Vikes ? Eagles (1 Viewer)

I'm certain they could play this game in the snow. At issue is probably the fact that the league doesn't think the fans can make it to the game in those conditions. So to accommodate the fans, they moved the game to tuesday.
lol i think there were people already tailgating

The NFL has moved to inform all Fantasy Football commissioners across the country that the game is to be treated as a 2nd week 17 game for statistical purposes. Attempts are being made to contact all affected leagues. Greg Aiello states that the NFL will override all Fantasy commissioner decisions to make the Tuesday game a week 16 event.
How can anyone overide every fantasy football league? Stats for this game will count for week 16 in the leagues commish. If it comes down to it, I will add them manually.
In what world does two teams playing two games in one week make sense?
Agreed, it does not sound reasonable
NFL week ends on Monday. Not sure why this is so hard for people to grasp.
:pics: I'm in the championship this week against a team with Vick and AP....our league doesn't allow substitutions after 1 PM Sunday...have fun with the goose eggs, sucker...

Once the Snow Emergency was declared and people were asked to stay home; it puts the NFL on the spot IMO..it becomes a lose lose situation for them.

So the Eagles and Vikings are both playing double headers in week 17? SWEET! I'm going to roll in my Week 17 Championship Game with Vick, McCoy, Peterson, Desean, Maclin, and Joe Webb (in my WR spot).

I doubt I'm that lucky, though. Any fantasy league worth playing in will have the stats from Tuesday's game counted toward Week 16 points. To suggest the NFL week has to end on a Monday is ridiculous when dealing with a major exception like a postponed game.

It's been mandated by the NFL... do you make up your own scores willy-nilly or use the official stats? It is what it is. Fantasy Football players are nothing of not adaptive. The smart players are making the adjustment now instead of crying later.

:goodposting: The city made the first call, and the league had to follow suit.
yep- mayor of Philly is a collossal idiot..
Are you in the city? I'm frustrated too, but it's too early to call anyone an idiot, a collossal one at that. ;) It all depends on the weather from 8-midnight. If it's falling at an inch+ per hour, there's no way the roads are clear for 60k going home.

COLLOSSAL idiot.. doesn't want to pay OT on a Sunday night.. started crying to the NFL.. tomorrow, after 8 or so inches, people will be calling him worse...

Would you be ok with the possiblity of driving the Walt Whitman in 50mph winds and white out conditions?

So I do get points from 2 weeks in my Week 17 Championship Game, then? That's huge!Although I seriously doubt that this game will not officially count toward week 16. I'd be surprised for that decision to be "mandated" without Football Guys sending me an email.

No consideration should have been given for the fans. That's a weak excuse. Going to an NFL game is a priviledge, not a right! They can take it on themselves to stay home or risk the travel. Will we cancel games now for rain? Fog?

This is nothing but another move by Goodell to make sure points are scored and offenses continue to dominate. That's the NFL's new MO. They will cancel and move games for more points on the scoreboard. It's sad.

Again, they want people to stay home so they can keep roads clear for morning rush... Things more important then FF.As for tailgating there were a few there, not many..

Snow Emergency = State of Emergency: people mandated to stay in to keep road crews on top of roads. Can't do roads if there are pileups everywhere. This goes beyond football, why is it so hard to understand.. NFL had no choice here

Yahoo has posted their official stace:

GAME ALERT: The Vikings VS Eagles game has been postponed until Tuesday, December 28th at 8:00 PM EST. Scoring for this game will still count towards week 16 stats.

Did they say anything about allowing Webb to be played at WR despite his solely being a QB?

emergency?? because some yahoo mayor says it is?? couple inches of snow is not an emergency.. NFL screwed the pooch here.. ratings would have been recordbreaking for this one.. nobody is forced to drive to the game- the attendees would make up about .000001% of the viewing audience

I'm dying to know just how much snow Philly has - right now. Anyone?
I'm less than 10 miles due west of the stadium and I'd guess around 4 inches. It has gotten noticeably colder and the wind has increased in the last hour or so. I was also driving around about an hour ago and while I was able to move ok it was slippery and slow going. It sucks to move the game but its probably the right decision. People's safety should trump people's entertainment.

I am exactly 12.3 driving miles north of the stadium. btw, the street was NOT plowed in that first pic either
That's a blizzard? Where's the snow? From the first pic, it doesn't look like the snow is covering any of the wheel on the parked cars..
Exactly. The mayor ####ed up big time along with the NFL. At most there is 4 inches. It is windy so alot of the snow is getting blown around also. It is an absolute joke and the NFL and our mayor should be ripped to shreds.

I need a huge game from McCoy and Vick. If they come through I am sending a donation to the Mayors next campaign.

They could have played even if they didn't plow the field lol.

Seriously man, calm down. I asked parrothead earlier, would you be ok with the possibility of driving across the Walt Whitman in 35mph winds and blowing snow? Safe to assume you're playing against Vick? Other than that, has it really ruined your holiday?

so, are you saying that the NFL should start cancelling games when there is 35 MPH winds and blowing snow?? Bottom line, the NFL screwed up by listenting to that moron mayor.. 20 inches?? There haave been plenty of bad weather games in Denver, NE, Buffalo, Chicago, etc that fans have figured out a way to get to and from...

Cousin is 5 miles SE of City and said they have 6" and they can't see the house across the street... Their township were told police to escort off the road anyone who is on them on township roads.

I'm across the river in Jersey...we just got a recorded call from our township. Not allowed on the roads until 1pm tomorrow. Severe weather is forecasted till after midnight with sustained winds of 30 mph.

This is probably the most idiotic decision ever from the NFL. I'm sure we'll be seeing this again, especially if there's another pending "blizzard" and team possibly has injured stars that they wouldn't mind benefiting from a couple more days of rest.

Update on the Blizzard of the Century...about 3 inches so far north of the city. Windy
Update?I'm about 10 minutes from the stadium, it looks like we already have about 10 inches here, maybe more. Still coming down.I think it was the right move to postpone the game. I can't imagine people tailgating for 5 or 6 hours, drinking during the game and then trying to drive home in this. If you want to get mad at someone, get mad at NBC. This game was supposed to be at 1pm (and probably would have been played), then NBC didn't want to only be able to show the game in local markets on Monday so they moved it to Tuesday to get their ratings.

Six WHOLE inches? The forecast this morning said there would be close to 2 feet by now  SNOWMAGGEDDON!!Games should not be cancelled due to pressure from host cities- wait till next season, when teams start manipulating the weather forecasts.. terrible precident to set... ESPN and NBC are both questioning the decision..

 yup

Here in Hampton Roads, VA., we got 16 inches today...the most in one day in about ten years, and more then the last 5 years COMBINED TOTAL snowfall. This is a Noreaster, and the predictions for Philly were almost certainly correct. The NFL made the right decision.

When locals are NOT ALLOWED TO TRAVEL...the NFL has no choice but to postpone.

huh?? ah, yes I HAVE driven the WW bridge in high winds and snow.. there are plenty of bridges in NFL cities.. should we cancel games when the winds are high too??? :loco:

Idiotic how? Cause people safety is first? As I reported, NBC was having problems with their signal, there was a big chance it wouldn't have b televised anyways.

This isn't about the game, it's about the families and employees traveling to the game. You all need to gain some perspective.
I will repeat!I worked in Wisconsin for 30 years and my place of employment NEVER closed because of snow. NEVER!

This country has become a bunch of babies.
Repeating it does not make it right. Please explain why southern cities that rarely experience any snow scramble when anything more than a dusting occurs?
have you seen southern california when they get a little rain? it's all over the news, STORM WATCH 2010 etc.
Ha. The point is that cities/states like Wisconsin, upstate NY, Vermont, etc, are very well equipped to handle snow. Buffalo rarely shuts down unless it's awful. 20" in Philly is much more likely to shut down a city than 20" in Buffalo :goodposting:
Yeah because Philly never gets snow.
