Is it OK to Bring a Loaded Rifle into an Airport? This Guy Did It

The story of a man who walked into Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Friday carrying a loaded AR-15 semiautomatic rifle has gone viral. And here’s the most amazing part of it: his actions were completely legal, thanks to Georgia’s gun laws.
“People’s fears are not my responsibility,” Cooley responds, then goes on to explain his rights. “If you’re detaining me, then I’m going to have to file a lawsuit against the airport,“ he says.

Congrats! Now the law you love so much are going to be changed because you're a ####### moron.
Agree, and he thinks just the opposite

According to Cooley, he was exercising his rights: “If you don’t exercise your rights, the government doesn’t have any hesitation taking them away,” Cooley told WBS-TV Channel

At first I thought this was a political statement intended for exactly this response.

But perhaps that's giving him way too much credit.

But seriously....how is this legal? Did not we not already have a nut case shoot people up at LAX and make it into the terminal? Don't most states that are very pro-gun still have rules about carrying them into certain places?????

I guess airports are city property but you would think the federal laws the TSA is enforcing would extend at least to the entrances.

Don`t hate the player..hate the game.

Loaded?

Meaning: one in the chamber? Or just a magazine inserted? Big difference, actually.
Not really.
Yeah, it is
Not in this discussion/situation. The possibility of alarming people and the risk of causing a panic isn't really impacted by whether or not a round is in the chamber. There's also a difference between the safety being on or off - but not a "big difference".
I'm parsing, but there's a legal difference between chambered and not. This is the reason why law enforcement doesn't carry chambered weapons.

But I agree with your point. I was more wondering if the press reported it accurately. Generally they have no clue. I'd be surprised if this dbag had chambered round

Saw this yesterday on the 11alive website. Top comment, I feel certain it's true:

Wesley Nichols

I know this dude personally, and in all honesty, he will go out of his way to stir things up with police. He is quite the dick nozzle.

I know I'm gonna get #### for this but- if the dude had been black, it's very likely he'd be dead right now, shot by security police.

WTF are you talking about? Cops carry chambered. Everyone does, down to your every day cc permit holder.
