From RotoWorld:

Vikings RB Chester Taylor and DE Erasmus James reportedly got into a fight after Thursday's practice.

James is said to have punched Taylor in the face, causing Chester to hit James with a chair. Coach Brad Childress called a team meeting afterwards, and Taylor showed up with a black eye. James was added to the injury report with a hurt shoulder. Taylor is about 5-11/210 and James is 6-4/260+.

WR-Michael Westbrook & RB- Stephen Davis from the Washington Redskins :boxing:

I didn't draft Davis for he just took the hits, westbrook went off on him. Now many years down Westbrook NFL dud & Davis well

Word has it that James' beef was really with both RBs but Childress decided to leave Chester in that volatile situation longer than Peterson since Taylor is Brad's guy.

Sometimes when teammates get into fights, it can be the spark that puts them on a winning streak. Unfortunately, in this case, the person who should've been hit with the chair is Childress.

Years ago I never would have thought that a fight between two guys named Chester and Erasmus would something I would be scared to be within 10 yards of :drive:

The teams will be coming out of the tunnel for their next game and Chester will blindside Erasmus with brass knuckles and then piledrive him.

 M Westbrook beat him down. It was pathetic. S Davis was small back then, never expected him to become a productive lead back. Solid career, though. M Westbrook wasn't a bum his entire career, just most of it.

How was that a good posting? It didn't even make sense. It was barely even legible! Just asking.

James has yet to be active for a game this year. So the chances are pretty good that if Chester goes looking for James in the tunnel, he may never find him. :stalker: :goodposting:

Yeah of course.... After looking through the Emoticons for the whistling one I came acroos this one  and feel it should now be :chester:

I assume Chester said some thing along the lines" All you over paid under achieving Badgers around here really sucks! "Starting with you & coach" Well he probably didn't include coach, but he was thinking it!!

Coach Brad Childress said, "This incident, while regrettable, will not prevent me from starting Chester Taylor and giving him a number of carries that make no sense to anyone but me. So what if Taylor get 2 yards a carry, and Adrian gets 5? It's my perogative to be a ******* and an idiot, and that's what I'm going to be. In fact, when I get the #1 dradt pick next year (and that's a lock, by the way) I'm going to spend it on John David Booty. I've spoken to Coach Carroll at USC and it's obvious that we're two coaches who think alike. Screw the world! Booty can start handing off to Taylor next year. Adrian will have to contribute some other way..."

I may have paraphrased him a little, but you get the general idea...

Uhhh, news flash...Stephen Davis was never small. Okay, maybe when he was a young kid in elementary school, but he was a FB at first and that within itself tells you that he wasn't small. Westbrook was proficient in martial arts, so I doubt he cared what the size was of the person he was hitting either. Westbrook was young minded, but had talent. He had the knack of always making a mistake (penalty or wrong route) at the exact wrong time.

Vikings | James says fight was about a misunderstanding

Fri, 12 Oct 2007 12:56:36 -0700

Updating a previous report, Sean Jensen, of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, reports Minnesota Vikings DE Erasmus James said the scuffle between him and RB Chester Taylor was over a misunderstanding. "Everything is good. It was a little misunderstanding, but we all cleared it up. It's all good. We're ready to move on," James said. Taylor did not want to comment about the altercation

You might not have meant it to be, but that's an exact quote. It's what he says to himself in the mirror every morning before laughing maniacally and putting on his cape.

Thanks for the news flash, sport. Pull up the video, S Davis added a lot of bulk after he was in the pros and was on smaller when he came out vs. his later years. And Westbrook didn't use any martial arts in that beatdown, he just pummeled him, champ.Wow, way to take a light subject and buzzkill the thing, ace. :bag: Guess you couldn't have anyone questioning your precious pinkskins.

You don't know what you're talking about. Westbrook - a big guy at 6'3", 220 lbs. - sucker punched Davis who was around 6'0" and 230 lbs. That was Davis' drafted weight, and that was his playing weight. It was definitely a beat down, but it had nothing to do with Davis being small.

That is what happened.
The Associated Press

August 20, 1997

.............The incident occurred shortly after Westbrook, Davis, Cris Dishman and Brian Mitchell were standing together on the sideline engaged in what appeared to be light-hearted conversation.

After the group broke up, Westbrook, who is 6-foot-3 and weighs 220 pounds, hit Davis (6-0, 234) in the face. Davis fell to the ground, with Westbrook punching him several times in the back of the head.

As Davis was on the ground, Dishman pulled Westbrook away and said: ``That was wrong, man,''

It was definitely a sucker punch. Not surprising, considering how soft the pinkskins were in those days.Pretty typical to see the thinskin fans all nit-picking on the details though to prove how smart they think they are. Glad to see things haven't changed much since thesedays.

Call it frustration. Call it tempers flaring in the heat of battle. But what most of us simply call it is a fight.

That’s what happened in the locker room of the Vikings Wednesday after practice, according to several media reports, a dust-up serious enough for head coach Brad Childress to call a team meeting to address the matter.

According to those who were in the locker room at the time, the incident erupted between defensive end Erasmus James and running back Chester Taylor. While it was unclear what got the argument to turn physical, James threw a punch that hit Taylor in the right side of the face below his eye. Taylor then retaliated by throwing a chair at James that missed and inadvertently hit left tackle Bryant McKinnie, according to the Star Tribune. Taylor, who is very good friends with McKinnie, allegedly stopped the fight when he saw his friend had been hit with the chair.

During the open locker room media session Thursday, Taylor was seen sporting a black eye. Interestingly, James was added to the injury report with what was termed a shoulder injury. It is unclear whether the injury occurred during Wednesday’s practice or was the result of his altercation with Taylor. Sunday could be the first game James has played since tearing his left ACL in the second game of the 2006 season. Or he could continue to be deactivated.

So who actually got hit by the chair? Will this result in a tag team match for the belts?
