Cant believe you made me sit through a 10 second esurance ad for that.
Actually I didn't know there was an ad as there was not one for me. Had I known that I'd have chosen another link. Sorry I wasted 10 seconds that you could've better spent posting in "The Bachelor" or "Caitlyn Jenner" threads. Clearly you're time is quite valuable.

This song is incredible. (Originally recorded by Charlie Daniels). Best served LOUD.

You're right, it would be a perfect song for for a montage about motorcycles, whiskey, women, and the wild, reckless side most men have. One of the reasons it's such a great song. Sucks for you that you can't relate.

Fool me once, shame on you.....
Yep, that was me. But this song is so good even a non-country music fan should be able to appreciate it. Go on, give it a listen....
Gave it a listenIt still sucked
In other words, you thought it sucked even before you gave it a listen? Thanks for letting us know that your opinion on music is predetermined, and therefore skewed, worthless and of no value whatsoever.

It's a great tune no matter who sings it but I definitely prefer this version.

Living hard was easy when I was young and bullet proof
Had no chains to bind me just a guitar and a roof
I emptied every bottle when I poured I never missed
Had bloodshot eyes at twenty five or was it twenty six

Didn't seem to matter what price I had to pay
Cause anything worth havin' I'd just lose anyway
Friends worried about me and they asked if I was sick
Thought I would die at twenty five or was it twenty six

Those two years run together like whiskey over ice
Melting into mem'ries like somebody else's life
I'm glad to say I've come around but if I could have one wish
I'd like another try at twenty five or was it twenty six

I met a girl from Georgia smart and pretty college grad
Thought my luck was changin' up to then it'd all been bad
I guess I fell in love with her all it took was just one kiss
But then she said goodbye at twenty five or was it twenty six

Those two years run together like whiskey over ice
Melting into mem'ries like somebody else's life
I'm glad to say I've come around but if I could have one wish
I'd like another try at twenty five or was it twenty six

Yeah I've been down that road before almost as far as hell
Deception or redemption I guess only time will tell
I have faith in the knowledge that God gave us a gift
I couldn't hide at twenty five or was it twenty six

Those two years run together like whiskey over ice
Melting into mem'ries like somebody else's life
I'm glad to say I've come around but if I could have one wish
I'd like another try at twenty five or was it twenty six

The original is great, no doubt. I just love Stapleton's voice, and I think he nailed the vibe of the song perfectly with his style and production. I'm sure (I hope) it won't be the last Charlie Daniels song he covers.

Apology accepted.

Been a fan of Chris since his days with The Steeldrivers, one of the best voices in the business. His live acoustic stuff is usually better than his studio stuff IMO

Hoping to catch him live very soon. Might even travel down south to do so. Traveller is an outstanding album start to finish. Produced very well, but not over-produced. Flows nicely. His voice takes center stage throughout and the supporting instrumentation is perfect, with his wife Morgane singing harmonies. His solo acoustic version of Whiskey and You appears on the album which is awesome. Been listening to it nonstop, already looking forward to the next one. A live album would be fantastic. Traveller-

He released the single What are You Listening To recently, which does not appear on the album. It's a soft country rock/pop ballad, excellent as usual. Could definitely be a radio hit. (Might already be, I don't listen to the radio much).

No, I thought we should give you a second chance after you told everyone who had a son should listen to that abortion of a song called "The Dollar" and it helped you be a better parent.

You said that you listen to it with the other ladies when you work out at Curves. Christ, now Fruity Pebbles (our FBG member and not the cereal) doesn't even want to have kids

Now you bring us this song that YOU called incredible and YOU also said it is so good that non-country fans should appreciate it.

From here on out, whenever you post, I'm going to think of you and the other overweight women clad in Spandex, all of you sweating profusely, trying to shed those excess pounds by pumping away to some wretched work out tape filled with your "incredible" music

Yes

Based on the responses itt, I'm really torn on whether or not to listen.

Either I'll be missing a masterpiece or avoiding another tired country song about god, country, trucks, girls, and booze.

Decisions decisions...

Are you hungry? You could probably use a Snickers.

Yesterday I mentioned in this thread how I'd love to see Chris Stapleton live. Today my wife told me she's buying tickets for us to see him somewhere down south as a Father's Day gift! Pretty psyched.

I thought the song was OK. It's better than the country swill being put out by Kenny Chesney, Florida-Georgia Line, et al.

Glad you didn't hate it! I do think it's a fantastic version if a great song, but I may have over-sold it as "incredible" for exactly the reason you stated. It's light years better than what's passing for country music these days. Most of which I dislike very much. I don't know how much you know about Chris Stapleton, but he's as authentic as it gets, and exactly what country music needs. When I called the song incredible, it may have been my enthusiasm for Stapleton's throwback style/attitude, and the incredible album as a whole (Traveller). This particular cover being a reminder of the great country music of the past and evidence that excellent country music can still be found today beneath all the junk.

This, is in my opinion, the best version of What Are You Listening To https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhnMSVb0oYA

Not only does the guy have the best voice in the industry but his songwriting credits are phenomenal. You may want to check his work with The Jompson Brothers too if you already haven't, little heavier than the country stuff. Here's a couple of my favorites

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18AhUXAILWE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq3Av1IA8rc really shows his range on this one

That version of WAYLT is phenomenal. The other two songs you linked (Fire Away and Sometimes I Cry) both appear on Traveller. I have the Jompson Bothers album which is quite a departure from The Steeldrivers to say the least.

You might want to check out Brett Detar; he's got two albums out that are free downloads. I listen to him just as much as Cash, Jones, Fender, and Twitty.
