Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (11 Viewers)

Road to the Show

I gave up on catcher because it was just so tedious on defense. Not to mention I was RAKING in AA in my second season (like 40+ games in I was hitting .390 and leading the Texas League in doubles) without getting called up on a team with really crapy AAA catchers.

So I made a SS, thought it would be the most fun to field, and am really enjoying it. I get so freaking excited whenever we turn two. It's awesome. And I'm hitting fairly well, although since I started over I haven't had nearly the training points of the other guy and have no power--actually, I have warning track power. Lots of outs.

Hearthstone is a free to play game that generates $20m in revenue per month for Blizzard. I have been playing this for over a year and have not spent any money on it but damn, people sure are.

For such a simple and small game, that type of revenue is amazing for Blizzard. The entire development team at end of beta launch was only 15 people. The profit margin on this game is outrageous.

I tried SS for a bit and was a legitimate mess in the field although I could hit really well. Might have to give that another go.

Normally I would be too, but I'm nowhere near caught up on my backlog of games from last Christmas. Having kids is the worst.

I'm about to join the Red Sox in the playoffs as a starter. Not Happy.

My Yankees 1B is a stud and will lead the Yankees to the World Series this year. I'm a mix of Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, Mike Tout, Barry Bonds and christ.

But my playing time has been decreased to nil as I have allowed my oldest to play Destiny. I may never see the playstation again. Seems like a fun game though.

I decided to not choose my team, so I ended up on the Angels. Hoping to make the Show in my second year. Last night they called me up to AAA but have me playing 2B there :(

Turning two is really, really, really fun. Like, it's awesome. Can't emphasize this enough.

Haven't had a chance to play in a couple of weeks. The Twins traded me back to the Padres where we just missed the playoffs after stroming back from 10 games under .500 in August. Next season (2019 I think) has not started well. A month into it and I'm slumping pretty hard - and by slumping I mean batting below 350 and well off the HR pace. A good season for anyone else, but pretty poor for the guy who has won the AL MVP and NL MVP in back to back years. The team, after starting 10-1 is also around .500 again. Our bullpen sucks.

The Show--My 18 yo pitcher was just called up to the Reds--after going 7-0, 0.28 ERA, 125/18 K/BB ration in 9 games in AAA. Started and struck out the side in my two All-Star innings...and then was called up to the Reds.

Still at level 67 and the Cards hammered me in my 2nd start. Reds D stinks. I'm going to request a trade.

I finally allowed my 8 year old to play God of War. Pretty fun to watch him run through it.

I have some real dumb questions and would really appreciate some help fellas.

I think my PS3 is dying, if the game disc is not 100% clean it freezes and doesn't load...the memory is full and I'm noticing lag in some game play.

I'm OK with upgrading to a PS4, but would like to backup/save as much game content as possible. I will still use my PS3 as we have tons of games and files.

Are PS3 games playable on the PS4?

Can I use a thumbdrive to expand storage on my PS3? If so, is it as easy as plug and play?

Thanks :tebow: :tebow: :tebow:

PS3 discs will not work on PS4.

I believe you can download PS3 games and have them run though

PS3 games are available as a Netflix-style streaming service where you pay $X for a Y amount of time. They're not downloaded but streamed.

You can either add a new HD to your PS3 (moving files from the old drive to the new and then installing the new gets a bit tricky though) or you can pretty simply add an external drive.

Playing Everyone has Gone To Rapture.

AMAZING GAME.
BioShock related?
Not at all.

Indie game by Chinese House.

I don't want to spoil it. It's only 19.99 on PSN and well worth it. If you love cinematic, exploration, open world, amazing soundtrack, voice acting.....go for it. It is about 9-10 hours. And the experience can vary player to player. All depends if your an explorer or not.

The graphics and music is pretty stunning.

I'll keep it on the radar. Unfortunately I wish I had extra dough to pay full price for an indie company. Buy I'll have to wait till it drops below $10.

I don't know how you guys can play the Road as anything but a starting pitcher. It just seems so tedious. A couple ABs and some boring defense and the game is done...time to wait to load to the options screen!

So the Red Sox made the World Series last night. I had to pitch for them. And I had to win. And I had to hold the trophy when they beat the Nationals. But I had no joy.

Contract renewal time and they wanted me to sign a long term deal to eat up by renewal years and arbitration years. I was having no such thing. I demanded a salary of $15 million for 1 year. They finally got fed up with me but I kept at it. I offered them that contract at least 50 times but they would not budge. Apparantly, I was being "unrealistic." Pfft. So they finally forced a one year renewal on me for like 600K. Couldn't even enjoy my World Series appearance.

So the new season begins....... and the demand trade option has not been given to me yet. But I will demand it. Oh yes, I will demand it.

Agreed they are awesome....Yankees fans unite!!!

State of Decay anyone?
It's ok. Gets a little repetitive at points, but overall a fun monster smasher / resource manager
Went with The Order:1886 instead.Good looking game but the story is a bit thinly explained at the beginning. I'm not sure what's going on here. Knights with steam punk weapons, lycans, and rebels? Hmmm. Plus your character walks a half beat too slow, which I loathe.

But overall I'm intrigued.

Just installed a PS2 emulator on my PC. Great thing about this is that it can play the game at a much higher resolution than TVs so the graphics are crystal clear for all these old game instead of jagged looking. Gonna be busy for a while.

Congratulations on the move into the big leagues, Y23K. That's awesome! Here's hoping for a World Series title in the near future.
With a NY vs BOS championship series.
With Y23 pitching the 9th inning of game 7.....bases loaded, 2 outs, Sox up by 1....WWY23D?
I really don't know.
I feel you. I think if I was traded to the Dodgers, I would simply delete my player. Nobody deserves to play for those #####.
All this talk of the pitching trials and tribulations got me to start my Ramon Martinez pitcher (yes, Pedro's older brother). Third round pick to the Dodgers (by choice). Gave up a grand slam in the 4th inning of his AA debut. Off to an auspicious start.
No wonder he got lit up. Has to be pushing 50, no?

can you give a link to the emulator you are using?

Are the games free?

You need the BIOS from your PS2 and the iso image of your game disks.

Of course these are "available" at certain places and ethical if you do own the games but dont want to hassle with making the iso's.

You weren't eligible for arbitration?

My last deal was a 1 year deal with the Padres for $12MM but free agency is coming...

I also had a nice stretch where I pinch hit in the 9th and hit a homerun and then in the next game hit homeruns in my next two at bats on the first pitch. 3 pitches, 3 HRs.

It was my rookie season so no arbitration yet. The demand trade option has still not appeared as we head into May. I'm getting more angry as the game moves forward.

What difficulty are you playing at?

I'm running multiple players, so I'm not nearly as far along as you are. But, whenever I get a power hitter to the majors, I have a hard time keeping up the power stroke.

Between Civ5, the PGA Championship, and the PS4, I was a lazy pile yesterday. Working feels like a video game right now. I really crappy one but a video game nonetheless.

Mine is adjusting the difficulty up every time I have a good at bat, and down every time I suck (it seems). Right now when I come to the plate it flashed "Difficulty: Hall of Fame+ Progress ++"

ETA: Good at bats mean I manage to wait for a high fastball, and bad at bats means the pitcher throws any number of offspeed stuff, which I flail at weakly. Most games tend to be like 1 for 4 or 1 for 5, with a walk, an XB hit, and 3 strikeouts. Occasionally a strikeout becomes a single or an out on a ball in play, but I'm like a three true outcomes guy who hits the ball in the gap instead of over the fence :/

Just finished Everyone Has Gone To Rapture.

9/10

Highly recommend this title.
Over the course of the game, the player slowly pieces together the fate of the valley from the fragmentary memories of the people who made it their home.
Does it turn out that the adults are on vacation and that the daughter has decided to run off with her lesbian girlfriend? I played that game and was disappointed with the ending.

I dropped a towering homerun on top of the Metal Supply Co. roof at Petco field. Near as I can tell that's never been done. Lots of people have it it and hit the upper deck but I don't think anyone's put one on the roof.

I play guess pitch because it makes up for my tendency to swing at crap a bit by letting me use my brain to outsmart the pitcher. When I get it right, if it's a fastball in the zone or just above it, I'll use a regular, not power, swing and directional hitting to go with the positioning of the pitch. I only use power swing if I guess an offspeed pitch correctly low in the zone.

Whenever it is 0-0 or I am ahead in the count, I guess the primary fastball for the pitcher, up and away, and I directional swing a power swing. I have only hit like 10 HR total in 2 full seasons (shortstop, other attributes), but a solid 6 or 7 of those have been correctly guessed pitch to the opposite field. The others are the same thing, but against a lefty and more in the middle/inside of the plate.

Basically, when I guess I guess a fastball in the red hot zone. Against a righty that's up and away, against a lefty that's up and down the middle for my guy.

Any tips from the RTTS vets? Better approaches to hitting?

I guess straight up (high) and typically fastballs unless I get to 2 strikes. I never power swing when I guess correctly. A directional, regular swing will put a large number of these over the wall or in the gap. I'll also swing at high fastballs out of the zone within reason. Anything center of the plate or left gets pulled, anything away I go opposite field, although occasionally, I'll go straight center field if it's just a little away. On 0-2, I'll always guess slider away if they are same handed and have one or low and away (I don't like guessing the corners) or change up low if they don't have it. I'll also tell myself repeatedly that they are going to throw me junk. Be on guard though because sometimes they'll throw a strike intentionally or because of bad placement. Whenever they throw me a high inside fastball, I guess low change on the next pitch. If you ever swing at a change or a slider and miss for strike 2, it's not a bad idea to assume the next pitch is going to be the same in similar location. Otherwise, with 2 strikes, I'm usually guessing low change up as that's my biggest weakness. I can usually recognize sliders or curve balls (but still swing at a stupid amount). If I guess correctly at a curve or change up I power swing without direction. If it's a slider in the zone, I'll treat it as I would a fastball. If I didn't guess correctly I will never use power swing or try and steer it.

Also - PVIS is your friend
