When I saw this injury at the weekend, I figured it was the kind that would have a long recovery time. It looks like we'll be seeing a lot more of former Georgia CB Asher Allen in the lineup in 2010, at least early on.

Agreed. I just don't see the upside.

I think some players request to play on special teams, but I'm not positive if that's the case here.

This is true as they can accumulate more tackles and reach certain bonuses in their contracts. The Vikings have to draft a DB within the first 2 rounds this year as that was their only weakness on D.
