Violence on the rise locally, anyone else experiencing this? (1 Viewer)

My little city averages 5 murders a year and there's been 6 in June. My theory is it's something in the current batch of meth going around.

Shootings here in the Hampton Roads area were fairly rare, one every couple of weeks or so and usually only in the bad parts of town after 1am. Now it seems they are happening everywhere, almost every day , and at any time of day.

Seems like it. Just heard about a road rage incident yesterday locally where some dude was cut off (or both parties were merging into a lane).  I guess both their cars must have hit a little bit because they both pulled over. The one dude steps out of his car with a pistol and fires a bunch of shots through the victim’s windshield. Luckily, the victim wasn’t hit but damn. People are nuts.

Not seeing a rise in violent crime here yet but I live in a very small town. Only thing I've noticed along those lines is people forgot how to drive over the last two years. It's coming though, being locked up turned a lot of areas into the Purge and I don't see it getting better any time soon.

Not violence but car thefts in the Madison, WI area have been increasing alot the last year or so.  If they do catch the thief, and it's rare, it's usually some 14-15 year old that's back on the streets and stealing more cars within 24 hours.

Yeah for the last few years now, I take care not to flip off or even stank eye people on the road. It’s not like 1995 where you may get into a fistfight or something. Guys are ready and willing to blast you for the littlest things now.

Did you see the people in NYC that stole the Rolls Royce?   Once the owner found out, he used the ole kill switch and it was abandoned in New Jersey.

Homicide is still at 0 in my house the past few years. Mopery is allegedly on the rise but I wouldn't worry too much.

We had a crazy day last week in my tiny town. Couple of guys took a couple of shots at a deputy’s car. The sheriff’s department, City police, state police, highway patrol, and fish and wild life descended on that corner or town. The shooters took off and no one knew where they went. They put a blast out telling everyone to stay inside and lock the doors. Took 4-5 hours to find all four suspects but after about an hour everyone got tired of staying indoors and went about normal business.

Actually, not prosecuting people for crime is on the rise, therefore, so is crime.

L.A. is going through this right now. This is crazy stuff. In this article, the D.A. announces that he believes that apparently -- in the article's words -- nobody convicted of even multiple sex offenses should spend more than fifteen years in jail. This is just crazy. This is why Trump and his evil brethren are winning elections. The left completely abdicates justice and the right follows suit with dictatorial inklings. This is all nuts. We should seriously consider moving abroad or North. This country's center cannot hold, apparently.

Definitely a lot less aloha in Hawaii these days. People stop you from merging, tailgate and I've even heard a horn or two in the last few years. None of that would happen a decade ago. Thankfully, guns are uncommon here, as is violent crime.

I recently had a guy prevent me from passing on an otherwise deserted multi lane road, only to slow down below the speed limit when I pulled behind him. I tired of his shenanigans and eventually passed by virtue of my car being quicker than his truck, but needed to cut back in front of him to turn left at a T intersection. He was pissed and followed me, so I stopped the car and rolled down my window. He exited his vehicle, called me a slur locals reserve for caucasians, and demanded I admit I was in the wrong. I didn't want a fight, so I admitted I shouldn't have cut him off, but clarified it had nothing to do with race. He began walking towards my car, still cursing and shouting local racist terms, so I drove off.

Looking forward to concealed carry making access to firearms easier for aggro ### holes like that.

That's why you should open carry in your car so that people don't mess with you.  #goodguyswithguns

I assume this group caught them with a fishing pole and one of those big nets?

Read a piece yesterday about thieves making off with a guys Rolls Royce but he used a remote kill switch to thwart them. Car was recovered in Newark. Nice feature, is that in any cars costing less than $282K? Car theft is up something like 116% around Staten Island.

Anyway, not a violent crime.

Up in every major category except Gun Incidents, which declined 31%.

Pretty sure every single on star has that capability.

I heard they carry so they were called in.
If they're anything like game wardens in Texas they carry a pistol and have an AR15 in their truck. It's a dangerous job policing armed hunters with the nearest backup possibly as far as hundreds of miles away.

they have their own tv show, i thought it was nuts at first but some of the culprits they face are beyond nuts. most are stupid kids, but still dangerous.

also, about this thread topic in general, sad to see it's starting to hit smaller towns now too. big cities obviously have been under siege for a couple of years already and harder felt for at least that long depending on race. i mean, we didn't have/need a politics forum for this stuff just two years ago.

The future of America looks bleak and some folks aren't taking it too well.
People say this but is it? Is it really? Head to just about any other country in the world and then come back and say that. America is changing, better or worse, it's changing but its without question the est country in the world to be lucky enough to be born in or illegally welcomed into the country.

This...I just don't get it but assuming there is an political agenda trying to be put into place, it's a means to an end I guess. That aside, I don't understand how a sworn public official is letting the things go some of these DA's are. They should be run out on a rail and it's happening but you are correct, because there is no middle, common sense anymore, the extreme right will be back in place soon enough.

Some douchenozzle, in a white Tesla, nearly killed me blowing a stop sign.  I was on foot. The reason for blowing the stop sign?  He needed to get ahead of the car next to him, slam on the brakes, jump out of his Tesla and scream at the other driver. Good times.

Given recent events today, this weekend and the coming weeks should provide an excellent backdrop for this thread to gauge the degree of decline.

If you are having trouble with our center holding, you likely won't be impressed with what you find abroad.

Yup crime is up everywhere.  However, it’s still extremely rare to be a victim of a serious crime so I’m not too worried about leaving my house.

Did he even notice you were there?  I’m guessing no.
