Just curious where some of you stand on vanity license plates. Have you ever gotten one or do you routinely get them? How do you feel about others that get them? Does it matter what kind of vehicle it is?

I have one, 1ndy500 in homage to my favorite sporting event. My dad had one for years, FTL-747, but no one understood it except the people he worked with. It stood for Flying Tiger Line 747, company he worked for and the plane he flew.

Never had one and do not anticipate that I ever will. I don't really give them much thought other than to try to figure out some of the more cryptic ones when I see them, sort of like solving a puzzle.

I have one now. NUNCHEF it's my job and the ladies think its cute. Only problem i have is paying extra every year to renew.
I understand why there is a charge the first time to create the plate, just highway robbery to charge extra after that

This is me.

We just a got new car and my son was asking me to get one and I was like "no way, never have and just not interested". I used to have this negative opinion about them but now, after he asked and I thought about it, I figured it's really not a big deal even though I still don't have any interest for myself.

So I was curious what the general opinion is on them amongst our fellow FBGers.

Don’t really care about them. Like most things in life, if it doesn’t negatively impact others, then I don’t care what others do.

That said, on the margin it seems like an indicator of a “look at me” mindset. If I was single, and found out a woman I was dating had vanity plates, it would probably be a minor red flag. Not as bad as if she was a wanna be Tik Tok star, but just a minor red flag.

There seems to be a strong positive correlation between people using custom plates and people being complete pricks so I guess I'm for them in terms of identifying people to avoid

You cook at a convent?
No. He cooks nuns.

:scared:
After awhile it just becomes a habit.

He cooks nuns
I went to a Catholic school for four years. I remember them being a little tough.
I do cook at a convent, for 60 nuns. Not where I thought I would end up as a chef but it's been great at this stage of life.
As for the nun/habit jokes have certainly heard most. I only us EVOO 😉

I feel like I am seeing more than ever recently. I get a kick out of them but would never get one myself. I always crack up when it's something like "BADBABE" and then it's some frumpy 50 year old lady or even better, a bald dad type.

So, you might say your cooking is Habit forming?

I was completely joking. I can't believe that's actually what you do.

Your vanity plate is perfect and deserved.

Similar thoughts here.
If I were to pay extra for a plate on my old *** car, it would ones that donate something to conservation or to my Alma Mater…though, they are currently getting enough of my money with my son there.

No opinion either way except the really dumb ones like "03FORD" on an 03 Ford.

As a Steelers fan I was going to go with FECERS but no one would get it so it was a no.

My current plate (example). https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/azure/plates/images/plates/mo.jpg Money goes to families affected by catastrophic events.
