Vick and His WR's (1 Viewer)

Defending Champs

This may have been covered recently, but did a search and didn't see it.

I live in Atlanta and have watched the offense do what it has done and basically that is run the football.

Well, with that said, Vick really hasn't had any stability at WR. In the update from this morning the following was written and I think is pretty interesting and is one of the many different issues this passing offense has faced over the last several years.

"Source: Charles Odum, AP

Michael Vick added he is more comfortable because he has the same starting receivers, Michael Jenkins and Roddy White, returning for the first time in his six years. "

There have been a lot of talks over the Atlanta air waves that the fans are HOPING for the "breakout" season for Jenkins and/or White. As with any sport, time will tell, I am inclined to agree with them though. I think the time is right for this offense.

The only reason that he has the same starting WRs this year as he did last is because they are running out of people to blame for his lack of passing skills.

Blame the coach, not the player. He was doing fine under Dan Reeves.

I think that's the point... blame Mora Jr., blame Peerless, blame the QB coach, blame the system, blame his lack of targets, blame the game itself, just DON'T blame Vick. Ever!

I think you know what you are going to get out Vick and that is an extremely talented football player that can throw the ball real far and sometimes for accuracy.

I think its' clear his intangible abilities are what wins him football games and usually don't translate to good fantasy stats, but MOST of the time it does translate to an additional Win.

I really don't think you can argue with the fact that some stability in his targets certainly can't hurt. If they don't make the playoffs this year and the offense is struggling, I will 100% agree with you.

Name me any WR Vick has had that went on to do anything after they left Atlanta. He has had nothing to work with, Peerless Price is the only one who came in with any credentials and he started having some weird eye problems and has sucked everywhere he has went.

Your claim would hold some water if you could name a WR who left Atlanta and went on to do something somewhere else, but there are none.

As incongruous as it sounds, you throw from the feet up, and Vick's footwork in the past has been so sloppy that it has precluded him from having a real chance at upgrading his marksmanship. But on Thursday, on most occasions, he was a drop, plant, square-the-shoulders, rotate-into-the-throw passer. There were few of the mechanical lapses that have marked his motion in the past, and Vick lauded the offseason work put in by new quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave, who has spent a ton of hours with the star. Musgrave owns the reputation of being a stickler, a guy who will hound his pupils when they make mistakes. But Vick, who many felt might chafe under his stewardship, has taken well to the approach. In the past, on the rare occasions when Vick actually had his mechanics and timing in synch, he was a lot more accurate and the ball didn't sail as much on him. That was also the case Thursday, and Vick needs to continue to focus on delivering the ball with sound techniques.
Look at his feet.LOOK at his FEET, I tell ya!

Would you just take a LOOK AT HIS FEET!

Thiesmann / McGuire impersonation over.

If you mean his running ability and his formerly good defense, then i agree. The defense sucked last year and so did the Falcons. If their defense improves with abraham and the other additions, then you will see them win again and all the Vick lovers will point to vick and see "SEE!?!"Vick is a subpar QB and an excellent RB. Like Dilfer, he needs the top run game and a top defense to get anywhere. If either fail, so will Atl.

I don't think anyone can argue that a better running game and strong defense won't help you win football games.
