Waiver wire RBs down the stretch (1 Viewer)

I am beginning to scour the waiver wire and looking to hoard some backup RBs for the stretch run.

Bad weather winter climates usually present more run opportunities:

Fred Jackson

Brandon Jackson

Very intrigued by these guys because both have rookies playing in front of them that will eventually hit a wall:

Kevin Jones

Ahman Green

Any thoughts?

My thought is that it's a guess who will get injured, but if given the opportunity I'd take Fred Jackson of the 4 listed. He gets some 3rd down love the way it is, and I think he could be very good if he took over the #1 role.

I keep hearing about this proverbial rookie wall and it never ceases to amuse me.Definitely hold on to Ahman Green and Kevin Jones for the stretch run ;)

He did quite well last year when Lynch went down with his sprained ankle.

Well if you seeking a RB so is Denver..they have a full back but no tail back yet..I say Pope on Denver is a long shot but YA NEVER KNOW WITH SHANNY!

Hillis for Denver is the one to get for now. He get first shot at the starting job, and if he runs hard like he did on 4th down play, which bascially won the game for Denver, he keep the job.

man, 3 Denver RBs on IR, another one dinged, and yet there are still 3 other RBs to guess at in Pope, Boyd and Hillis. That is kind of insane.

Just asking I didn't watch the game but why did a full back at 250lbs catch the ball for a kickoff return? Was it shorts kicks and he happen to be there twice?

Yes there were some short kickoffs. I'm not sure if they were trying to keep the ball away from Royal after the 93 yard TD or what.

If your in a 12 team or above league with deep rosters a long shot is Ryan Moats. He seems to be a great fit for the Texan zone blocking running system. Although Slaton is hot right now he is not really an every down work horse back and he has the worry of hitting the rookie wall. The backup is A. Green who seems to rarely suit up.

The Texans only face one team ranked less than 20 vs the run from week 11-16.

I'm assuming with his reduced role as of late that Ricky Williams is on some waiver wires. If you have the bench space I think he is worth a pickup. An injury to Brown would give Ricky a chance to produce. The Dolphins have one of the easiest remaining schedules for RB's.

Someone may have dropped Pittman with his injury (behind SJax), Darby might be a good insurance play the next two weeks.

But, I agree with Hillis - I think he'll surprise. Of course keep an ear out for Cecil's mid-week report next week about who's running with the first team. And Shannie has 10 days to come up with his starter, so that's plenty of tie for him to figure out how to screw whichever back you go with.

Most who have Brown already have Williams I do in three of my five leagues..and its rare if Williams is on a WW..(not counting Yahoo FF players of course).
