Vikings Auditioning Four Players for KR Duties? (1 Viewer)

From the Footballguys News Blogger:

The Minnesota Vikings have been working out three players on kick-off returns so far this off-season, including running back Mewelde Moore, cornerback Dovonte Edwards and wide receiver Kevin Kasper. However, the team has also not ruled out the possibility of having Pro Bowl kick returner Koren Robinson retain those duties in 2006. "I am not necessarily looking for another option" on returns, Childress said. "I mean, [Robinson] was an All-Pro kick returner. The unknown factor is when you factor in more snaps on offense, you just have to see if it takes away from his effectiveness...So you weigh what is more important, the starting wide receiver or return abilities?"

Kasper has experience on kickoffs (with Arizona, Denver, and New England) although he's probably a long shot to make the team.

Dovonte Edwards has a grand total of zero kickoff returns during one year in the NFL and four years at NC State.

Mewelde Moore has been more effective on punts returns rather than kickoffs.

Troy Williamson, Ciatrick Fason, Chester Taylor, and/or R.J. Cobbs could also get a look at some point during the pre-season.

Unless the Vikings change their mind on double duties, Koren will probably keep the job.
