Wash Those Jeans (1 Viewer)

Simple question - how often/when do you wash your jeans?

Ive just noticed Im pretty obssessive about washing all my clothes after 1 use. Pants/shorts usually after 2 wears or they get stained

But jeans..... oh, jeans... I think Ive gone a month easy not washing them w pretty frequent use.

Is it a case of the length of time it takes to "break them in" post wash? Or that they never look or smell dirty? A great mystery

At least a year when Im breaking in a new pair. If they start to smell just throw them in the freezer.

freezer????

tell me more...

eta: the ceo of levi's is my kinda man... but what about when you drop mustard off your dog onto them?

turmeric is a sob

After about 5 times of wearing them. Depends on what I spill on them or my sweat level. Not washing them is disgusting. Just buy a new pair if they wear out from washing.

I try not to wash jeans because they shrink a little after each wash. By about the 3rd time wearing them, they usually fit the best. If they are washed, they shrink and you have to start all over.

i've found they only shrink from drying in the dryer. i only hang dry jeans.

I wash about 1x per month...i have roughly 4-5 pairs that are rotated so maybe 2-4 wears between washing. I try to wash them together and try to let them air dry rather than dryer.

If they aren't raw denim, I can't imagine doing it any other way. Freezing? Lol

I hate feeling like Ive gained 20 pounds after drying jeans.

And I hate the way jeans feel when they're air dried... like Im wearing fruit leather.

I may never wash mine again

I wash jeans once. Then occasionally spot wash and throw them in the dryer on high heat for a few minutes with a dryer sheet to freshen it up as needed.

Washing jeans ruins the color and fit over time. So unless these are truly work jeans, there's no reason to wash them every time you wear.

I send mine to the dry cleaners. I'd do them myself but it's too much work to get them starched and creased like I like em.

After every wear.

Yes, I know Im doing it wrong. Call me old fashioned, but I like my clothes to be clean when I put them on.

Yes, freezer for 24 hours. Don't wash. Freezing kills the bacteria.
Sure about that?
No, but its what I've heard. I've never done it....

(CNN) -- Levi Strauss CEO Chip Bergh has some unusual style advice for 501 fans: Step away from the washing machine.

The denim honcho shared the words of wisdom this week atFortune's Brainstorm Green conference in Laguna Niguel, California.

Jeans keep legs 'moisturized'"These jeans are maybe a year old and these have yet to see a washing machine," he said of the pair he wore during a chat onstage. "I know that sounds totally disgusting."

It's not new advice. Designer Tommy Hilfiger has made similar comments. And CNN's Anderson Cooper told style expert Stacy London two years ago that he washes his jeans very rarely.

Jeans aficionados may be accustomed to hearing some unusual tips on keeping their denim products fresh. Advice ranges from spot cleaning jeans and never washing them to freezing them to kill any germs.

So no bacteria survives a freezing winter?

Smell the ### portion of your jeans. Unless you never fart, they need cleaning. If you want to avoid the dryer, do so, but you need to get rid of the ### smell.

Pigs.

 I wash my jeans. But I've heard about freezing vs. washing.
