Vikings/Jets trade (1 Viewer)

Nice trade for Minnesota. I'm a big Bollinger fan, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's the starter -- and does well -- at some point this year. After his first real experience, he should be a lot better. And Johnson, at 38 by week two, shouldn't be as good as he was last year.

Why the confusion? Jackson isnt ready to be a backup, McMahon doesnt belong on an NFL roster.
I can't figure out what they see in him? I am glad that the Vikes are going to put McMahon on the road. Wait for it! Jackson will be the man next season, write that down.

Bolinger a Badger when Childress was there? Makes sense if he was. Well, make sense even if wasn't, Jackson not ready YET.

I dont think youll find anyone who disagrees with you about that, but BJ is 38 yrs old, and they need someone who isnt Jackson who can play in his stead should he be injured.

Agreed, but with Jeff George coming back why didn't the Vikings give Cunningham or Moon a call?

I'm interested as to why you are a Bollinger fan. I watched him a lot in college and he always had happy feet. His athletic ability is pretty good, but I would say T. Jackson is already more talented than Bollinger.

How cool would it have been for Moon to come back after just being inducted to the HOF?

There is an interesting article on the Blogger about how the Vikings refusal to upgrade Brad Johnson's salary, severly limited their prospects for a backup QB, as they could not bring in a backup that would be making more than their starter.

If I were a Vikings fan I would be upset about this. Don't the Vikings have cap space? Brad Johnson is ancient and has a history of injury problems.

Cheap Vikings

In 1998 they were. Bollinger was red shirted, and Childress left after that season.

28/42, 327 yards, 2 TDs @ Miami last year, when the Dolphins were playing very good football and Bollinger had no weapons outside of Coles.19/28, 251 yards, 1 TD vs. NO last year.He also played well in spurts against the Bills and Chargers.Sure, overall he wasn't very good last year. But he was a second year QB who had 9 passes his rookie season, and took very few snaps in training camp (he was the QB3). He had no OL, no RB and only 1 WR. Despite all that, he looked very good in spurts. And overall, he looked better his first year starting -- especially when you take into account his supporting cast -- than say, Eli Manning. Bollinger's pedigree is pretty poor, but what he did last year was pretty impressive to me. Of course, Ray Lucas also looked great for a short period of time too.

BB doesn't have a big arm, doesn't have a pocket presence and has a tendency to get his passes batted down. He scrambles to make plays and possesses a scrappy attitude. That's a QB3 in my book.

Jets win this trade.

I agree with Chase.... Bollinger was blamed for the first 3 losses under his watch, but he had no support from Edwards at all.... the playbook was CLOSED. Once Edwards gave up (and that IS what he did) with access to more of the playbook, Bolly did OK. I think he was better than Ramsey. Is he a fututre franchise QB? No, but his mobility and gutsiness took him a long way last year. This kid took it on the chin for Edwards last year.... he deserved better. Geeze, how happy am I that that turd Edwards is gone....

I don't think the Jets were planning on keeping 4 QBs. Curious which QB, out of Bollinger or Ramsey, were the Jets planning on cutting.

What's the upside of paying Johnson more so we can get a better backup? Most likely, Johnson isn't going to bring us to the Super Bowl, nor is any QB we're going to acquire at this point. We are a couple more players away from being a legit contender, so I have no problem wasting money so we can be a sligtly more mediocre team this year. The future in Jackson is supposedly on the roster, so I know we are just treading water until he's ready anyway.

... And Damon Huard, And Jay Fiedler and maybe even Volek?I totally agree that Herm was a coaching Bozo and Bollinger had no support. But, I also think Bollinger is far from a successful NFL QB that can take you to the promised land - Possibly a decent backup like the guys mentioned before.Reminds me of Fiedler.I remember wanting the Jets to draft Mosely - Bollinger would probably be cut so, I like it.

I think the Jets did well in this trade, Mosely is a very solid player.
