Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (7 Viewers)

I can't take it anymore. They refuse to trade me. I can't stay here. I can't. My pitcher doppelganger will live on in some universe but not this one.

I just bought the XB1 Madden bundle with the TB drive and feel like a kid in a candy store. I've never waited to buy a system this long as I've bought every system post NES the day of release.

I was in target and there are so many games at $39. I'm trying to be good and only buy Gears but Dragon Age and the Skyrim game were talking to me. I was able to resist for now...

I can't speak to ESO, but DA:I is awesome.

I'd also highly recommend Sunset Overdrive. It didn't sell super well, but it's a heck of a lot of fun, has a great sense of humor and is pretty cheap these days too. Imagine if Tony Hawk Pro Skater (rail grinds, tricks, etc) and Ratchet and Clank (insane creative guns) had a kid, then set up shop in an open world, and you kind of get the idea.

Yeah, I don't mean to hijack the thread on another game. Sorry.

My newly minted SP came out of the Western League ready to be drafted in the first round and has found a home in the Astros organization. I can commence enjoyment of being a SP in RTTS. I'd rather stay in AA for 20 years than pitch for the Red Sox again.

I've been playing The Show on my roommate's PS4 (mine is at home in CA) here in NY, which is making me sad that I can't also play Dragon Age or other games until I get home (this is the only game he owns haha).

Working real jobs tends to leave me with more free time than school does. Makes the video game playing more relaxing and consistent too, as opposed to infrequent.

Destiny players - is there a place in the game or online somewhere that tracks any kind of stats on players for fireteams? Basically I wondering if before you invite someone to your team or you join their team if you can figure out if they have a history of kicking people out or dropping out before the fight is over. My oldest has been kicked off a lot lately and while I understand why - no strategy all bull in china shop - I'm wondering if there is a way for me to help him choose better teamates than simply based on their experience level.

I don't understand why if you started over you just didn't pick to be drafted by the Yankees.

I am waiting patiently for the update for where you are traded to the Red Sox.

I know you can pick your team. I didn't want to do that with the pitcher. I did it with my first basemen. I wanted to experience the draft for the different experience of playing for other teams. Except the Red Sox. I'd even pitch for the Mets.

And to your second point, I literally thought the same thing. Watch me get this guy traded to Red Sox. Too funny it would be.

Take a look at EA Access. $30/year and you get to play DA:I, Titanfall, Peggle 2, Madden15, Fifa, etc.You get basically a game library immediately and is probably the best value in console gaming. Also you get 10% off all new EA games, and trials for all.

Try destinytracker.com. You can take a look at their game history.

With the madden TB bundle I get EA access free for a year so I'll definitely be checking that out.

For those Elder Scroll Online guys who don't check into the other thread, we have started a FBG guild so if interested pop over to the ESO thread and we'll get you added.

Titanfall is the best shooter IP since Gears. It is FPS, but it so damn good and nothing like the twitch shooters out there. Strategy is very important as is teamwork. Teamwork means life and death in the game. So fun when teaming up with a few people. Most importantly when playing new people still really help there teams since it the points system is 5/4/1 for kill a titan/human/bot and objectives give solid points too.

I'm not one to invest months and months in a shooter, so I don't play Titanfall anymore, but when I was playing I definitely appreciated the "even if you aren't a FPS twitch God, you still helped" aspect of it.

But yea, organized teams always crushed random guys playing together. I'm not a mic / chat guy, so I never got to that point.

I picked up Dark Souls 2 and im so ####### excited. Ive already beaten it 3 times on the 360 but looking forward tot he updated graphics and DLC, which I haven't experienced cause I never caught it on sale.

Well, playing against the high level guys who are organized kinda sucks. They all run with the Strider-Arc Cannon loadout, which needs a nerf, IMO.

This is the case as any game but I feel there only needs to be two solid people on a side of six for the team to have chance. This is because the solid people (my friend and i) can do well with new people if we take out the other teams titans which you need at least two to have a chance against 3-5 opponent titans. The titans are the only thing with a learning curve but a ideal setup is not tough to reach and can be set to the smart autopilot for better results if needed.

State of Decay anyone?
It's ok. Gets a little repetitive at points, but overall a fun monster smasher / resource manager
Went with The Order:1886 instead.Good looking game but the story is a bit thinly explained at the beginning. I'm not sure what's going on here. Knights with steam punk weapons, lycans, and rebels? Hmmm. Plus your character walks a half beat too slow, which I loathe.

But overall I'm intrigued.
Ended up liking it quite a bit. Imagine Quantic Dream making an Assassin's Creed game.Criticisms of games like this being called too short have got to end. Just because you can't walk around for 45 minutes searching for some magic weed to enhance your elf swords' hit power doesn't mean the game lacks in substance. I'm talking to you, Open World nerds.

Games like this are playable movies and of course are going to be linear.

Yea but not even by open world standards, this game was short.

http://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=20067

Main Story: 7 hours

Main plus extras: 9 hours

Completionist: 10 hours

Doing absolutely everything in 10 hours for $60? That feels like a rip off. The complaints I read from people were that the game was just getting going and then it was over.

10 hours isn't bad. I heard it was a 5 hour game
That is 10 hours at the full completion state. The main game is shorter at roughly 7 hours.

And the times all include cut scenes which can not be skipped. I have heard the cut scenes in the main game total up over an hour.

I picked up X1 the other day and started with Halo Master Chief Collection. Ive never played a Halo game. Its pretty cool, but I hate the warthog.

Im midway through Halo 2, should I play ODST after 2 or play Halo 3 then ODST? Or does it even matter? ODST doesnt come with the collection but its cheap.

Im stuck at the house for a week following an emergency surgery so I figured Ill knock them all out.

ODST before Halo 3 IMO. Reach before all of them.

I guess I can agree that $60 is too much for a 10 hour game but there's lots of good games at that time level.

Heavy Rain

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

Tomb Raider

Walking Dead

Are you talking about Activision's abomination here (that you'd have to pay me $60 to ever touch again)? The TellTale games are priced at $25 each season at full price.

FIFA 16. For offline it will be interesting with the USA Women's team. For online hopefully they make it easier (for me) to make people pay for running two guys right at you.

Yes but I was referring to their length. Like I said, shorter games aren't worth $60. Then again, they have resale value and/or drop in price and/or can be bought used.

Heard from the beta they slowed the gameplay a ton and ball control and accurate passes mean more than pace. Seems like a good change to me.

The new Tomb Raider was short but it was more than 10 hrs. I didn't do a completionist play through and it was still in the mid 20s.

If we're going by HowLongToBeat scores, it's just a little over 11 hours to do the main story and 15 to do the extras.

Anyway, I should have said "about" for Tomb Raider as it's a little longer than the others I mentioned - but some criticized it as being short.

The warthog control sucks in the first Halo. They fixed it starting in Halo 2 though where it's easy and fun as hell.

There's a little more meat to those games.

Heavy Rain: 10, 12.5 & 21.5

Enslaved: 9, 10.5, 18.5

Tomb Raider: 11.5, 15 & 20

Walking Dead: Season 1, 13hrs, S2, 9.5 hrs

Order 1886: 7, 9 & 10

Guess I'm a slow player. Didn't think I did all that many extras. Though to be fair the game did feel short. But then again given my proclivity for open world games a lot of games feel short to me. I mean after Skyrim has taken up over 120 hours without finishing the main storyline anything under 100 hours or so feels short for my money. Can't wait to give FO4 weeks of my spare time.
