Was Merril Hodge always right about Vince Young? (1 Viewer)

No. Hoge is cherry picking fresh evidence and trying to make it fit his old opinion. He never argued that Vince had psychological issues before that draft. It was all about mechanics and skills then. Now he's just piling on with a bogus I told you so. Young had the look of a great leader at Texas. Even Hoge gave him credit for that. His lack of maturity and leadership ability has been one of his greatest weaknesses as a pro.

As a Texans fan subjected to endless "VY is Black Jesus" talk from UT homers who couldn't get over the Mario Williams pick, I'll admit to wallowing in the schadenfreude of VY's struggles, but even a VY critic like me thinks Hoge has gone way too far. This guy is a complete #######. It's become personal for him and he's used every opportunity to bash the guy and remind everyone what he said about him before the 2006 draft. You can hear the hate in his voice in that radio interview. Why would he hate him so much? Did Vince screw his ex?

Not this again....seriously. The guy is a terrible pro. Black Jesus in Austin - terrible pro. I don't understand where all the apologists get this crap from. I mean if you feel sorry for him because Hodge is trying his *** off to trash him that's one thing. Hodge might be embellishing in his story and he may have some sort of vendetta. I don't agree with the way he's going about it, but I do agree with the message. VY is terrible and the support group while understandable is still pathetic. Win or go home.

I could care less about the "baby" comments. The bottom line is that Young is not a very good NFL QB.

To be a good NFL QB you need precision, timing and be able to read a defense, Young does not possess any of those skills. VY was a great running college QB.

From the words of Terrell Owens, "Like my boy tells me: 'If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat, by golly, it is a rat.". In other words, if VY sucks and is soft, then it is what it is.

:goodposting:And if Young suddenly turns things around next year, Hoge will back off his claims. Then when Young falls again Hoge will open his mouth again, etc.

actually, his lack of ability especially when it comes to completing passes to guys wearing the same colored jerseys, and his inability to win games were some his greatest weakness at the pro level.. :bye: Vince Young failed because he flat out sucks..his lifetime comp percentage is just 57%. he's thrown 22 tds to 32 ints.

he avg'd 6.4 yards/attempt, and his rating is one of, if not THE lowest among active NFL QB's, 68.3..

can we stop making excuses for the guy? I understand his psych problems are serious, but, the guy sucked for YEARS before anyone ever heard a peep about his mental woes..the whole situation reeks of PR damage control if you ask me..

make the person look 'human', give them some ailment/condition/abuse story that requires treatment..

Vince Young isn't depressed as much as he is an immature child who can't handle defeat and has been coddled his whole life and doesn't know how to deal with life when things don't go his way..

if this was a 15 year old kid we'd be calling him a baby, telling him to grow up and act mature, act his age..you'd probably slap him upside the head and tell him to cop-on to himself..

but when its a 20-something rich-beyond-belief jock who's acting this way, oh ,well, wow there must be some sort of problem with the guy... :lmao:

I remember during a Dan Patrick Radio Show Interview... that had someone on that Said they wouldn't Take VY or Lienart in the 1st 2 Rounds of the Draft. Infact, he said that he wouldn't take Lienart in Day 1 at all and he would consider Young as a Day 1 Pick base on is running ability.

Ofcourse Dan Laughed, and probably everyone that ever heard this laughed and said to themselves "yeah, right."

But whoever that was right on the ball... I've tried finding the interview, but couldn't.

I've been saying VY was the suck since he was in college...nice guy, but never had the head/instincts for the NFL game.
