Waiver Wire Def - Week 10 (1 Viewer)

Not much out there, but I'm looking at either Tenn vs. The Bills or Oak vs. the Chiefs in a couple of absolute crapfests this weekend. I'm leaning towards the Titans for the moment. Any thoughts on these or any other potential fodder pickups?

ETA: Just saw that taking KC against the Raiders in the flipside of that game is also an option.

I like Dolphins vs. Bucs. I know the Bucs torn apart the Pack, but i like the Dolphins at home against the rookie QB.

Atlanta is who I am targeting too
I went with NYJ hosting the Jags in the Meadowlands. Gave is on their home turf and the Jags have been nothing short of horrid on the road this year.

Picked up Denver who was just chillin on the WW, had Miami, But Denever plays Washington who is afraid of scoring!

Already had Cincy, but picked up the Titans for last week @ 49ers ... worked out pretty well.

Matter of fact, if you do have the Bengals, try getting Titans now, as you can play the two as follows:

Week 10: BUFF. @ Tenn.

Week 11: Cincy @ OAK.

Week 12: CLEVE. @ Cincy

Week 13: DET. @ Cincy

Week 14: ST. LOUIS @ Tenn.

Week 15: MIAMI @ Tenn.

Week 16: KC @ Cincy

Think the Titans may still be available in most leagues, and seem to be on a definite improve. I am absolutely taking a shot with above strategy.

I like the ATL this week vs Carolina ...
As a waiver wire def, ATL is an OK move, especially in my league where OK is the best you can do off the waiver. But I wouldn't expect too much as CAR has been playing pretty well the last two weeks. CAR loves to pound the ball and ATL isn't good at stopping it. So, I see a game where CAR runs for 200+ yards mixing in some play action to Steve Smith and scores 28+ points. Williams had ball security problems last week (making it unlikely to happen again this week), and Delhomme has gone two games without an INT and has only been sacked 3 times in those 2 games. I would think turnovers and sacks are going to be at a minimum. 28 points, 300+ total yards, and minimal sacks and turnovers won't get you many points in my league.

Dropped BUF last week to pick up ATL for the Redskins game; I will likely drop ATL and pick BUF back up for the next few weeks - that defense has been an interception factory

I've been playing musical D's as well, and I'm going to roll with Tennessee based on what's available on my WW. Trent Edwards should be back this week, and from my observation, he has a propensity to be more reckless with the ball at times than Fitzpatrick. The Bills have done ok on the road this season, record wise, but yardage totals have been very low. I love my Bills, and hope I'm quite wrong, but the reality is, I bet the Bills put up a stinker this Sunday.

Mentioned in the thread so far:

Titans

Raiders

Chiefs

Dolphins

Cardinals

Falcons

Jets

Broncos

Cowboys

In my league, only the Raiders, Chiefs, and Cardinals are available. The Chargers are available, so I'm considering dropping the Packers for either the Cardinals or Chargers.

I would let the playoff schedule be the deciding factor and go with the Cardinals. Week 15 (@Det) & Week 16 (vs StL).

Stuck with either: Bucs @ Dolphins, and either Oakland or Kansas city facing off. Ooof. Bucs are the best D, but with their awful run defense @ Miami, I could easily see Miami rushing 3:1 and TBB putting up a stinker.

Leaning Oakland at this point...help me jeebus.

I have Philly but thinking about letting them go as they have some tough matchups going forward. If I can end the season as the #1 or #2 seed (#1 currently), I get a week 13 bye. I just picked up the Cowboys and thinking about pairing them with the Texans (#7 D currently):

Week 10 - Boys @ GB ??? Would you dare?

Texans BYE

Week 11 - Boys vs. Skins *** GOOD

Texans vs. Titans

Week 12 - Boys vs. Raiders *** GOOD

Texans vs. Colts

Week 13 - Boys @ Giants

Texans @ Jags

Week 14 - Boys vs. Chargers

Texans vs. Seahawks *** GOOD

Week 15 - Boys @ Saints

Texans @ Rams *** GOOD

Week 16 - Boys @ Skins *** GOOD

- Texans @ Dolphins

Love these matchups, EXCEPT MIA....I learned that the hard way last week with NE. MIA offense DOES blow, but their coaching staff is smart enough too realize that and use BS (aka wildcat, etc) to mask it. They dont turn the ball over much, they dont give up tons of sacks, IMO it is not a good matchup for a D, and not one I personally will be looking for if im lucky enough to be playing in week 15.Just my 2 cents....

Just taking a deeper dive into Tenn. My question is: other than schedule, what change(s) resulted in Tenn being a viable starting dst over the past two weeks? And are those changes enough, outside of the schedule, to make Tenn a viable start moving forward? These are my thoughts as to what has changed:VY is performing better than Collins and keeping the D off the field as compared to Collins' games.Cortland Finnegan appears to be healthy, he has had an interception in each of the last two games. Finnegan had an interception in the Pitt game and Tenn was a viable start then in week 1. And I see three sacks in the last two games. But I haven't watched the last two games so I don't know what kind of pressure is actually being applied.Other thoughts as to what has changed?

In terms of pickups for playoff run DST's:

Best I can see is a Cincy/ARI DST combo after this week.

However, no great matchups for week 14:

CIN @ MIN - Not liking the sound of that.

ARI @ SF? - Risky, likely playoff slugfest.

NE v CAR? - Maybe.

Maybe TEN v StL? >> Is TEN really changing direction? Does it matter vs StL?

Any other ideas for week 14?
