Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (9 Viewers)

Anyone of you play The Last of Us: Factions... the DLC multiplayer?

I thought I only had the two hour preview than I read there was a code in the game to redeem. Redeemed it last night and the thing is addictive. Not sure how I am going to stop playing this thing.
I played it for a little bit after I beat the single player, but I got absolutely stomped. It was probably 6 months after the game came out and I never killed a single person. Went like 0-20 and just decided I was too late in the game's cycle to get into it.

I'm not sure if the game has evolved since the early days but you getting killed is a part of it, then you respawn. Each game takes 10 minutes or so. And, you have objectives. You might be in week 1 and you have certain things you need to do. Last night I was in week 6 and had 3 days to kill, at least, four people using a molotov (you can pick what your goal is going to be). I was so close a number of times but I came up short... game over.

Its like a modern day version of Bond 64. So addictive.

I thought the same thing about the preview. Where was the code to redeem?

In the case on the back of the sheet on the left side. The picture art is the cover and the back has a redemption code.

I'm years late on this one, but I just stated playing XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Absolutely love it. I bought the original on Steam a couple years back and couldn't recapture how much fun it was when I played it back in high school. At some point, the poor graphics and gameplay outdo the nostalgia factor. BUt this new one modernizes the game but at least so far keeps the fun of the original with the base management vs. turn-based battles.
Fantastic game. Unforgiving as hell too.

I don't think Factions is DLC -- I played multiplayer quite a bit on PS3 and PS4 without needing anything besides the base game.

It's definitely original and I give ND credit for coming up with multiplayer that isn't just the standard TDM or horde mode. I played almost exclusively as a dedicated medic and actually felt like I was helping my team out by keeping people patched up and spotting enemies.

Pick easy stuff like spotting enemies, healing teammates and crafting/gifting items. If you pick the right perks, it's nearly impossible to fail these if you make the slightest effort at them. The first time I picked healing, for example, I think I satisfied the requirements on my first life of the first game.

With each week you have to do more to satisfy the requirements.

Yeah, I know. That's why you mix them up and save some easy ones for the 100% threat weeks.

Has anyone tried out Darkest Dungeon? Does it have any depth or replayability to it?
I have it and its ok. Not much depth, but I probably bought too early before the good stuff got added in. I like the concept of it.
When you say good stuff, is that the DLC's or just updates to the regular game itself?
Regular game. It was released as an early access game and wasn't complete (I knew this but it was a good price at the time). I will say I like a lot of what's there - I'm a big rogue-like fan and this did scratch and itch. It got a bit repetitive, but when the full game is released I'm hoping they've added in more.

ok thanks. Do you know when the full release is scheduled for? I have been looking online but have not seen anything definitive.

And The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is on sale 33% off at $40.19 on Steam.
IN. I've been thinking about buying Skyrim for my PC for months now (I played it on my PS3). But if ESO is all you guys are saying it is, I am so in.
Possibly in. This doesn't require a monthly subscription or anything right?
Nope. And the specs are pretty low for a recent PC. I bought mine back in November it far outshines the required specs.

It'd be cool if some FBGs here got it and we could work the dungeons together instead of the engaging with the 13 year old MMO crowd.
I've got a couple characters maxxed out but have not played it in forever. It was pretty boring endgame.

I just ordered for PS3:

Assassin's Creed - Black Flag

Sleeping Dogs

Dishonored GOTY

:excited: Can't wait. Any suggestions on what order to play these?

Any reviews on the couch co-op of any of the LEGO games? Specifically the LOTR/Hobbit? Some quick googling seems to confirm there is couch co-op, can anyone here confirm?
I played both Star Wars and the Indiana Jones ones on couch coop. Really good.

Add Batman (The first one) Batman 2 and Lord of The Rings Trilogy, Star Wars The Clone Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean and Marvel to that list.

The Lego Movie one is also quite fun.

LOTR is pretty awesome and there are ton's of side missions in addition to the main story lines of all three movies.

Thanks guys!

Been looking for another game to couch co-op with the gf after Diablo was a success. We've got our eye on Divinity: Original Sin when it comes to console but the world of good games with couch co-op is very small.

They announced on the Steam messageboard a late October full release.

What I think is easy and what is easy are two different things. Its amazing how you can spawn in some "random" spot and ten steps later you're already having to play defense cause some enemy is right there.

So frustrating. I was in Week 10, 100% gone if you don't complete the task, pick something "easy". I think it was 6 revives to just pass. The last two games I have a blob of opponents. They moved in motion, couldn't stop them, they just swayed around the board like nothing. I did 5 revives and lost. Come to find out that each person had over 100+ level ranking and my team were all under 40. Woohoo!

Never play Dark Souls? Basically the same with guns added. I'm not a fan of the genre.
Actually the gameplay is very different. In DS caution in battle is rewarded. In Bloodborne attacking is rewarded. Standing behind a shield isn't really even an option.

Most of you know I'm one of the biggest Dark Souks fans. I'm actually into my 9th playthrough of the first game.

The Bloodborne game doesn't interest me in the least. I know I would hate it.

Why? Same director as the original Demon and Dark Souls games.

These games aren't for everybody. I loved it personally, but there are spots where it's like banging your head against the wall, just like in the Souls series.

And speaking of banging your head against the wall, I spent almost two hours clearing Black Gultch in Dark Souls 2 last night. Whoever thought that level was a good idea needs to be punched in the face. Or better yet, poisoned with strychnine. For those that haven't encountered this one, it's a fairly short level, but there are literally 100+ little statues that constantly shoot poison at you. If you're very careful about it, you can destroy them all with your weapon and probably only get poisoned a few times. But if you die or leave the level, they all respawn and you get to spend another 20 minutes re-bashing them. Just awful level design. Probably the same guy who came up with Lost Izalith from DS1.

Two words.... No shield.

No matter how many times I've tried to run a duel wielding toon in either DS1 or DS2, where it's actually encouraged, I can't.

I mean I guess I could but why? I'm far better with a weapon that deals massive damage and can tank over the agile duel wielders who can dive all over the place.

Bloodborne looks like it takes all my strengths away and in also prefer the medieval art style of DS over the Jack the Ripper settings in Bloodborne.

well, you're imagining "no shield" and your fighting strengths in relation to dark souls. Totally different game. Being fast/offensive works because of the game's design.

The setting is actually closer to Souls than you think.

I have a hard time imagining someone who really liked souls not liking bloodborne once it "clicked".

Metro 2033 was available for download from gold. So I got it. Seems like a good story so far.
If you like it, the second Metro will be available later in the month. I have them on PC. Really haven't gotten too far in the first one, though. So I can't say much about them. But for free, you can't go wrong.

Are these the Redux versions? Apparently they updated the graphics for 2033 to look as slick as Last Light.

I thought these were solid shooters but I did have a problem with the fact that the big decision you make at the end of 2033 doesn't carry over into Last Light.

I finally got Elder Scrolls Online up and running and I'm having a lot of fun.

Questions -

1. Should we make a ESO thread?

2. I see you can create guilds. Is a FBGs guild possible?

I think Redux was for Xbone and I have a 360. The version I downloaded wasn't a Redux version.

Yeah I haven't gotten far. So far it is a pretty standard FPS action wise but the story has my interest. We'll see. Nice to know the next one will be coming. Isn't there a 3rd one in the works?

I'm guessing no. Unfortunately, I don't have the Redux's either. They want another $20 each to upgrade them. I paid less than that for both of them together.

Shhhhhhhhhh......

I've convinced myself and no longer pine to buy a PS4 for one game.

There's an ESO thread - created just for xbox but I think we can hijack for all platforms ESO related.

Doubtful - but there's also groups you can form in game for quests etc

Yeah, so I've played Bloodborne for 10-11 hours. Cant progress past the first "level." Furthest I've gotten is to the bridge with two werewolves. It's a lot of fun to play, but it's just way too damn hard. You can die with a single hit and they don't give you nearly enough healing things. I figured out that I can kill a few guys and then go back to the dream world. Then you have to re-do everything ONCE AGAIN and use up all your potions just to get to the point where you were before and wished you had some left over.

I'm just shaking my head at this.
There's a shortcut. You can bypass the werewolves. You can even exploit the fact they are too big for doors...

I played it for about 30 minutes and liked it so far. I gotta admit though, I'm all but done with FPS not named Fallout.
...and Half Life and Portal if that counts. I still play through the Orange Box every couple of years. The problem solving adds just enough to keep me wanting to play.

Every other fps that is just shooting bores me.

Yeah, you're not supposed to be fighting the werewolves head-on at this point -- they're going to absolutely murder you. Dash past them and enter the house on the left. There's a guy blocking your way, but you can run past him into the house, where the werewolves can't get you. There are two more guys lurking inside, so be ready. Go downstairs, kill the wheelchair shotgun guy, and open the shortcut back to the first lamp*. Now you can farm those werewolves, and you have two giant brick guys down there as well who are good for farming as well as learning how to parry. Starting at the lamp and using the shortcut, you can make a couple thousand blood echoes, pick up a few bullets, and get 6 or so healing items per run. You're also very close to the first boss, who is at the far end of the werewolf bridge, past the brick guy and crows.

* I think there's an easier way to do this that avoids the werewolves entirely, but I always get turned around and wind up just dashing past the werewolves.

There's a shortcut behind crates to the left in the area where the brick guy is banging on the door. This gets you to the building you're talking about at the lower floor (and allows you to open the gate shortcut). This way, you can clear that building, go up the stairs, kill the guy at the top, then lure the werewolves back down the stairs and kill them in the doorway.

** last post on this - don't want to muck the thread with too much bloodborne strategy. But the above should definitely change the game for you, Bucky86 - it will allow you to eventually make the entire first level your personal slaughterhouse / potion farm.
