great info here guys, keep the news coming. With the extreme amount of bad blood generated, isn't he going to be nothing but a bad thing for the Chargers.Even if it meant a lesser pay day for me, I would exact my revenge. I would wait until the Chargers were ahead by just a little, in hopefully a meaningful game though it looks like that isn't going to happen, go deep and catch a great ball, and then hand it to the corner covering me. I would then turn and point to the owners box to make clear that AJ brought this on himself. If they were dumb enough to put me on the field again after that I would do it again.
VJAX shoulda just reported in July or taken the year off. That's a move that would cost him millions in his next contract. I don't think his future GM/Owner would look to positively on that kind of behavior. With the extreme amount of bad blood generated, isn't he going to be nothing but a bad thing for the Chargers.Even if it meant a lesser pay day for me, I would exact my revenge. I think he plays his ### off in the regular season and than develops crocodile arms in the playoffs! That would be awesome. Still, he has to maintain his professionalism in order to get paid by his new team. He needs to move on from this. Stuff like that can just eat you alive if you let it. He can get real revenge by playing for a new team and beating the Chargers. With the extreme amount of bad blood generated, isn't he going to be nothing but a bad thing for the Chargers.Even if it meant a lesser pay day for me, I would exact my revenge. What about the other players on your team? What about the fans? What about the other teams' owners that are watching? With the extreme amount of bad blood generated, isn't he going to be nothing but a bad thing for the Chargers.Even if it meant a lesser pay day for me, I would exact my revenge. yeah, I know. I would just love to see that though. Smith wielding his power like he is some kind of God who answers to no one. Everyone answers to Karma. When it was a contract dispute that was one thing, but him refusing to trade VJ to the Vikes and others when he had offers that would have been a win-win. Smith is going to get his, some way or another.I think he plays his ### off in the regular season and than develops crocodile arms in the playoffs! That would be awesome. This has been hashed, rehashed, superhashed and triplehashed.Taking the year off would have put Jackson right back in the same situation again next year... beholden to the Chargers. He's doing the bare minimum necessary to earn his free agency.VJAX shoulda just reported in July or taken the year off. Really? You would sacrifice millions of dollars to "exact your revenge?" Because of Jackson did anything as blatant as that, he would find himself unable to find any employers next year, at least not for the amount that he believes he is worth. No NFL team is going to pay a guy a huge contract when he willfully and blatantly costs his team points and/or a game.Furthermore, Jackson would have to get real comfortable driving to and from work in his pads and uniform, because he would get his butt whooped by his teammates if he dared set foot in the locker room after a move like that. With the extreme amount of bad blood generated, isn't he going to be nothing but a bad thing for the Chargers.Even if it meant a lesser pay day for me, I would exact my revenge. Correct, against the Colts in a shootout. He can't play any earlier than Nov 28th, correct?Itching to put a claim in for him.
Exactly. Everyone knew Jackson would report. He show up ready to play (doesn't matter if he does) the final 8 games then goes CYA next year! This has been hashed, rehashed, superhashed and triplehashed.Taking the year off would have put Jackson right back in the same situation again next year... beholden to the Chargers. He's doing the bare minimum necessary to earn his free agency.VJAX shoulda just reported in July or taken the year off. Unless he signs with the team that was playing the Chargers that day and worked it out beforehand. When he handed the ball to the corner, he could rip off his Chargers Jersey, revealing the other team's Jersey underneath. Then he could flex on the field and scream. Kind of like when Sean Michaels turned on Marty Jannetty and broke up The Rockers in the WWF.That's a move that would cost him millions in his next contract. Perhaps said it wrong but I meant that he will not be try very hard for any passes that don't hit him in the chest.Wut?I think he plays his ### off in the regular season and than develops crocodile arms in the playoffs! He will have 3 weeks to practice with the team before he plays. Should be ready to go. I don't see a difference between the first game of the season and his first game back. If if shows up out of shape that is a different story.Missing so much time I suspect his hamstrings have gotten tight. The first game action he sees could easily result in the type of pull one cannot see on an MRI, but which could prevent play nonetheless.

You're not even the first in this thread.I think it's in Jackson's best interests to play well and be the model of professionalism. He can screw AJ with the terms of his contract when he signs with his next team.Full disclosure: Picked him off the WW in multiple redrafts. Hoping he makes a sweet WR3 on those rostersFirst in to call Vjack pulls a hammy within two weeks of playing, and spends the rest of the season nursing it back to health to avoid further injury before he signs his BIG contact with his NEW team next year.
Why make it easier for the owners? The NFL needs to put in the 14 game rule for accrued seasons. Have the holdouts get in by the third game or lose an accrued season for their pension and free agency. This would put an end these long holdouts.

Taking the year off would have been absolutely the dumbest thing he could have done.VJAX shoulda just reported in July or taken the year off. He is the fool here.

I think he's defining a 'hold out' as a guy holding himself out while under contract, and jax wasn't signed to a contract --- he was a rfa.the team held his rights, but couldn't come to an agreement on a contract, so he wasn't playing.he just signed his tender, which is his contract to play out the year, and he only signed this for the future consideration of being a ufa.I'm not sure I follow thishe wasn't holding outHave the holdouts get in by the third game or lose an accrued season for their pension and free agency. Ah soo that's almost as much a hair splitting point as the union and the NFL sitting down to negotiate guaranteeing players that they get paid top money, only to have the player (figuratively) standing around saying "you still need my signature."I think he's defining a 'hold out' as a guy holding himself out while under contract, and jax wasn't signed to a contract --- he was a rfa.the team held his rights, but couldn't come to an agreement on a contract, so he wasn't playing.he just signed his tender, which is his contract to play out the year, and he only signed this for the future consideration of being a ufa.I'm not sure I follow thishe wasn't holding outHave the holdouts get in by the third game or lose an accrued season for their pension and free agency. In common English usage, he was holding out — just like Michael Crabtree held out last year. What else would you call it when a player keeps himself out of action in order to try to get more money?he wasn't holding outHave the holdouts get in by the third game or lose an accrued season for their pension and free agency. Why?The Chargers owner would be my hero if they cut him tomorrow.
Every year people talk about rookie holdouts. They're not under contract, either.I think he's defining a 'hold out' as a guy holding himself out while under contract, and jax wasn't signed to a contract --- he was a rfa.I'm not sure I follow thishe wasn't holding outHave the holdouts get in by the third game or lose an accrued season for their pension and free agency. "had enough"Soap operas should not be tolerated in football. Why?The Chargers owner would be my hero if they cut him tomorrow.
The soap opera was between VJ's agents and the Chargers' front office. The football is up to VJ and the other players and coaches. The business stuff is done for now. It's time for football."had enough"Soap operas should not be tolerated in football. Why?The Chargers owner would be my hero if they cut him tomorrow.
Surely you understand the NFL cannot just up and decide to do something such as this. The NFL needs to put in the 14 game rule for accrued seasons. Have the holdouts get in by the third game or lose an accrued season for their pension and free agency. This would put an end these long holdouts.
he was using that particular bit of sophistry to show the world he was smarter than that other guy, in true footballguys fashion.I'm not saying it worked.by the way, I used 'sophistry' in a sentence.Every year people talk about rookie holdouts. You do realize he had to show up, sign his tender and be available for 6 games to be a unrestricted free agent. He didn't have a choice if he wants to get his pay day next year.I can't believe he is risking long term injury and thus at least 10 mil by playing for 36k a game. For his sake, I hope he is smarter than that and pulls his hammy soon. The kind of pull only riding an exercise bike for the rest of the year could fix. Unfortunately, for his sake, I think he really does just want to play and he really likes his teammates so he will do his best out there.
No way to know for sure. I think at this point he was pot committed to sitting out. Let's say that he would have reverted back to being a Chargers RFA (for argument's sake. There is no way to know for sure if he would have or not.) Wouldn;t he have to be retendered at $3+mil, no roster exemption, and an offseason to work out a trade? That sounds like a better option to me than risking his career for 36k per game. That is his worst case scenario. His best would have been a chance at freedom. You do realize he had to show up, sign his tender and be available for 6 games to be a unrestricted free agent. Except that his team is 2-5 and his only healthy WRs are a bust(er) and another team's castoff that he had to trade for.But I'm sure AJ feels very satisfied that he won anyway. And AJ Smith wins another game of chicken...
If they don't make the playoffs, I'm dubious that there is any real winner here. And AJ Smith wins another game of chicken...
