Variance Question (1 Viewer)

I feel like I've heard that research has been done on having 2 WRs from the same team in terms of variance, but I forget the conclusions (variance neutral?).

The league I'm in is kind of unique, but I will be starting Housh and have the ability to start either TO or CJ with him. I think they're pretty equal this week, so I'd like to go with the lower variance option.

No offense, but I'm looking for some objective information here more so than "common sense" opinions.

Doug Drinen did this study. He found more consistency with two WRs on the same team. If you want to see the article, check out the post one (table of contents) in the wannabee thread, pinned at the top of the assistant coach forum.

I don't have any variance numbers for you, but I know it isn't usually recommended. I've tried it in previous seasons and it never seemed to bring the results I expected.Things you have to consider are:1. Stability at QB. Who's the backup? Will the starter get sufficient protection?2. Weather.3. Does the game have the potential to get out of hand, leaving the second half or 4th quarter to simply running out the clock?4. Is the team in a position to be focusing on correcting the running game when the opponent offers the opportunity?5. Trends.Due to the circumstances this weekend presents, I'd go with Housh and T.O. IMO.
