Waiver runs Friday, player plays Thursday (1 Viewer)

How does your league handle instances where your leagues waiver runs friday am but the player being claimed plays Thursday night?

Our league made adds or drops of players involved in the Thursday games off limits until the following week. We specifically voted on the issue a few years ago when the NFL Network first got involved during the final 6-8 weeks of the season.

We changed our rules to only have priority waivers on Tuesday night and Wednesday night. Then go FCFS starting Thursday morning. Works great.

Our wavers rum midnight wednesday night followed by fcfs till sunday at 1 pm BUT any player whose game has started is automatically inlelligible to be picked up till the following waiver wire ( this is a setting you can use at rtsports.....and probably other league sites as well)

ditto for my league, and on MFL.com

we run waivers prior to the Thursday night games, but what is the downside to picking a player who played on Thursday? Its not FCFS, so everyone in the league has the same opportunity to get the player(s) involved.

Its really no different than picking a player who played well the previous week, or became a starter due to injury. Obviously, you can't pick a player up on Friday and play him on Thursday. But I don't see any harm in picking the player up for your roster.

players lock until the next week's waivers once their games start. So the player would remain on waivers until waivers run the following Weds.

If I'm understanding your question right, it's more about not wanting to have the entire universe of players on "waivers" from whenever your waivers initially run, every day until the next week starts. Instead, people like those players to be Free Agents, FCFS, as they have already gone through the waiver process unclaimed. I suppose if your league allows true waiver claims on Friday for players that played Thursday, but also allows normal free agency to all those who haven't played, that would be fine. One of my leagues has an initial waiver run on Wednesday, and then again every day at 11am. I hate it...if it's Saturday morning and I want to add someone to my bench, I want to know right away if I have him.

My league just ran into a similar issue. One team owner played the St Louis D last Thursday night, then dropped them Sunday morning via waivers for a kicker that he put into the lineup right away. Clever way to maximize use of one roster spot but it nonetheless has much of the league in an uproar. We're currently voting on whether or not you should have to carry a Thursday night starter through the entire weekend but it's looking likely to be a split vote.

Absolute BS. Shouldn't even be an issue. Once a player has played for the week he has played and cannot be dropped until the next week. Dude should have to drop to drop someone else.

Yahoo's new Game-time waivers in Fantasy Football

How game-time waivers work:

Each free agent will be placed on waivers as soon as their game begins each week.

Waived players will become available when the claim period ends at 11:59 pm Pacific Time on Tuesday.

Players on a bye week will be placed on waivers at 5:30pm PT on Monday, which corresponds with the start time of the Monday night game.

Once their game has started, players in your starting lineup cannot be included in waiver claims until after scoring is finalized for the Fantasy week during the nightly system update following the Monday night game.

Benched players, even if their game time has begun, may be dropped for any available free agent.
