Ward and Benson (1 Viewer)

These two may have both overestimated their value. In an extremely thin RB FA market I haven't heard anyone mention Benson's name, and the only one interested in Ward seems to be Cincy, because they haven't signed Benson yet.

I'll assume one of these two will be the starter in Cincy next year...Where will the other end up?

Is there any word?

Benson looked better last year. Someone will sign them after the first wave of free agency.

Cedric Benson, 3.5 YPC in Cincy.

I'm not sure why everyone thinks this kid is good all of a sudden, he still stinks.

The thing that I find surprising is that Arizona's name hasn't surfaced in relation to any FA RB. If they don't make a move in free agency, I'd have to believe they plan to use an early pick and we may have a 1.01 fantasy rookie draft candidate.

The overall lack of interest in the RBs may seem unusual, but I think part of it is that there's no "big ticket" candidate, so the agents are waiting until the first wave get signed, then will try to see who they can get the best deal from based on cap room the teams still have available.

Ward wants big money. He may last out there. Plus it looks like you can get a potential franchise back in the 2nd round.

I'm not real shocked at this point. They know there will be RB's that can get the job done in free agency that'll come pennies on the dollar later on -- even into the summer -- to pair with Hightower. Not all worth paying Ward $3-$4 mil/year when IMO he wouldn't be decidedly better than a back that'll come for $1 million or a rookie. They've still got to deal with Warner/Dansby/A.Wilson as much higher priorities for the future.I figure they'll take a back in the first 3 rounds -- I'm hoping McCoy or Moreno, but who knows -- and sign a possible 1 year insurance guy (could be Warrick Dunn/Kevin Jones/Deuce McAllister). I think the worst move possible is to overpay for Ward.

Cincy sucked overall and Benson looked a lot better than Perry. He actually looked alright towards the end of the season and should get a chance to start somewhere at a decent price. Probably Cincy again. But I'm not surprised at all that there isn't a rush to sign him and he's probably waiting to see if someone pays more than MoMo got.

he was playing with noodle armed QB that didn't keep D's honest, an injury riddled OL, and he had to learn a new offense on the fly. I'd say he exceeded expectations. You can't judge him by looking at the ypc

Kevin Jones has been linked in rumors to the Bills and Rams (which makes no sense to me) as well as to the Bucs and Jets (where he'd be the best RB on the roster IMO).

ward's relatively old

benson got his yards (almost)without the help of an OL and wasn't a prob in Cincy. Some team will be tempted and sign him.

why would Buffalo make no sense, Lynch is likely going to be suspended and Fred Jackson is far from proven and could have contract issues. As far as I know, he hasn't signed his exclusive rights deal yetoh yeah, and ward might end up in St. Louis from what he said yesterday in an interview

I don't think Buffalo makes sense because I think Jones is a starter-quality RB in the NFL. If he has an option (which he may not - the NFL remains very superstitious where injuries are concerned), he'd be smart to go to Tampa or the Jets.

Buffalo would be the best place for him to start a few games this year. Once you said the bolded part, it's clear this conversation is going no where since I'm not sure I'm dealing with a rational person

Benson will probably wanna go to a team somewhere where he's not too close to the water or any boat marinas. Not exactly sure what team might fit that criteria but I seriously doubt he goes to any coastal teams ;)

Bensen definitely miscalculated his value. Cinci is his best bet and they seem to want him. Hes young and cheaper then ward. He never should have hit the FA market. He was crap in Chi and better in cinci, but that doesnt mean anyone will look twice at him other then cinci.

Ward has had the injury tag and is 29. He may have overvalued himself as well monetarily although you cant fault him for wanting to start after a 1000 yard season. I think he was relatively healthy too. Thought Denver might be a good place for him but with cbuck and arrington are they after another back? Could be a decent compliment to Slaton in TX. Maybe Seattle?

Schefter mentioned earlier today that Arrington hasn't officially signed, hence the Ward visit to Denver on Sunday.
