wow, a couple of things shocked me this weekend....You have to be happy if you own these guys:

Slaton----clearly the feature back

Benson----Finished strong last year and the OL got stronger as well

Julius jones----Took thomas Jones six years to become a stud, little bro sits atop the depth chart in Seattle

Larry Johnson----Haven't heard a peep since the new coach came to town, the RB they drafted projects to a FB role

Pierre Thomas---Has a chance to be the grinder in this team

MJD. They drafted 2 of the 5 best tackles in the draft.
yeah but his value went up the day fred Taylor left...MJD is probably in everybody's top3-5...This draft didn't help him that much, he was already going to be the stud. the other guys i named had question marks before this weekend...

I'd add Jamal Lewis to the list. Looks like he's still the starter.
yeah, i thought about jamal too, somehow he keeps plugging along, but I think he;ll lose his job one way or another this offseason. Either that or Mangini will use him to death,

add Portis. I think since Sean Taylor's death, he's really dedicated himself to the game, and stayed in great shape. Clearly the Skins aren't worried about his replacement in the next 2 seasons or we would have likely seen a RB taken today IMO.

These two up slightly:

Gore - Drafting Crabtree should open things up, and Coffee won't factor in much

CJ3 - Britt and Cook will make it so the 8 & 9's he saw in the box last year won't be there

Slaton-- they be adding what ever RB Denver drops, maybe Jordon, not out of the woods yet for SlatonBenson--Would you really start him on a FF team?Julius Jones--See BensonLarry Johnson--He has not made the final roster, and without a pay cut I don't think he stays in K.C.Pierre Thomas-- He could be safe, but the money is on N.O. adding a FA RB before camp

My biggest problem with these kind of statements is: At this point who is left in FA that can compete with them. I cant think of anyone that could seriously push them for playing time. Give them a breather, sure. Slaton owners should worry about denver's scraps?

Benson--Would you really start him on a FF team?
Started him for the Championship last year.Too much sheep mentality on the guy.
Amen. I started him in two championship games last year and won them both. He ran hard last year and was a factor in the receiving game. He had 332 combined yards in weeks 15 and 16. Yeah, who would want that in their lineup? I hope people continue to dismiss him out of hand because he'll be an excellent value pick this year.

I think James Davis can cut into some of Jamal's carries. He didn't have a good senior campaign, but the whole Clemson team as a whole didn't either.

thinking Braylon's final destination may play a part in the Browns RB Depth chart...

This is exactly what I thought when NYGs drafted Andre Brown

I agree that people have dismissed and written off Benson and it was to the detriment for many making a championship run last season. My concern would be more the fact that the Bengals drafted Bernard Scott in the 6th round.

Ronnie Brown - his only competition for carries is a RB who's over 30 and has a history of problematic substance abuse

Chauncy Washington - viewed as a longshot to stick around in the NFL, he has a decent shot at being the #2 back behind a guy who's never been a featured back in the NFL

Dude, right now these guys are pretty much slated to get all of the touches, except for maybe Thomas. Slaton and Benson were two of the hottest backs down the stretch (last 5 games I think). LJ didn't play much, but is still capable of being a solid number 1, and JJ goes into this year with no real competition either. i didn't say these guys are going to be super studs, but to answer your question I would be comfortable starting at least Slaton, Benson and Lj at this point.

I dont think its up. Its the same as it was. Its not down either.Even if they did bring in a guy he wasnt pulling the rock out of Portis' and then Betts' hands.

And every pick they did have up to the 6th round was defensive.
have you seen Washington's 2009 schedule yet? :lmao: Portis' value is WAY up! has to be one of the easiest cakewalk schedules against the run,and probably one of the easist we've seen in past few seasons!

I'll be shocked if Portis doesn't lead the NFL in rushing this season..

I have Benson and plan to use him until he proves he doesn't deserve it. IF he has put his troubles behind him he could be a very, very good FF back this season.

A lot of the kids you saw drafted on Sunday will not make the final rosters or be sent to PS. I expect NO to grab another Teams left overs; but it won't hurt PTs Value...

I was Shocked that Cleveland passed on all the Top RBs, so at this point Lewis' value actually goes up from what it was last week... hes one of the few Full-time RBs on any roster

I would have preferred they draft no RBs but the fact that they didn't take one until the sixth round reads as a plus in my book.

They have no depth at the position, they needed to draft someone. Benson appears to be the guy for sure at the moment.

:lmao: A healthy Palmer and o-line help should lift this offense a lot compared to last year. In an era of RBBC, Benson could be in the top 12 for RB touches, unless they pick up a top free agent RB.

Check out this Link.
"I like Julius," Mora said. "I have a successful history with T.J. Duckett. We like Justin Forsett. Those are our three primary guys right now.

"When we signed Julius as a free agent last year, I thought that was a real good move for us and I haven't come off that. I like the guy, I think he's a good back and I think this is the right scheme for him. I feel like we can win with those three guys."
Sounds like RBBC to me.

when are people going to learn about J. Jones? He's worthless unless you pick him in the last round. He has no upside and has lived on his 1st 1/2 year for about 4-5 years now. I'd much rather spend a pick on a backup RB with some upside over Jones.

It also looks like LT owners dodged a bullet this weekend with SD not drafting a RB. I saw a lot of mocks with them taking Moreno.

Don't sleep on Gartrell Johnson. He looks like he'll be a solid short yardage back at the very least, and could develop into more than that.

Not only that, but Clevland's first pick was another O-lineman to open holes for him. I think he actually has a decent year - maybe RB12-18 or thereabouts - making him a solid RB2, if not borderline RB1 with a good matchup.
