Vincent Jackson--is now the time to buy? (1 Viewer)

I'm really starting to warm up to VJax moving forward, especially with Glennon under center. I find it hard to believe, given how bad TB has played, that they go back to McCown when he's fully healthy. Glennon targeted VJax last year early and often, and I don't see a reason why that would not be the case this year. Aside from getting a ton of targets, that defense is putrid and VJax should be in line for major GTP. When you look at the big picture , I see no reason why he can't put up low end WR1 numbers the rest of the way. Yes, he's battling a wrist injury, but he practiced in full this week and the fracture shouldn't be too much of an issue. Finally, he has a decent schedule moving forward. Who is with me?

I disagree with you. Glennon is running an offense called by QB coach Marcus Arroyo. He's not qualified to run an NFL offense, and it shows. The offensive line of the Bucs is far from gelling, they are a work in progress at best.

As for Mike Glennon, he's a big immobile QB. I watched him up close at Bucs games last year. He looks robotic and stiff. He was reasonably good because he fit Greg Schiano's sytstem. The definition of a system QB. Bucs OC Jeff Tedford has taken indefinite leave because of health issues and the system he was in the process of installing is an up-tempo offense similar to Chip Kelly's offense in Philly. To run that kind of offense, you need a mobile QB that can make plays with his arm and with his legs. A guy who can make throws on the run and in broken containment. That guy is not Mike Glennon. When the pocket breaks down, he goes down like a sack of potatoes.

I'm just trying to do you a favor. Don't buy VJAX now. Wait awhile, his price will bottom out. You might be able to get him for peanuts.

Jackson hadn't done much after three weeks last season either. Then Mike Glennon took over. Now is the perfect time to buy.

VJax is really the only bright spot on the entire team.... on a team that always plays from behind.... and he's been targeted 25 times in 3 games.

It can only get better for him w/ Glennon.

He's been open, really open, tell you that much. But the offense seems confused, the kind of thing you usually see from a bad defense. QB looking the wrong way, linemen out of position, RBs hanging out in space with nowhere to go, weird and frustrating. I think the most dismaying thing is that Tedford is now out for the season. I would have said definite buy here but the offense doesn't seem to be in good hands right now. Maybe Glennon makes a difference that's the only hope, if not now then never (this year). The TD vs ATL was a total illegal pushoff that was only allowed so everyone could get out the stadium, otherwise he had 1 catch for maybe 8 yards the whole game.

The offensive line looks downgraded from last year. And that's troubling, because it was the first thing Lovie called out when he came to town, saying he needed to fix the line. Well the guards they brought in turned out to be crap and they made a panic trade for Logan Mankins hoping to put a bandaid on it. Comical displays of ineptitude like the shotgun snap by Dietrich-Smith to Glennon where he fumbled it off his own butt are the norm. It's clear that this offensive line is far from gelling. Protection issues were an issue for McCown and they will be an issue for Glennon. I think more so than last year, but we'll see. Maybe the line will eventually figure things out and settle down.

But in the meantime, know that Josh McCown is still the best suited QB for Tedford's system. He has an arm, can make plays with his legs and is mobile. Glennon is none of that. McCown isn't the long term answer, but neither is Glennon. And even less so behind a seive of an offensive line.

The only hope I can offer VJAX owners is that last year, he was a target monster in garbage time. Glennon would fire alley-oop passes in bunches. Conservative, difficult to catch and difficult to get intercepted low percentage throws. A ton of targets, but not the big payoff that usually comes with it. But I'd temper even that optimism because now he's got another big guy opposite of VJAX in Mike Evans. Glennon likes to throw tall balls to those 6'5" receivers. The target machine might be a split.

Let's see if Glennon can survive the jailbreak, and the less than mediocre play calls. Pray for garbage time VJAX owners.

I bought him for an early 2015 2nd. Jackson had a couple of drops but got a lot of red zone targets that were just out of reach (until the game winner). With Evans out with a groin injury, which might even linger after he returns, Jackson has some very nice matchups coming up. He is getting open consistently but needs Glennon to be a little more accurate and hold onto the balls that hit his hands.

Bought him today for a 2015 devy pick (one round devy draft, all eligible) that I had just gotten for Oliver. I feel pretty good about it.

I also have Evans, so whenever one is injured...$$$

V Jax has always been like a roller coaster. He is the ultimate boom or bust WR it seems like. However, I do like his value more with Glennon

Being reported by Rappaport that he's on the block, and the Bucs are fielding calls.

Big news for him if anything happens, of course, but big news for Evans as well.

Not sure they said he's "on the block". I just think they're getting calls. Big difference.

Rappaport said they're "willing to move him", that sounds like on the block to me. Probably won't matter, these things rarely happen.

VJax has a reasonable contract the next two years ($9.8M) so he should be worth a 3rd round pick to a contender. The Pats have the money and could definitely use him.

Seems like the Pats have been keeping cap room set aside for Revis. Would love to see VJ there though.
