Was the Star Wars Clone Wars series canon (1 Viewer)

I've been binge watching this on Netflix. I am in season 3 and they just gave an alternative meaning to Anakin being the chosen one and what that would have meant his destiny was. So I was wondering if pre-Disney these were canon.

 
Yes, both the clone wars and the new Disney cartoon are listed as canon now. I think I know the episodes you are talking about and honestly, I had no idea what they really meant as far as the bigger story goes.

 
I thought that clone wars cartoon was pretty cool. Felt more star warsy than the actual prequels did.

 
I started binging these on Netflix with low expectations and was blown away how much I've enjoyed them. I'm on season 4 and each episode feels like I'm watching a new Star Wars movie.

Well it seemed like the real meaning of the chosen one prophecy was lost to the Jedi at a minimum.

Yeah I have really come to like them. I like that stories span several episodes makes it much deeper.

 
Yes and yes the writing is much higher quality than what we got for the prequels but still the target audience was for teens. So they don't get too deep.

We cut the cord in the middle of the show's run (season 5, I think) and I haven't gone back to finish it, even though they're on Netflix... but I will someday. They were good.

 
I watched the Clone Wars season 1 when it was brand new but couldn't get committed to it even though it was very good. Recently I had a 4 month leave of absence from work and watched all 6 seasons. It's now become the pinnacle of Star Wars for me. The stories and characters are so much more fleshed out than any of the movies. But that's pretty common for anything fantasy/sci fi/superhero related....live action can rarely compete with cartoons in those genres.

Anakin is such a petulant child in the movies. But in the Clone Wars he is a complex and conflicted character. You can actually root for him as a Jedi and enjoy the bond that he and Obi Wan develop.

And speaking of Obi Wan....the wise yet boring grey hair from the originals or the smug punk from the prequels turns into a complete badass and the greatest Jedi to have ever existed.

Too many quips, everything said with a wink and a sarcastic voice - Obi Wan was the worst part of the show.

 
We have been tearing through these the last month also. On season 4. My favs so far were the clone training episodes with 99 and anything with R2. What an excellent series.

 
i think my kids had a book about chewbaccaberries back in the day is that one cannon or what brohans take that to the bank
