I thought I just heard on ESPN news channel that Ward is out for game 1. Did anyone else hear this?

By ARMANDO SALGUERO
The Dolphins aren't going to get off that easy Thursday night.
One day after losing quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to an emergency appendectomy, the Pittsburgh Steelers got good news in that Pro Bowl wide receiver Hines Ward, who has been treating a hamstring injury, proclaimed himself ready to play.
''You know I'm not missing this game,'' Ward said during a conference call. ``Yes, I will be playing.''
Certainly doesn't hurt.does Ward being in the Game mean good news for FWP?
Ward making progress

Hines Ward practiced for the second consecutive day with no apparent problems to his injured right hamstring that kept him out of every preseason game.
"It's still there, not all the way, but it's coming," Ward said.
"You know I'm not missing this game. Yes, I will be playing."
Said Cowher, "He's making good progress."
Not so for tight end Jerame Tuman, listed as questionable with a hamstring injury. He did not practice again.
"He's not making quite as good [prgress]," Cowher said.
Chukky Okobi (knee), the third player Cowher listed as questionable Saturday, returned to practice after missing Sunday.
Absolutely. Not only does it keep D's honest, but he's the best run-blocking WR in the league. Anytime he's on the field, it's going to help FWPs value.does Ward being in the Game mean good news for FWP?
Hi Skins: Wondering if you collected all that information manually, or if there's a good way to get it all in one chunk. Either way, nice hustle.
solid analysis here.I heard John Clayton say earlier he was doubtful Ward would play. I disagree, though.
That's good enough for me whoo hooo he's definitely starting for me nowI was listening to SIRIUS NFL radio this AM (Rebroadcast of last nights show) and they had a caller who said they saw Ward playing softball over the weekend and he saw him (Ward) stretching a ball looking as if it were just a double into a triple.Assuming this isn't disinformation, sounds like HW is a definite go.
The hammy has been OK for at least 2 weeks. The Steelers have just been extra-cautious with Ward. He is fine.I was listening to SIRIUS NFL radio this AM (Rebroadcast of last nights show) and they had a caller who said they saw Ward playing softball over the weekend and he saw him (Ward) stretching a ball looking as if it were just a double into a triple.Assuming this isn't disinformation, sounds like HW is a definite go.
Agree. One question I have tho, is given their earlier experience with Big Ben, how do you not have a cow if you know your star WR is playing softball less than a week before your opener? The hammy has been OK for at least 2 weeks. Ward has been running (but not practicing) for most of training camp. I don't see what difference it makes whether he is running on the sideline or running bases in a pickup softball game with his teammates. And not that it matters much but the softball game in question was almost 2 weeks ago.Agree.
