Big fan of Gilligan, will be checking this one out for sure.

Vince Gilligan’s mysterious new project, which has wrapped production in Albuquerque, apparently goes by the title “Wycaro 339.” They’ve filmed 10 episodes. Gilligan has hinted that the project felt like a return to his roots (“The X-Files”).

We now have an update (via LNE). Gilligan was asked about the current timeline of his show, and is confirming that he expects a release on Apple TV+ sometime “in the summer of 2025, or a little later.” So, we might be getting this one much sooner than expected.

This is a big test for Gilligan as his last two acclaimed shows (“Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul”) were very much part of the same world. The showrunner is now branching out into what is rumored to be a sci-fi project. ‘Saul’ star Rhea Seehorn (who played Kim Wexler) is the lead.

Anytime I have the chance, I ask around about this series. It’s shrouded in total secrecy and barely any hints have shown up. Someone had previously disclosed to me that it was “neo-apocalyptic" in nature, and that it might have to do with Aliens, disguised as humans, who try to cause chaos in the world. I contacted Apple for confirmation, and they obviously declined to comment.

More on Wycaro:

As for the plot, Deadline described it as a “fun, mild sci-fi series” (or alternately, a “blended, grounded genre drama”) that’s “said to be set in our world while putting a tweak on it, bending reality and focusing on people and exploring the human condition in an unexpected, surprising way."

Gilligan has confirmed the “sci-fi element” to the show, and added that it’s “going to be fun and different. I have no prediction as to how folks to react to it — whether they’ll love it or hate it, or somewhere in the vast in-between. But I know it’s a story that interests me.” There will be “no crime and no methamphetamine,” but he did tease that “the world changes very abruptly in the first episode, and then it is quite different. And the consequences that that reaps hopefully provide drama for many, many episodes after that.”

I've only gotten through the first few eps of season one but Severance seems like a winner. 🧠
Halfway through Season 1. Getting tired of them hiding the ball. It's not building suspense...it's becoming annoying.
Stick with it. I don’t think you’ll regret it. It does lull a bit in the middle of the first season.
