Waiver Wire Process (1 Viewer)

Year 11 of very competitive league. Last few yrs we have used min/max bidding system. Not great, very time consuming. Some are all over it, others arent.

Thinking of going to a waiver system that never resets so worst team in week 1 gets 1st pick but then goes to end of line.

What would you recommend? I am commish. Time is an issue. But being fair is too. And not rewarding bad starters with a huge advantage is important.

Thanks!

I am a big fan of Blind Bid in combination with FCFS.

I've been doing the blind bidding for over 10 years now and wouldn't have it any other way. It adds tons of money to the pot and is relatively the most fair system. I've done it every other way and truly don't like them at all.

a couple years ago we changed to a non-restting WW and we pick for WW position at the draft. So you can sit on top for weeks and wait for the right player/injury but once you use your pick you go to the back of the pile and have to work your way up over the coming weeks. We also allow the trading of waiver wire picks which adds to the strategy and gamemanship. Do you grab that guy in week 3 that could be a flash in pan or will he be a stud? Do you trade the pick or let the guy pass?

We've tried multiple things over the years and this has worked out great and involves a lot of strategy and spurs a lot of trading (draft picks and players).

Does MFL support this?

not sure, never used that site, we use CBS.

I swear by blind bidding paired with first come, first served. Won't even play in a money league that does waivers.

We actually use a real money 100 dollar faab/fcfs budget, which makes things very interesting. People seem to behave slightly differently when using a real cash balance that they could get a refund on at the end of the year v a "fake" budget.

Ours is a slight twist. It's blind bidding with real money with NO cap. And again, all the proceeds go to the champion. The winner usually takes home around $1K.

FAAB is the fairest way to go and no time involved as most sites have this automated now

Waivers using $100 blind bidding Sun to Tues and Thurs to Fri (during Thurs night games). The rest of the week is open free agency. Most fair imo, gives those who were busy during game days a chance to claim an injury, but also gives the waiver sharks free reign on non-game days
