Vince Young... (1 Viewer)

Dynasty salary cap league...I've got the 1.08 pick in the rookie draft this year...

Team is in sig... needing to go down to 340$ in the off-season, Losman is a sure drop... that leaves me with CPalmer as my lone QB...

At the 8th spot... I figure I might have a shot at: Calhoun, Davis, Holmes, Leinart or Young depending on who's gone with the 5th, 6th and 7th spot...

Since my WR crew is getting older by the minute (we can flex with a TE)... I'm leaning toward VDavis or SHolmes with that pick... but, might the better pick be VYoung... as a possible elite WR in the NFL?...

If he makes it as a QB - I've got him and Palmer for the long run - really not bad - nice trade value...

and if he doesn't make it as a QB - will he be AREII/MJonesII? or even better? or worse? or never a WR?

Your thoughts on that... a good idea to try and snatch him up instead of Calhoun, Davis or Holmes?

Vince Young WILL be a QB in the NFL. He has the ability to throw in the pocket and run if necessary. If he doesn't work out as a QB, then he might end up at wide receiver.

Young will not switch and no one is asking him to. Beleive what you want, you are wasting a pick if you think he is moving positions.

Young is too good of a qb to move to wr.

College qb's who have moved to wr generally aren't as skilled and high profile at the quarterback position. D. Bennett, M. Jones, H. Ward, Randel-el, etc. weren't ranked among the top two qb's going into the draft.

We'll have to wait and see what all the scouts say about him and how he does at the combine, if he even goes, he may be too high profile for that.

He'll get every chance to succeed as a NFL QB as his upside as a QB is very high. His high draft position will probably give him a few chances to succeed(Harrington,Leaf,Couch).

Vince will throw at the combine, that's already been announced. He also said he won't run at the combine because teams already know he can run. That tells you what you need to know. You're wasting your time if you think Vince is moving to WR in the NFL. That thinking is about a year and a half out of date. He's a QB all the way, so draft him accordingly.

Vince will be a good NFL QB, but if for some reason he fails at QB, he could be an elite WR.

I agree he should be moved to WR, 6-5 230 lbs, he would be like a Matt Jones

With his level of stupidity, he might have to become a RB.

I tend to think Matt Jones was an incredible fluke and what happened with him will not be copied by Young, even if he doesn't make it as a QB.

The difference here is that Matt Jones made a concerted effort early on to become a WR and he had the freakish skill set to do so. At the very least, Young will have 3-4 years to prove himself as a QB in the pros and by that point there would be no turning back. Also, while Young has some skills that even Matt Jones would salivate for, he does not have some others that would ne needed to succeed as an NFL WR.

Matt Jones probably wouldn't be in the league if hadn't switched positions. Despite the good natured mockery on websites Vince Young remains a highly successful quarterback who has the potential to be drafted early in this years draft.
