It is originally a Dillon song, but he was in London and only played the verse for 30 seconds as a tribute to someone from London, not a Dillon song then I guess. Someone from the first band the sang it heard the Dillon bootleg and made the rest of the song. Or that is what I have been told.

For awhile, it seemed like every musician in town was covering it. Then Sirius Coffeehouse got ahold of it in 2009 or so, which was on constantly at the bar where I worked, and they smothered it to death. It's a good song, but it's not the kind of thing that's going to grow with repeated listens. It's all right there the first time through.

Didn't know about it coming from a kernel of Dylan's until this thread. Interesting.

How's that? Old Crow is much more twangy, but Rucker's is more "modern country." If you're a hardcore country fan from way back, I can see where you're coming from, but I haven't seen many of those around here. Darius does a good job with this song, nowhere near a "disservice".

Its a good song either way, but I like the OCMS version better. Fun and easy song to play on the guitar. Can never have enough of those. Hootie is another one of those performers that gets an unreasonable amount of hate. thanks for the post.
