Cedric Griffin suffers torn ACL

Cedric Griffin suffers torn ACL

Posted by Michael David Smith on October 12, 2010 3:36 PM ET

We noted this morning that Vikings cornerback Cedric Griffin was going to have an MRI on his knee after getting hurt Monday night against the Jets. Now the results are in, and they're not good.

Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune reports that Griffin suffered a torn ACL. He'll miss the rest of the season.

Griffin started all 16 games in 2009 but tore his left ACL in the playoffs. This injury is to his right ACL.

Now Griffin will begin a long rehab process and attempt to show in 2011 that a player with two surgically repaired ACLs can make it in the NFL.

It's so sad. How he came back from the injury to his right knee this quickly is still a mystery.

You could see it on his face last night that he knew immediately that he'd torn it.

He totally knew. Such a downer for a guy after working so hard to get back so fast.

:excited: Always hate to see it for anyone...especially those that bust their humps to get back after that kind of thing.

Totally. Just like Tracy Porter, except Griffin's missing more time :(

Really hard luck on Griffin. I just can't believe that the same injury occurred to his other knee. It's crazy how life can turn sometimes. Heal up fast Ced.
