Yup. I find the regen and cool-down (coupled with a chain) pressens are more valuable than the power pressen.

It wasn't till that fight that I realized their importance. Waiting for the super moves to recharge killed me more than anything in that battle.

The dodge mechanic is solid and very effective but during that sequence (and any time the game sends a mob at you) it only works so well so you need the cool-down (and regen) to get you through. My nine move combo opens kick, regen-kick, cool-down-kick, chain-punch the rest doesn't matter so much because I only rarely am able to complete all nine moves before having to dodge or getting hit. But having those three pressens (particularly the chain) really helps put me in position to deal more effectively with mobs and more specialized enemies, particularly the Elite Enforcers who need two logic bombs to bring down (they reflect your damage back at you so it is risky engaging them in direct combat).

Remember Me is, I think, only the second Capcom game that I have played, the other being DmC - Devil May Cry which I ended up enjoying as well (even if it was a little button mashy for my taste). I think I am going to take a long look at Lost Planet 3 and maybe even some of the Resident Evil stuff.

Been jonesing to play a couple of older games, despite my impressively massive backlog of Steam, Origin and even console games. Anyone remember the No One Lives Forever series? Well, just 1 and 2. So much fun. Great action and humor. I just don't know if those 2000 and 2002 games will run on my 2015 PC.

No one Lives Forever 2 is one of my favorite games ever. If you figure out how to make it run, let me know! I think I have a disc somewhere.

I had so many games that I got rid of in one way or another. I am at it now, when I am considering buying them for $10-15. I can imagine that in Win7 emulation mode, there is hope. I just don't want to buy it without knowing it will work.

Resident Evil remake and Resident Evil 4 are fantastic. RE5 is OK but more of an action game and RE6 is very Michael Bayified. If you can stomach the controls, the old PS1 versions of RE2 and RE3 are fantastic.Of course I'm very biased when it comes to resident evil.

I play like this with both my kids, it works well. I only have the Marvel game too though.

I don't think it's *very* different, but it depends how you play Skyrim, too.

The quests are much easier, and it's pretty easy to get a "what am I doing again, and why?" feeling. It's also not quite as much "hey, I went 2 miles in that direction and found a huge dwarven ruin, and elven ruin and an old fort".

But it's pretty close to Skyrim if you are a "make your own story" player ("my toon is this, believes that, and fights like this"). It's not as epic and grand in scale (despite being much bigger). And there's other players around helping you / questing with you.

MMOs tend to be more about developing your character rather than the story and environment. You'll care much more about your stats and gear in an MMO than you would in say, Skyrim. For me a game like Skyrim scratches a different gaming itch than any MMO does, even an MMO in the same game world.

For me, in Skyrim, my character was the game. So this works good for me.

I have watched a few vids but I interested to see if anyone has put hours into the game to give an impression.

As a related note, I am almost solely a console player. I see that I can only get DD through Steam. What does that mean? Do I need special software to be running on my computer or is Steam just a way of downloading a game?

I'm years late on this one, but I just stated playing XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Absolutely love it. I bought the original on Steam a couple years back and couldn't recapture how much fun it was when I played it back in high school. At some point, the poor graphics and gameplay outdo the nostalgia factor. BUt this new one modernizes the game but at least so far keeps the fun of the original with the base management vs. turn-based battles.

Once you get the basics down and find the main game a bit predictable, try the long war mod. That gets it back more to that old school outnumbered and outgunned feeling.

I bought both. When I started a new game, it had me choose between Unknown or Within. Figured I should start with the base. I'll need to read on what is different.

Within is basically the same but with some upgraded units and equipment. Different research choices. The main thing is the MELD element and the human enemies you'll now face in some missions.

Yeah, now I'm tempted to just start over and go right to Within. I also turn on Ironman. Love the idea of no re-dos.

I finally beat xcom long war after waaaay more hours then I care to admit. I finally realized that it would be impossible to win on Ironman mode. So I just decided to keep restarting missions until I beat them without any deaths. And even doing that, it was still a #####. I think it took me just under 2 years of game time and more than 50 maxed out soldiers to get through it

I thought I only had the two hour preview than I read there was a code in the game to redeem. Redeemed it last night and the thing is addictive. Not sure how I am going to stop playing this thing.
