Virus Keeps RB LenDale White Out Of Another Practice (1 Viewer)

dirtyhalos

capital letter hater!
Tennessee RB LenDale White missed a second consecutive practice Thursday with a virus, and HC Jeff Fisher said the rookie needs to return quickly to have a chance to play this Sunday against Washington. Fisher said White did not feel well enough to practice Wednesday nor Thursday. Fisher also added that "Without practice tomorrow, it's going to be tough to have him available for the game."

For what it's worth, Henry looked faster to the hole than White last week. White needs to shed about 10 lbs. in my estimation.

Time to hijack this thread. Are the Titans shopping Henry or Brown? Chris Brown is saying he wants traded, but the last two weeks, they bench Brown and start Henry. I have read at the titansonline.com website that Fisher likes the luxury of having RB depth. At 0-5, when do they officially tank and start giving PT to the future back White? The whole titans RB saga is a mess. My guess is Henry emerges as a marginal RB getting 70% of the load, with White, if healthy, pciking up the slack. Brown is relegated to 3rd on depth chart (maybe 4th if you count Young's rushing yards). Titans play behind alot and it all becomes moot as they toss the ball more than run it.

Here's the thing about them throwing the ball more. VY cannot throw the football! I'm not trying to be funny here. VY can only make short passes semi-accurately. I got to see him in person against the Colts. I think the titans will try to bring him along slowly in the passing game, even if they are losing big.VY really does look like Uncle Rico throwing the ball. 4 of 10 passes he threw to the flat in warmups were low or uncatchable.

QB development takes priority over RB development.

Brown will be gone in the off-season and barring a relapse by Henry, he will return.

Still on the White wagon, it just may have to make a 2nd lap around the block. Can't get over anxious when dealing with rookies.

Most players would be vomiting uncontrolably if they were on that team.

I traded for White in a keeper league. Not expecting too much this season though. Maybe 2-3 starts at the end of the season.

Fisher has stated that it's a numbers game -- they want to keep 3 RBs on the roster for depth, but they don't have room to keep all 3 active every week. So, one of them them must be deactivated. The only reason White hasn't been deactivated yet is because he plays special teams.

Paying his dues, just what I want to hear.

Fisher also said running back LenDale White, who has not practiced all week because of the flu, would make the trip to Washington but that it might make more sense to start Travis Henry or Chris Brown, who have been practicing.
The bolded part is particularly interesting to me. Am I reading too much into this, or does Fisher indicate that he was considering starting LenDale?

Anything's possible but earlier in the week Fisher had said he was going to stick with the rotation that he used last week -- Henry starting and White backing him up. Given how Henry had the best rushing performance of the season by a Titan RB last week it would've been a pretty big shock to not start him this week.Eventually, though, I have to believe White gets a chance to start. The Titans should know that neither Henry nor Brown are the answer. They need to find out if White is. It only makes sense to give him the starting job, perhaps for the entire second half of the season, to find out if he's going to be the RB of the future or if they'll have to try and address that position again next year.

LOL. I hardly consider Brown, White and Henry "depth" by any reasonable standard. I can think of only a handful of teams in the entire league that have a worse running back situation.

Found this on ESPN:

News:

White missed Friday's practice because of a stomach virus, ESPN's John Clayton reports. White did not practice at all this week.

Scouts Take:

Being a first year player, White needs the practice time, during the week, to be ready to play by Sunday. Chris Brown is probably going to be the #2 RB against the Redskins

Good - if he doesn't play this week I can easily re-acquire him from the FA pool after having to drop him to pick up a third friggin QB (didn't realize Peyton and Favre shared a bye, and there was no way I was putting the #6 QB in our league (Favre) back into the WW pool for free).

Noone would trade me anything for Favre - I was willing to take any QB in exchange for him.
