’s ceiling seeing as he’s one of the best receiving backs in the NFL.
Perine will definitely get a decent chunk of that backfield. Much better than CHE in every facet of he game and I can't imagine KC wants to run Pacheco into the ground before the playoffs start.
3. Ja’Marr Chase is not a safe pick so long as his hold-in continues.
I would still take him in the first round, but more towards the end. After AJ and maybe Wilson too. I not worried he sits out, so a good opportunity for people in the 10-12 range to get an elite player in that spot. But you have to admit there is risk of him missing games if the staring contest doesn't conclude quickly.

I’m most worried about his receiving profile.

I’m dropping Pacheco a full round in my ranking. I was projecting him based on getting the receptions. Now I’m fully expecting Perine to fill the McKinnon role.

Perine is not “one of the best” receiving backs in the nfl. He is a competent receiving back.

I haven’t seen Chase fall to the end of the first round. He’s gone by pick 8.

Went 10 in our 14 teamer Sunday. Getting there.

I just read some Xwitter analysts posting data that showed he was indeed one of the best on a per target basis. And that was playing with the ghost of Russell Wilson
- you think KC brought him in for some reason other than to be used in the McKinmon role?

Somewhere Andy Reid is laughing at us FF managers for our hubris. Our absolute ignorance in assumptions about how he’d use Pacheco.

ETA: I took my 1st share in the FBG Bowl draft on MN. Was planning on taking a 2nd share tonight when I draft at 5. Nope. Not a chance.

I still like Pacheco, but this kneecaps him for sure. There is zero silver lining here.

Trent Williams is true. It's like Lane Johnson with the Eagles. When that anchor is out, the offense is just not the same.

Perine is nothing. He was cut for a reason. He'll be lucky to see the field without injury.

Anyone that passes on Chase deserves what they get.

False, although I'm also expecting something to get worked out. SF has tons of cap space for this season.

False, Perine's addition doesn't help, but I don't think he's some great talent, and one of the best receiving backs in the NFL is REALLY pushing it. He did a great job last season...in Sean Payton's extremely RB receiving friendly offense, that didn't push the ball downfield at all. It was a pretty big outlier season to the rest of his career.

False, he gains nothing from holding out, and I'm confident he plays week 1.

A few of my own to add:
1. Breece Hall's receptions come crashing down as Aaron Rodgers isn't the checkdown machine Zach Wilson was.

2. Joe Mixon is a sneaky candidate to lead the NFL in rushing TDs, as teams basically play 6-man boxes all year out of fear of Stroud and co.

3. AJ Brown is a sneaky WR1 overall candidate, if he's Kellen Moore's move guy (ala Lamb and Allen), if its Smith, Philly might have 2 top 10 WRs.

False - while true ARod isn’t a check down machine, the Jets will be a competent offense. Not the QB he once was, but much better at extending drives. Jets offense should be more productive. Should
Balance out.

This is a True. Been on this train a while.

You do know that MIA doesn't target TE much, and he's like the ATLEAST the 5th target behind Hill, Waddle, Ache and Mostert. He was TE17 last year, I would bet a large sum of money that he will not be te1 this year.

Perine will take some time to learn the playbook. this doesnt happen overnight.

Pacheco is a decent receiver in his own right but can only play so much. My guess is that perine will play in certain sets likely as the scat back.

I do not know how well Perine blocks. this likely will do as much to determine how much he digs into Pachecos receiving numbers once he does learn the playbook. Scat backs who dont block are VERY situational as they are not useful in blitz pickup. while a creative coach can work their way around it, it is a headache a lot of teams dont want to deal with.

Personally I think he does step into the Mckinnon role and it will be business as usual. if Pacheco goes down there is one back that is a thumper who could wear down a defense and one who can catch passes. the signing makes sense to me. if Pacheco needs a rest, there is a RB for every situation who can step in for him. it may lower his numbers in a nominal way in terms of touches, but his yards per touch will likely go up a bit because he will be better rested

I wouldnt move him down my board by that much. its the offense as a whole you care about

Here’s where it moved him for me in practical terms: at 2.07 I took ETN over Pacheco.

Had ETN been picked, I may still have taken Pacheco, but I’d have felt it was a drop-off.

Yesterday I would have taken Pacheco over ETN in that situation,

So not a huge drop. But enough of one to be a tiebreaker.

I would say 3rd behind Hill and Waddle. Maybe if you combine Achane/Mostert, then 4th but that's not unusual for a TE. Smith has big play ability down the seam and without a legit WR 3 currently, he could get and keep that role.

They also released Fortson, who was thought to be competing for Move TE receptions.

And McD specifically came out and said “forget the past” - after the brought him in IIRC he also said he wanted to add more size in the red zone.

With two field stretchers in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen waddle, there should be a bevy of opportunity underneath for a big body receiver like Jonnu.

Jonnu Smith will be a TE1 this year. Draft players on high powered offenses. He's been doing real well in the preseason.
Not to be discouraging but the TE in McDaniels offense so far has not exceeded 400 yards both years. Jonnu Smith has only gone over 500 yards once in his 7 seasons. The TE 12 last year in yards was Dalton Schultz with 635.

So highly unlikely Jonnu is a TE1.

1. I can't unequivocally say True, but I do think SF has strong "wheels falling off" potential this year. I'm not avoiding Niners, but I'll be a little more nervous taking any of them

2. How much has Perine impacted other RBs he played with? I do recall that he stole some recs from Mixon. Hard to isolate his impact with Denver last year, since that offense wasn't super functional

3. Similar to No.1. Might not be a straight line, but these situations always make me nervous. Getting up to speed, increased risk of injury, etc. Although at least Cinci already had its "wheels fall off" season last year, so what are the odds that it happens again?
