Footballguy
im in upstate NY and word is making its way around town that Vick is in town to sign w/ the Bills. Ive checked everywhere and I cant even officially confirm that he's in NY. Any other Buffalo-homers hear anything? Like I said, its a rumor so please take it for what it's worth.

From PFT:

Rumors fly of Vick to Buffalo

Posted by Mike Florio on August 13, 2009 2:29 PM ET

We've been receiving e-mails all day about new rumors that Mike Vick will sign with the Bills.

The possibility intrigues us, because the Bills were the first team that we suggested folks should be watching as Vick re-enters the league.

There's still no formal report or acknowledgment that Vick is Buffalo bound, but the guys at KSK have posted something about it.

We have no idea whether Buffalo will be Vick's next NFL destination, but given the reasoning owner Ralph Wilson applied to the decision to sign Terrell Owens, Vick can't be written off as a candidate to become the next Bill.

G.M. Russ Brandon previously said that the Bills aren't interested, but with the time-honored "at this time" qualifier.

For years, many Atlanta fans wanted to bring TO in, thinking it was the WRs that were the problem. Well, maybe we'll finally get to see some Vick to TO action.

All I can add is that I heard it reported on the WGR 550 morning show that he was in town. This is the first I have heard of it since 8:00am.

There could be fire to this smoke.

I mentioned the VICK to TO fantasy commercial back when vick was reinstated.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet

Per Adam Schefter's twitter minutes ago..."To the tweeters tweeting me that Michael Vick is in Buffalo - false. Still believe his deal will be done by Monday, but he's not in Buffalo."
thanks DC. i thought it was odd that no one was picking up the story

I thought this one was funny too...

No joke: in past 30 minutes, people have told me Vick spotted in Tampa, Carolina and Buffalo. Didn't realize one man could be in 3 places.

about 4 hours ago from UberTwitter

Same link applies from prior post.

Schefter says "still believe his deal will be done by Monday". It kinda sounds like hes saying Vick will sign w/ Buffalo but he's not in Buffalo today.

While it does read that way, you have to understand that when you use twitter, you are only allowed 140 characters per "tweet". So Schefter was probably just making the most of his available space per "tweet". Sometimes, messages are not as clear as if you had unlimited typing available.

I found this on another site. Not sure if true.Amidst swirling rumors that Michael Vick could sign in Buffalo Thursday, NFL Network's Rich Eisen reports the Bills have called a 4:00 p.m. press conference.Profootballtalk has been receiving emails all day about whispers that Vick will sign with the Bills. Political consultant Mike Lesczinski escalated the rumors when he tweeted: "Word leaked from One Bills Drive says Mike Vick Signing With Bills as We Speak. Press Conference later today."Source: Rich Eisen on Twitter Related: Bills
Eisen tweeted right after that "Talk about crazy rumors. Apparently the Bills didn't have a press conf at all and Vick is not in Buffalo either."

Personally I think Minnesota is the place for Vick. Not Buffalo, Green Bay, or NE.

Minnesota has no QB, Vick is a starting calibre QB in need of a job.

you'd think that this would be enough.

I do get the feeling he'll sign this weekend.

A lot of smoke and there is bound to be a wild fire soon, what city is the only question at this point.

Bills don't have a coaching staff able to implement a Wildcat offense

what they ran last year was an embarassment to a high school coaching staff

maybe they think he can run the no-huddle effectively :blackdot:

That's good. I really don't see him as a good fit anyway. They've been spending so much time working on the no huddle, there's no way Vick would be able to pick that up if Trent would struggle or get hurt. Not to mention the potential QB controversy/distraction it would cause with TO, should they lose games.

I still have a feeling he ends up a Steeler. I don't know why. I can't say I think they need him, and I can't say that I'm crazy about the idea, but the way Tomlin has responded just makes me feel like something is in the works.

I think what is important to remember with Vick, when he first started with the Falcons, they ran an EXTREMELY limited playbook for a FULL year. This guy is a SLOW learner even with a basic offense. He will need a WC style offense in order to pick the scheme up as quick as possible.

Vick would be an interesting choice for the "new offense" in Buffalo. His inaccuracy would make for some of the quickest 3 & outs in league history. Although his scrambling would wear down the defense in a hurry.

Look how Bills fans have embraced TO. This makes sense they need to sell tickets somehow.
Unfortunatley, even though the team has sucked for 10 years, the fans still sell out the place, sending the wrong message to ownership.

I kinda take offense to this. I will continue to buy my season tickets every year until their inevitable move. I'm trying to desperately "hang on" to the Bills before they leave....and a lot of my season ticket holder friends feel the same way. We support the team through thick and thin because we're all afraid of what 5 years from now will bring. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you don't support the team or anything like that, but to be honest, there's no room for the fans to negotiate with the ownership - the Bills are one of the few really good things left here. If this was a huge market with a #### team that was going nowhere, it'd be a different story, but it's not. It's a dying city with a fleeting population and a ####ty football team - if all the people like me out there were to not renew our season tickets this year, we could send a message to the front office/ownership....and then they'll send that message right back when they move us out of Buffalo. :goodposting:
