I dont know a ton about this guy, but I hear he is a Tatum Bell clone which is good to hear in the potential department.

With Kubiak installing his cutback blocking scheme and DD's knee not responding well this offseason is Morency a breakout player in the making?

FYI,

Morency is currently battling an injury of his own.

Plantar Fascia.
That sucks. Plantar fascitis is that sharp pain you get on the bottom of your foot, usually when you first step out of bed in the morning. It can hinder him for a while if bad enough and he doesn't rehab properly. If healthy I think he has potential to produce good numbers this year.

Yuck. Too bad, Houston is a better team than they were last year and I was excited to see what Kubiak could do.

Anybody have a link to his health status? I agree this guy could be a huge sleeper this year.

Maybe we'll see next year when they are in position to draft AP. Passing on Bush won't look so bad then...

 The only thing Morency and Bell have in common is that they both played together at Oklahoma St. And that's where the simlarity starts and ends.

There's been nothing reported since the sore foot held him out of some OTAs in May. It was just mentioned as a blurb in the stories about Dom's knee swelling and Kubiak's praise for his rook RBs. He was asked to rest his foot, even though the he was capable of going on it. I think he'll be fine.

I hope that was a joke -IMO he is at least a guy to keep in mind for deeper rosters or on FA wire if (err when) DD gets dinged up.

I think you would have to hear that he was named the starter(he's not even #2 right now according to FBG) to label him "the next Willie Parker".

Last year at this time Parker was the #3 right?
I hope that was a joke -
Thats what I read in Fantasy Football Index...

Morency did produce like Bell in that Oklahoma State running game during his outstanding 2004 season. He doesnt have bell's home run speed, but his change of direction skills are excellent. Early reports this year were not encouraging BEFORE he got hurt (not adapting to one cut system), and he is falling farther behind Antowain Smith and maybe Wali Lundy (who I am being forced to upgrade after writing him off this offseason) while sidelined. I liked Morency coming out last year, but he is old for a prospect, and may end up in RB purgatory very soon.

no, but Antowain Smith may be.
 Morency will be a stud if DD doesn't start. Definitely pick him up.

Seems like there was a thread like this just last week, and then another one about a week before.

Thats possible Im new to the site... sorry if its a repeat
Think it's more a product of speculation on DD's Knee. It's not like he's reached TO or Bush status yet.http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...1185&hl=morency

The age factor does indeed play here. He spent a couple of years trying to make it as a baseball player. He's 26 despite only being in his 2nd season. That puts a big target on his back if he doesn't do something to stand out this year as far as a roster spot is concerned, IMO.
