As ive said earlier the Eagles have been losing games because of their predictable offense. Every DC in the league knows WE HAVE THE BEST RB IN THE LEAGUE AND WONT USE HIM. The issue with Vick has been turnovers,but when you ask a mobile qb to pass 60 times a game,you will have mistakes well unless youre Drew Brees,Aaron Rodgers,or Peyton Manning of course. I have been begging for Reid's head on a platter for years. For them to actually blame the loss to the Falcons on Vick makes me no longer a fan of this team until Andy Reid is gone.

While I agree that Castillo was a scapregoat, Vick should absolutely be benched. He's horrible. It's time to see what Foles can do.

While I agree that Castillo was a scapregoat, Vick should absolutely be benched. He's horrible. It's time to see what Foles can do.

Not saying Vick hadnt been but he did not turn the ball over today.He wasnt the reason we lost.Its was because of the stupid play calling and the defense.
 
The clock is ticking on Reid's tenure. Wouldn't surprise me if benching Vick is the next step on the downward spiral.

 
If you don't think Vick is a significant reason the Eagles lose games you must not watch them. Three plays come to mind that illustrate why Vick will never be a competent quarterback:

1) About 5 minutes left, 3rd and ~10. 2 Falcons LBs creep up to the line on the left side. Vick doesn't assign blockers or check out of the play. He runs the play as is, with no extra player on the left side of the line to block. To guys come unblocked through the B gap, Shady picks up one and the other levels Vick as he throws it away.

2) THE VERY NEXT PLAY the Falcons ran the same blitz. You could see it coming from a mile away, they weren't even trying to disguise it. Once again Vick runs the play as is, no audible or adjustment. 2 through the B gap, Shady picks up one and the other gets to Vick. The game is effectively over at this point.

3) Eagles get the ball back with about 3 minutes left. After a penalty / sack, it's 4th and ~18. Vick drops back, senses pressure, starts to run, remembers it's 4th and 18, tries to dump the ball off to a guy only 2 yards past the line of scrimmage but throws it into the ground instead.

The guy simply does not understand how to play quarterback. He can't or won't check out of plays, even when there's obviously a free rusher. That's why he gets hit so much. If his primary receiver is double or triple covered, he'll often try to force the ball in anyway. On that second to last series, in a situation when they needed a first down, he threw the ball to a blanketed avant instead of a wide open Maclin. On most plays he doesn't even try to look at the 2nd option, much less the 3rd and 4th the way all good qbs do when they have time and guys are covered.

Andy Reid is the best coach the eagles have had in the modern era, I wouldn't be so quick to throw a guy like that out. I think there's a definite possibility that their struggles are primarily due to Vick simply being unable to run a pro offense. Trying to coach a professional team playing against sophisticated defenses with Vick as your quarterback is like boxing with one arm tied behind your back.

Agree with some of this. However, if you're playing for this year, I think Vick is the best option. A third round pick, rookie quarterback will likely do all these same things and won't have the scrambling ability of Vick.
 
How much say does Howard Roseman have in matters? Does Michael Vick's contract fall solely on the shoulders of Andy Reid?

 
His schedule thus far has been incredibly difficult. It gets much easier from here on out. Would suck if they benched him now because if you've stuck with him up until now you're about to be rewarded.

:no: but agree that should have kept Castillo. You its lost to the best teams In the league :) don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. Especially not with the saints next week. Roles (or whoever his back up is) could throw for 300 vs the saints. Vick is his only shot to win, he just needs to work up a decent game plan and Philly torches the saints.

Castillo thing was a train wreck from the start. The firing was even worse..he should have been let go before the season started.<br><br>Reid is running out of goats to kill here. Ever since Jim Johnson passed away this team has been bad. Its seriously time he is the next one on the unemployment list. Funny part, you will still hear the media talk about letting Reid go being a mistake, that he is a great coach and stick to reliving the early 2000s.<br><br><br>Whoever comes here though i hope they bringing someone that can ####### spot talent along with O line & safety positions.

Injuries happen, problem is they had zero depth along the line. The depth they had they got rid of because they "werent good enough in their eyes" and didnt fit Mudds scheme/type of player and now those players are starting for other teams and doing well. ( McGlynn & Justice in Indy for example, RG & RT )

#eagles Andy Reid met with coaches after game on sunday to discuss QB situation. Meet again Mon Morn. I'm told likely QB change to Foles.

 
LMAO! Scapegoat #2 for the season.

Watch next game they play they have that 50/50 balanced play calling like they have in the past for their back up qbs...the same system they should be running with Vick to begin wit. Benching him is not the answer, this is just going to cause a landslide inside that locker room

Arizona (slightly above average)

Pittsburgh (slightly above average)

Detroit (average at best, lost at home)

Atlanta (Reid's first loss off a bye and a team they should be better than if they are legit SB contenders)

Eagles are supposed to be a Super Bowl contender. If they can't beat Arizona, a Pittsburgh team that's not as good as year's past, Detroit at home, and Atlanta at home then the Eagles are no where near a legit SB threat. They are 11th in the NFC. One of the worst scoring teams in the NFL (if not the worst, avg. 17 ppg).

 
Vick hasn't been horrible. Early on he wasn't great but he has been playing better lately considering. People who want Vick benched just don't like Vick period. They are looking at Foles because he was this preseason prince. Its still the same oline, the same coaching, the same play calling ( well might be different with Foles in there if history repeats itself ).

They been through this whole bench QB for QB 2 plently of times and the one thing that has been the same in all of this is Reid. It happened with McNabb..people wanted Feely, then wanted Kolb starting, they wanted Vick starting. Now they want Foles starting...a rookie whose only experience is 1 preseason.

Like they expect him to come in and toss up 300yd 4TD no turnover games. Like the oline will sudden block and McCoy will start getting 100+yd games, 20+ carries...etc

I'll concede Atlanta (but it was a must win game, at home following the bye and the Eagles flat out stunk - uncompetitive).Don't try to sell me on Arizona & Detroit being among the best teams in the league. I don't care what their records were, the Eagles are supposed to be the elite. Not struggling to pull out wins against Cleveland and losing at home to Detroit.

ETA: FTR, I don't think Vick should be benched. A 3rd round rookie QB should not be counted on to be Andy's savior. Andy needs to live or die with his $100mil franchise QB.

Yes they should be able to beat detroit and pitt. Those teams are coming off of a bye and were in must win situations of their own. Both played great games against us and ya, I know a loss is a loss, but when it's on a LAST second fg both times, thats tough. Yes we could have lost cleve/nyg games, but we could have easily won the other close games too. We just can't seem to get bounces this year... I think right now we are playing like a 4-3 team. New O game will be the big test. SOunds like VIck is staying in now.
 
I'm a Vick owner, and something needs to change. If replacing Vick will just allow a different look, pace, energy to the team then I think it needs to happen. Let's face it - mid season it's the easiest thing to change. Vick isn't horrible when he doesn't turn it over. He was told not to turn it over Sunday and he didn't. That being said, they are way too predictable and easy to defend. When your QB gets drilled on every pass attempt you have a design problem. It's not all O-line. My guess is a new QB will get rid of the ball quicker and be harder to defend.

That being said, what happened to the Eagles shut down D? When Pro Bowl corners are getting beat like crazy it means that a Vick only change won't be the sole answer.

To me though, their chance was the bye week. I think they are toast for 2012.

He does actually get the ball out pretty fast but the oline is def the problem. Their first scoring drive yesterday then called quick short passes mixed in with some runs. It worked well, they scored. Its the rest of the game ( and majority of the season )where Andy & Marty are dialing up these long developing plays..the offensive line just breaks down immediately and well there you have Vick trying to force a pass to get something going or getting slammed in the pocket or having to take off running. I just read something they only scored 7 pts in the 1st quarter..ALL SEASON. That is when Reids scripted plays are used..usually the 1st 15 or so plays are scripted. That is sad. If you have trouble scoring with plays you have drawn up already, its going to be hard to score when calling plays on the fly.
 
I've been informed Andy Reid is a top 5 coach in the NFL. You Philly fans apparently don't know how good you've got it.
