Waiver Wire Pickups (1 Viewer)

Thought it would be nice to discuss possible waiver wire players that can help some teams each week:

Hot players, prospects being called up Etc.

So Far I have

Kevin Slowey - 2 start pitcher this week VS Bal and CWS - Not bad for those in need 2% owned in ESPN

Carlos Gonzalez - Top prospect so far he's 4-10 with all 4 hits being doubles. Could be a real sleeper only 3% owned in ESPN leagues

who else?

No surprise here but if Pedro is available, maybe pick him up. He is a two-start pitching facing Barry Zero and the Giants on Tuesday. Good opportunity.

For those in need of a catcher, Rod Barajas is tearing it up as of late for Toronto. Ever since Zaun went down, Barajas has been playing every day, and is hitting for average and power. He's playing against the Yanks and Orioles this week, hence no horrible matchups.

Barajas wasn't much as a Ranger and almost fell off the face of the Earth as a Phillie. I seen him look like crap too many times while in Citizen's Bank Ballpark. I wouldn't necessarily trust him.I would take a flier on Miguel Olivo, Paul Bako before Barajas. Brandon Inge may even be able to be plugged in at catcher

I would take Olivo before Barajas as well, but i dont think hes on many wires. Hes taken in my league, and it only has 8 teams.I watch a lot of Jays games, and Barajas has been money lately. He's likely second on the team when hitting with runners in scoring position. In Barajas' first 6 games since Zaun went on the DL, he's been hitting: .318, 4 runs, 2 HR, 6 RBI.

Good info on Barajas. I just was "somewhat" excited to see a fresh face at C in Philly and he just bombed big time. He really did look pathetic. Maybe he is turning things around, which is good on him.

chad tracy should get ABs this week with cojack missing time.

he'll be a solid player to own after that too, especially for reynolds/jackson owners in daily leagues.

Anyone know if this kid is worth burning the top waiver position?

Keeper? I'd probably hold out for David Price in Sept.I'm debating using my #3 waiver on Gonzalez in a dynasty. I could use a young OF. But I'm kinda hoping he slips thru and I can snag him after he clears.

It's a keeper league, but I'm already stacked on keepers. I'm mostly looking for a guy who can contribute this season. If I pick up Gonzalez, he'd have to put up Johnny Damon numbers to get into my lineup or have immediate trade value to one of my league's cellar teams. What categories is he projected to be good for?

I need a SP pitcher to plug in for tomorrow. Points only league. IP, W, L, K, BB. Wins are 10 points, K's 3. Any suggestions?

Masterson maybe..
Gone... 4 BoSox fans in the league. LohsePennyWillisMcclungZitoDumatraitMarquisbadenhopLedezmaO.PerezEatonAre available.
I'd be thinking Penny vs Colorado or Zito vs Pedro (hoping for a bad Pedro return)...maybe Lohse @ Washington.Probably roll with Lohse  and that Reds offense.

In that group my favorites to get a win are Marquis and Lohse. Last time he faced the Nats Lohse threw a 4 hit shutout. I don't think they're measurably better now.Marquis had success when pitching at Petco last year, and his mound opponent is a LHP facing a very good lineup dominated by right handed hitters.Strikeout potential tips it in favor of Marquis.edit: accidentally called Marquis "Dempster"

Lohse doesn't play for the Reds anymore.

Good point. Make that the vaunted Cards offense.

White Sox prospect Alexei Ramirez is 2B/OF eligible and he's been hitting lately. Yahoo is speculating that he moves into the leadoff spot soon. I dropped Ankiel for him.
