Visiting Seattle (1 Viewer)

Apologies in advance for the homeless scene.
---

A little early for the summer outside concerts.
Plenty of inside concert or performance theater options.

Space Needle - reservation early - try to get sunset time so you get the daytime panorama with Mt Rainier and also the nighttime city lights.
Below it is the Museum of Pop Culture. https://www.mopop.org/

Take the Monorail for an elevated trip around the city.

To walk around and find the major sites: If you like The Amazing Race show, you can do a scavenger hunt around town - https://www.alleykatadventures.com/ to make it interesting.

Orca / Whale watching seeing is always on - they leave Seattle and go to the San Juan Islands near the Canadian border.

Snoqualmie Falls is a short 1.5ish mile round trip hike. 30min to get there.

There are helicopter tours if you got the coin - nice viewing from that perspective.

Wings Over Washington for a virtual flight. https://www.wingsoverwa.com/
Likely a package for that plus the Big Wheel plus a boat tour of the Puget Sound.

Take a day trip to Mt Rainier - Paradise side for walking / observatory type setting. For skiing you want the Sunrise side.

Woodland Park Zoo if you want some easy wildlife.

Deception Pass and Whidbey Island outing / day trip.

Day trip to Big Four Mountain and the Ice Caves. https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/big-four-ice-caves Kinda the odd timing for this one though. Likely a little too early for the ice caves to fully form. https://pixels.com/featured/ice-caves-big-four-eric-klemm.html But the roads are open - easy/mod 2.4 mile hike. A little earlier than now it was roads closed and a 10mile snowshoe trek.

Don't waste a day going to the Pacific Ocean - unless you are already going over to the Olympics for another reason like a hike. There is the Yggdrasil type Tree of Life on the Kalaloch beach near Ruby Beach (go here if you want a scenic beach). https://uprootedtraveler.com/wp-con...on-tree-of-life-olympic-national-park-7-1.jpg

----
Used to always recommend but still not back since COVID shutdown was Blake Island/Tillicum tour - half day excursion 45min on the water to/fro. Get to see an indian settlement, live performers for native dances, historical oral presentation about Chief Seattle. And the salmon buffet is chef's kiss.

And too early for the Seafair Indian Days.

Oh... and the drinking game is to take a swig for every green or blue dyed hair person you see. Drunk over/under 20 minutes.

A few things that come to mind. These are all within 20 mins of downtown and would be like half a day type things:

Get your Lime Scooter / Bike app updated. Good way to get around quick. They are everywhere. There are lots of bike lanes to ride in.

They have redone the area behind the Market. If checking out that area, make sure you check out the update. An option would then be to catch a passenger ferry over to West Seattle. Prolly a 10 minute walk from Market. Think they run every 30 mins. Great spot right there to grab lunch with views of downtown: Marination Ma Kai

Could continue along the bike path along the beach which gives 180 degree view of Seattle waterfront the whole way.

Good parks close to downtown:

Gas Works - Amazing view of city: You can scooter to here from South Lake Union all the way along Lake Union in bike paths. From Gas Works can scooter / bike easily to many great spots in Fremont (see the Troll) or continue views of city at Westward with some oysters. Great fish and chips near here Pacific Inn. Tons of spots in Fremont.

Green Lake - 3 mile loop around a nice lake. Take bike or Uber up to Phinney (my hood!) get beers and burgers at Red Mill and Ridgewood they are next door. Tons of spots on that street to get lunch, coffee, beers, etc. but this spot is a nice combo.

Beers in Ballard at one of the many breweries (I like Bale Breaker) then scooter over to Ballard Ave and walk. Ton’s of shops, record shops, bars, food, etc. Scooter / bike / walk / uber to Ballard Locks a cool thing to see. Then could continue down to Golden Gardens park if ambitious.

Kerry Park - Just for the view, is iconic. If you are in the Queen Anne area. Fun place near there to watch a game Queen Anne Beerhall.

Area I don’t spend any time but million spots to eat and drink up on Cap Hill.

Here's what I'm thinking for logistics.
Tuesday: Getting in at 1pm. Check out seattle for a bit. Get dinner. Head to the pad.
Wed-Friday: One day Rainier (trying to pick best day weather wise), one day whale watching+a little something else, one day either more seattle or day trip somewhere like Whidbey Island like GM/Riff suggested
Friday evening drive to port angeles area. Stay there for 2 nights and check out olympic on Sat. Olympic looks huge and not convenient but I feel I just need to see some of it.
Sunday drive back to seattle and hang out there for the day. Have 11:30 pm red eye back.

Might sound like a lot to other people but I love staying busy on trips and actually like driving. Thoughts?

So is all of this accessible by scooter b/c that sounds neat and super convenient? Is there more preferable place to park and just scooter from there?

So if staying downtown for instance and you wanted to do the scooter / bike to Gas Works I would uber to an area of South Lake Union (say MOHAI museum) and then open the app and there should be available scooter / bikes there. I just took a peak and there were like 20 in that area. From there is prolly a 20 minute casual ride in bike lanes to the park around the west / north side of Lake Union. You’d ride over Fremont bridge so that would be cool as well.

Green Lake / Phinney’ or Ballard would be an Uber to those areas then would find scooters to explore the neighborhoods. The Green Lake walk around the lake is very pretty and you can stop along the way for coffee in a couple spots if you like.

Ballard is a hipstery area with lots of beer and cool shops. The Ballard Locks i mentioned are a cool thing to see for a quick side trip.

If you do choose to do either of those shoot questions if you have them. There are many good options for food in all of them. I mentioned a coupe but there are a lot of options.

Most likely airbnbing south of city and will have car. Is it more convenient/affordable to just park in these areas and scooter from there instead of ubering or is parking not ideal? Did the dam at the Columbia River and agreed seeing the fish ladder was really cool. Imagine this will be similar so would be interested

Ahh gotcha. Then I would drive to these areas. Park then choose to scooter / bike if you like. Of the spots I mentioned the ride to Gas Works or putzing around Ballard would be the good scooter options and you’d get to see a lot.

Green Lake you’d park do the walk then drive up to Phinney. Could also do Ballard that afternoon.

In any case if you want any specific reccos or logistics stuff for neighborhoods just north of downtown let me know.
