TE Davis has MCL Sprain

September 24, 2007

An MRI of Vernon Davis’ injured knee revealed an MCL sprain that will cause the second-year tight end to miss a few weeks of action.

Davis was injured in the third quarter on a 22-yard pass play from Alex Smith that officials called an incomplete pass after head coach Mike Nolan challenged the initial ruling of a fumble.

Cadillac, Delhomme, SJax, and now VD!!?? Thankfully I'm 3-0 so I can hopefully sustain these injuries for a few weeks until my boys return.

He will miss the Seahawks and Ravens, then come back after the bye. At least I won't be tempted to start him against those two. Seahawks/Ravens have great LB's.

The question is "will SF notice that he is not there".
they''ll notice if smith can get him the ball. 1st play of the game TE screen for big gainthen he missed him 3 or 4 times open, before almost getting him killed by the steeler secondaryhe'll be o right i believe

i just sprained my MCL getting my morning coffee. i told my boss i'd be out 3-5 weeks depending on severity, but i was told to suck it up and get back out there and man the computer. and these nfl guys think they have it hard...

He's a bust because he hasn't done fantasy squat, he talks trash, and he was singled out during preseason as a player with all sorts of fantasy potential. I don't recall anyone saying he's a bust specifically because of injury.

But thanks for the hifalutin take.

Im glad after 3 weeks someone can make your Bust list....you have done enough to make the ignore list. Congrats :banned:

Really regret drafting him over Cooley. Doh!
Yeah, that's a tough break. I was excited to get Davis relatively late, but after seeing how the 49ers are using him -- plus how he appears to be attitudinally -- I am really down on his chances to put up any numbers this year. The injury only makes the outlook bleaker. I'm a cut bait kind of guy in situations like this if you can find another serviceable TE.

Aside from being a horrible call on the ref's part, Polamalu jacked VDavis up about 9 different ways. I hope he's better quickly but I gotta say I'm not surprised at this news...that was kinda nasty.

OUCH

You look at that picture and wonder why it's his knee that's sprained.

polo hit him in his legs, which sent him upside down and into the position you see there.
