Value of Vick this week (1 Viewer)

Just curious what some of the thoughts would be regarding Vick's production this weekend with the possibility of both Dunn and or Norwood possibly out. You would think this might bump his passing numbers, but it really takes away what are probably his best receivers. This also might lower his rushing numbers as Dallas my just key on him. Any thoughts differently?

It's a roll of the dice I think. He could be the one to benefit the most as he'd be the one doing much of the rushing the other guys aren't able to do. Then again if Dallas can figure out a way to sell out and contain him he could get close to nothing, unless he can complete passes.

It looks bad for him this week, as I wouldn't choose to bet on a) his receivers suddenly being able to hang onto the ball and b)him delivering enough good passes to make their drops less painful. Unfortunately he's my best option this week - at least I don't have to choose.

This game is important. Atlanta wont disclose if Norwood or Dunn will play but I'm guessing at least one will.

If they dont, Vick is the team's best RB. Griffith will get touches but he can also do what he does best... block. Only it wont be blocking for Dunn or Norwood. Atlanta is playing at home on the turf. Vick's rushing will be just fine. Its an important game agasinst a good team so there will be lots of hard hits. Vick's wideouts are wimps. Possible low scoring game but Vick will definately get more than 3 carries this week.

How 'bout what Jaws said, put Schaub at QB and start Vick at RB this week. I'm not endorsing it as plausible, but gives some good fodder for the imagination for what they could come up with for that package.

Are there any Vick owners still in the playoffs after last week?
Yep, I'm still there... I do have Tomlinson, Bush, Chad Johnson, and Boldin keeping me there though. Big Ben is my back up! Without Ward, I will roll the dice and go with Vick....

I'm going with Rivers over Vick this week. Unfortunately, my opponent has Tomlinson. :goodposting:

Maybe they'll pass a little in the red zone now that LT2 has the TD record.

i'm going with leinart over vick.

eventhough vick plays well at home, i don't like his matchup vs. a tough cowboys defense who was embarrassed on the national TV. he won't have a running game to go along with not having a WR corp. too risky IMHO.

I'm in and debating between him and Favre, tough call....
Same here. I've stuck with Vick all year but I'm really thinking that this is the week I go with Favre.Interesting comment on rotoworld today...from an NBC sports video (Peter King). I can't quote, but it's around 2:10. Talking about Norwood & Dunn a bit, then around 1:50 left King states that Mora doesn't want Vick to run that much anymore.

Vick without running = Gradkowski.

I haven't seen this picked up on much, but the fact that he didn't run at all last week makes me lean against Vick this week vs. the Cowboys, who have a very quick defense.

tampa has always played him tough though. During the game they were very disciplined and didnt let him get away with any options, boot options. they knew what was coming and what would burn them. You'd think he has to run more as their low point total isnt going to work against a team with an offense.

I'm leaning at starting Brady over Vick. I'm been running with Vick all year, but think Brady will be fired up after last weeks loss and so will Dallas' D.

I'd love to see Vick play RB or have them roll with a no RB passing offense on all downs. Either way he learns a new position.

I was very concerned to hear that Mora was trying to rein in Vick's running. Without his rushing totals, Vick's fantasy value is nill. I'm seriously considering Jeff "Sounds like a Duck" Garcia over Vick this week, but probably won't decide until game-time on Saturday.

Let me tell you what is going to happen. Dunn and Norwood will be listed as much as doubtful all week and then at least one of them will play as if nothing ever happened to him. From then on Parcells will list Romo on the injury report as long as he stays with Dallas. The situation looks eerily similar to that infamous game against New England enraged the Patriots personnel that resulted in the contiual probable listing of Tom Brady on the injury report.

Still in the running, but it is a total points league so goes through all 17 weeks. There is some merit as to the point made about not running after he looked to be injured the prior week, but also in watching the TB game, it sure seemed that every time he thougth about running, TB had 2 guys waiting for him.

Does the fact that Dallas plays a 3-4 make running for Vick even harder?

TB definitely seemed to be playing the "stop the run, dare him to pass" strategy that many had expected to see used more often against Vick. It worked from a fantasy standpoint, but they still lost the game so who knows.

Good question... anyone know? My gut tells me that it wouldn't hurt his scrambles too much but could make the rollouts and options a bigger challenge.

My other option is Pennington against minny. Vick is the #3 Qb in my league so Im going Vick with Confidence.

Let me tell you all something about Mr. Vick.

Yesterday I was at a local mall in Northern Virginia and Michael Vick was doing an autograph signing. One would think he would have been in Atlanta preparing for a HUGE game vs the Cowboys, but he was there signing autographs for $250 a pop.

With a Saturday game, shouldn't he be preparing. His mind is on making money and not winning in my mind.

Anyway, just something to consider.

I agree that Vick maybe shouldn't have been there with the short week and the playoff situation the Falcons are in; however, having watched 90% of the Falcons games this year (due to Vick, Dunn, and Norwood on both of my fantasy teams) Vick has been the least of the problem for the Falcons this year. His receivers have dropped in my estimation 500-1000 yards worth of passes throughout the season, but that's obvious. Ashley Lelie giving up on the jump ball last week is just one example.

That said, I see maybe 140 yards passing and a TD, 2 INT, and about 40 yards rushing and a TD due to the injuries to the RBs.

There's a rumor going around they might even put Vick back there," Ayodele said Tuesday to a visitor from Atlanta. "There" being the Falcons backfield, where Warrick Dunn and Jerious Norwood are questionable. "Vick" being Michael, the quarterback with the fancy feet.

"Not like he can't. He can create so much trickery out of that — reverses, double reverses, halfback pass. I'm thinking about it and wondering — why haven't they thought about it before?"

Suddenly, this is a defense susceptible to anything. The way the Cowboys played in losing to New Orleans 42-17 Sunday, they very well could give up 15 yards to a suggestion.

Here are his 3 games against 3-4 defenses this year:vs Pitt: ran for 40 yards, threw for 232 yds and 4 TD passesvs Clev: ran for 74 yards, threw for 197 yds and 1 TD passat Balt: ran for 54 yards, threw for 127 yds and 1 TD passNo rushing TDs, averaging 56 rush yds and 185 pass yds

Well, Vick was a very good play for me Saturday night, how about the rest of you guys?

Did you play him, or let last weeks game scare you off?

i really expected the cowboys defense to come out fighting after last week's whipping. i thought with no running game dallas would force vick to throw and ATL would stuggle as vick can't throw and his WR can't catch....boy, was i ever wrong

:lmao:

come on leinart :football:

started him in one league over favre, benching him in another for romo.so, one decision TBD, the other was wrong. Romo did have a decent game though.looks like another week of back and forth - this time b/c of him leaving the game yesterday.

I almost pulled Vick for Bulger last night.....Luckily I left him in. 32 points from him helped me against my opponent who had Romo and TO (the spitter)

I left his 37 points on my bench this week. His lack of rushing last week had me a little hesitant, and I didn't realize that his receivers were going to learn how to catch again against Dallas.Nice game Mike! Go Garcia!

So far, I'm going with Rivers over Vick.
:towelwave: Every time Vick has blown up this year, he's been on my bench. I suck at this.
Vick is top 3 in my leagues. Why wouldn't you start him every single week? Last week was his only real stinker.
Personally, it's because I picked up Romo off the waiver wire the week he replaced Bledsoe.I kept starting Vick through week 10, as Romo got progressively better: 15.98 in week 7, 18.6 in week 8, 23.46 in week 9, 25.02 in week 10. At that point, Romo had outscored Vick two weeks in a row, though I had not lost a game by having my higher scoring QB on the bench. I tried to trade Romo but got no takers. In week 11, Romo was home against Indy, and Vick was playing @BAL. I started Romo due to the matchups and the two week trend, and Vick outscored him on my bench. I lost, and would have won had I started Vick.So I went back to Vick the following week, at home against NO, thinking I should have just stuck with him every week, based on the same thinking above (top QB, so why bench him?). Of course, that was Thanksgiving week, when Romo blew up for 41.84 and outscored Vick by 22 points. I lost, and would have won easily had I started Romo.So in week 13, both were on the road. The trend was still 3 out of 4 games to Romo, so I flopped back to Romo, and Vick outscored him by 15 points. Fortunately, Reggie Bush saved me, and I won.In week 14, Vick was @TB and Romo home vs. NO. In retrospect, I'm not sure why I chose Vick, but I did... and Romo outscored him 12.06 to 4.7. Fortunately, I survived it and advanced to the second round of the playoffs. So, entering this week, in the past 6 weeks, Romo had 23.46, 25.02, 5.34, 41.84, 7.28, 12.06 for a total of 115 fantasy points. Vick had 14.52, 15.28, 16.48, 19.96, 22.78, 4.7 for a total of 93.72 fantasy points. Sure, most of the difference in total points came in one game for Romo, but Romo outscored Vick in 4 of those 6 games. So I started Romo this week, and again left points on the bench. This makes the 7th straight week I started the wrong one. And, while I make my own decisions, I do check the FBG rankings every week, and I think they have also missed this particular comparison almost every week. Unfortunately, I may have allowed that to influence me once or twice.Romo still had a solid game this week, and I also have Owens, so I'm hoping to advance to the title game. Next week, Romo is home against Philly, and Vick is home against Carolina. If Vick's groin is a problem, I'll start Romo. If not, I'll probably go with Vick, since he has generally been pretty good at home.I know that's a long post about my team, but I think some others have these two and have to regularly decide, so I thought it might be of interest. And I'd love someone to give me some good advice about how to choose the right QB!

You know, us Vick owners like to cry and moan about his terrible WR corps. And there's a lot of truth to that.

But if you're looking at his situation, you also have to praise the football gods for sending us the Falcons' bizarre red zone playbook. This is a team that leads the league in rushing and is close to last in passing -- yet when they get into goal-to-go situation, they pass. Always. Short yardage, long yardage, first down, fourth down, it's either a Vick run or a pass. I have no idea how that strategy makes sense, but I'm sure glad they've decided on it.

Just wanted to say just when everyone thinks the guy is out and has no chance he puts up big numbers.

No receivers, no RB - I like him this week.

Not as good, but at least starting Romo didn't kill you.
