Waiting on a QB (1 Viewer)

My league is a 4 pt per passing TD, so I usually wait until the later rounds. What are your thoughts this year ? If you do wait, what round and which QB are you targeting ?

Here are the QB's I am targeting. Please rank them in order:

(In no specific order)

Ryan

Kolb

Freeman

Eli

Ben

Schaub

Stafford

TIA

After getting burned by Romo when venturing out from my usual sloughing of QBs, I'm going back to my dark master.

I figure it goes something like this:

Roethlisberger

Ryan

Freeman

Schaub

E Manning

Cutler

Bradford

Kolb

Stafford

Flacco

I think you also have to consider:

Cassel,

McCoy,

Newton,

Sanchez

I am picking in the 8 spot of a PPR and 4 pts per passing TD. I will have 3 wr's and 2 rb's before I get a QB. So I think I will grab the highest rated QB in rd 6 available. It will be early rd 6, so I am assuming somebody like Ben, Ryan, Freeman or Schaub will be there.

I almsot always go with QBBC, and out of those guys Id be looking at Ryan, Schaub, Stafford, and Bradford (Pittsburgh homer leagues, ROeth will probably go early)

However, Im strongly considering going after Rivers in the late 3rd-4th if he's still there because Manning, Brady, Brees all got picked ahead of him. Like Rivers more than all of them this year.

At 4 pts per passing TD, is it worth taking somebody like Rivers in rd 3 or 4 over a Roethlisberger, Schaub or Ryan in rd 6 or 7 ?

My leagues are 4pts as well, and Im considering it. Rivers outscored Ryan and Schaub by 35+ points last year, which is only like 2pts per game, but he also didnt have VJax for 75% of the season. More than anything, Im just very high on Rivers this year as I value him just as much as anyone not named Rodgers. Also, it really depends on who else is there when I pick 3rd/4th. If a RB or WR that I really like slides, I'll certainly go that route. The consensus on the WRs generally ranked 12th-20th dont impress me vs the next dozen WRs (ie you take Colston Ill take Manningham or Boldin), and RBs arent far off in this tier, so that also makes me lean toward a stud QB. Horror memories of taking Jonathan Stewart in the 3rd last year dont make me pause taking Rivers earlier than I think Ive ever taken a QB.On the other hand, Ive been in the championship game 4 years in a row (won 3), and I drafted Warner and Schaub in their breakout years late, and Eli, and got lucky by picking up Vick last year. Without Vick (drafted Eli), I doubt I win last year though so Im coming around on getting a stud QB early. I dont see the late, Top 10 QB breakout this year by anyone besides Stafford, and his injury history scares the #### out of me.

I am in a league where passing TDs are 6 points, and I might go Rivers in the 3rd round. I have the 2nd pick, not sure if I wanna take Rivers in the 3rd or take a RB or another stud WR, and get maybe Romo/Schaub later in the 5th or so.

Roethlisberger is the best kept secret of people who choose to wait on QBs. His per-game numbers over the last 4 years are essentially identical to Philip Rivers', but his ADP price tag is 3 or 4 rounds later. Sometimes more.

Completely agree with this and the guy is built like a rock. He holds on to the ball longer than normal which means additional opportunities to get some points and those sacs don't hurt against your #'s unless you count that in your league.

Roethlisberger is most likely to slide amongst that group, Freeman and Ryan will go at least a round earlier while Schaub is a couple tiers above in ADP. I would avoid the others and think Ryan and Ben offer the most value

Am I crazy for planning to wait and take Matt Stafford as my QB1 really late? I want to pair him with another high upside pick like Sam Bradford or Josh Freeman. I figure one of those guys will end up hitting.

Damn. In my 6 point passing TD league, Rivers won't make it past pick # 15 (early 2nd round) and Romo won't last much longer than that.

Really? Interesting, how does your yardage work? Point for every 20 here. He went in the 4th last year, granted that was "last year" but hey.

Top 12 in fantasy points per game over the last 4 seasons:

23.09 - Tom Brady

22.76 - Aaron Rodgers

22.23 - Drew Brees

21.27 - Tony Romo

20.71 - Peyton Manning

19.71 - Kurt Warner

19.46 - Ben Roethlisberger

19.44 - Philip Rivers

18.82 - Matt Schaub

18.76 - Donovan McNabb

18.49 - Jay Cutler

17.95 - David Garrard

If you're looking to wait on QB, smart money is on Romo or Roeth. Garrard makes for a very, very sneaky (and unsexy) play if you want to wait forever before taking a QB... provided he can hold off Gabbart. Kyle Orton checks in at 15th (and has been trending upwards), so he's another sneaky late play, though I'd bet money on him losing his job at some point during the upcoming season.

I play in a 12 team auction league with a $300 cap and I'm hoping Romo falls into an attractive price range but in the event that he doesn't I'm ready to target guys like Roethlisberger, E. Manning & Cutler as my #1 instead.

Matt Schaub

B Roethlisberger

Matt Ryan

Matthew Stafford

Jay Cutler

Eli Manning

Josh Freeman

Kevin Kolb
