If you watched the entire SD vs Oakland game, Keenan Allen only got his once the Raiders were in "prevent D" (didn't prevent ####) that opened up HUMONGOUS holes in the secondary. Allen is not going to see that every week. Vincent Brown looked like the more complete WR throughout the game and Rivers seemed to look more his way when the game wasn't in catchup mode. I think Brown has more value going forward, but if Rivers keeps it up, they should both be decent WR3 options.
This "garbage time" crap is just that, crap. Quoting werdnoynek from the hype train thread..
However, actually looking at the game again, I don't think we can really call the 4th quarter garbage time. They were within 7 after the Allen TD with 10 minutes left. Oakland got a FG on the next drive and they were down 10 with 4:24 left. That isn't garbage time... the game is on the line there and they were making a comeback (and almost did FWIW). On the next drive, SD drove down to the Oakland 4 yd line - Allen was targetted 3 times and Brown just once. Then Rivers threw a bad pass to Allen in the endzone for an INT. He was wide open and the pass was late / behind him. Allen had 5 targets in the 4th quarter. Brown had only 1. The game was on the line and he was looking to Allen often including twice in the endzone.
That says a lot about River's confidence in the rookie IMO. Garbage time? I think not.
The guy started his post with "If you watched the the entire SD vs. Oakland game...". With that said, if you did watch the game, I don't know how you can argue with his point. Whether the game was only 7 points or not, Allen got 70 yards by being left wide open as a result of Oakland playing prevent defense. You could question the rationale of Oakland playing that kind of defense while only being up by 10 points, but you can't question the fact that that's exactly what happened.
