Week 01 2023 who should I start thread **OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL** (1 Viewer)

Just in case I need to scramble in the event Kittle is out, who is the better one week play?

Kmet vs Packers
Everett vs Dolphins
J.Johnson vs Titans

Just hoping for a 4/50 type of statline from someone, standard scoring. Thanks

12 Team PPR. Need Two:

* D. Pierce (@BALT): Lousy matchup. BALT could get up big. Threat of split touches with Singletary.

* R. Mostert (vs LAC): Good matchup. Not much competition for touches. If LAC get up he may lose touches.

* V. Jefferson (@SEA): Somebody has to catch the ball with Kupp out.

* R. Doubs (@CHI): Questionable but should play. Could be #1 WR with C. Watson out.

Which 2?

THanks

Bit of a dart throw and a guess but I think I would go

Mostert - it's true LAC could get up but that opens up the potential for short passes to matriculate down the field
Doubs - Likely WR1 on Pack this week for what that might be worth and Bears could be up for much of the game

n one of the leagues where I picked up Reed, Jaylen Warren got dropped. Waivers run Sunday morning, though because I picked 2nd in the draft, I'm 13th in priority. But let's assume for the moment that I could get him. Should I drop Reed for him? Only other person I'd even consider is Achane. Actually, in some ways that could make more sense, since it's a 2RB/3WR/no flex league, so it doesn't really make sense to hold too many RBs (I already have Chubb/Akers/Brian Robinson) and my WRs, as we've seen in my earlier posts, are pretty weak.

So the options are:
  1. Drop Reed for Warren
  2. Drop Achane for Warren
  3. Stand pat

2
The more I thought about it, the more I came around to this view. Achane probably has an easier path to being the starter, since the guys in front of him on the depth chart are all made of papier mache, but Warren is far more talented and a more proven commodity. He may have some standalone value, but if Najee gets hurt he could really beast

Is Doubs completely healthy?

Also curious what CHI secondary is like this year. Think they were horrid against the run last year but the secondary was decent.

Hard to bench Pierce. Feels like getting cute. But all odds seem to point towards a poor performance here. Could have a decent floor. Don't see much ceiling.

No idea on Doubs, one to monitor. As far as Pierce goes, I hear what you're saying and he was pretty good last year. Week one is tough, you kind of want to see how things play out.

How do we know what the split in Houston between Pierce and Singletary is? We don't, and maybe there won't be much of a one and Pierce will get 70% of the touches. I guess week 1 will tell us a lot, until then we're all guessing to some degree.

Given your choices I think Pierce & Mostert are pretty clear options.

I get why you consider the others but it feels like overthinking. Win or lose you go with the volume.

Pierce>Mostert>>Doubs>Jefferson

Need to pick 2 in PPR league
Hall vs Bills
Cook vs Jets
J Williams vs Titans

Thanks!
I bench Hall. I wouldn't want to stack Jets RBs in week one. Later on maybe but not week one.

Cook is healthy.

Cool>Jamaal>Hall
Wouldn't be stacking Jets RB. It is James Cook, not Dalvin
You're welcome

Yes, I guess I could make an argument for Hall over Jamaal but the underlying issue for Hall remains.

Jamaal is boring, New Orleans isn't Detroit but he's in line for the lion's of RB touches and l, maybe has a chance to punch one in. I don't see Hall getting goal line opportunities this week.

I stand by my recommendation.

1/2 point PPR. Christian Kirk, Johan Dotson, Mostert. Need 2 for WR/flex
I bench Kirk and don't regret it no matter how it plays out.

But, I'm not a huge Kirk guy in general. But I think choosing which Jax WR is going to have a solid game opposite Ridley is going to be a season long game of whack-a-mole.

Juwan or Likely?

WHIR
Yes.

Sorry I don't do TEs but on the surface Trequan something or other is out for New Orleans, so maybe that leads to an additional opportunity or two for Juwan.

OBJ, Andrews, Flowers & Bateman are all set to play in a game the Ravens should control.

Juwan>Likely

ETA: just saw Andrews was downgraded. Likely is clearly a better option now, but now we need to consider his upside relative to Andrews. I have no idea. I also have more concern for his role in this new offense, which I didn't have for Andrews.

Yeah, it's closer now. I honestly have no idea but I guess Tennessee should be more vulnerable to the pass than the run so...

Juwan>Likely

PPR w/ tiered TD scoring (longer reception yards = larger TD score), looking for WR3 spot:

D Johnson (Pitt)
B Cooks (Dallas)
I'll take Diontae because I think he's the #1 target in his offense, I don't know where Cooks will land.

Diontae>Cooks

QB: 6/TD, 1pt/20 pass yds, 1pt/10 rush yds

Hurts (@NE)
-or-
Lawrence (@IND)

I get the conventional wisdom is to go with the "no-brainer" guy who set the football world on fire last year with Hurts, but a NE defense always makes me think twice.

Indy looks like a soft defense, and indoors.

Full PPR, pick 1 for flex:

Pierce @ Bal
Cook @ NYJ
J Williams vs Tenn

D Johnson vs SF
McLaurin vs Arizona
M Brown @ Wash

Between tough matchups and coming off injuries, I've been going in circles on this.

Don't care. There's a reason one was in the conversation for #1QB drafted and the other wasn't.

Lawrence may outperform Hurts but, IMO, the right call is

Hurts>Lawrence

You're going to get it wrong, almost certainly so accept that.

Between your options I'm not starting any Cardinals until further notice.

Can't start McLaurin either IMO coming off the toe (they also called Crowder up from the PS and I don't think he plays special teams.

Beyond matchup the Buffalo running game has been an unfulfilled promise for a couple years. I like Cook but, on the road, tough matchup and uncertain volume.

Jamaal is okay. That's it. Tennessee had a top run defense last year too and the core of that is back (iirc).

To me it comes down to Diontae v Pierce.

Diontae is the better talent IMO and Pittsburgh sure looked ready to play in the preseason. If that offense is going to move I think Diontae is going to be a big driver. The matchup sucks though and I worry about a defensive struggle.

Baltimore is not a prohibitive defense. Good but several steps below elite. They may crush but, does Pierce come off the field in passing, goal line, 2 or 4 minute situations? For who? Singletary? Boone? I personally don't think so.

Pierce>Diontae>Cook>Jamaal>>>>

Last minute opinion please:

FPC scoring:

If Mark Andrews is inactive who would you start:

N.Collins @ Balt
C.Samuel ve AZ
I.Likely vs Hou

Everett, I’m almost starting him over Waller (Probably won’t)
Non-PPR league
need 1:
Pierce vs Balt
Connor vs Wash
Robinson vs Ariz
Mostert vs LAC?
Pierce, with some confidence.
ppr flex:

M Brown (ARI)
M Sanders (CAR)
Sanders if you value the higher floor.
Gibson or Brian Robinson for Washington today vs the Cardinals? PPR scoring
I’d go Gibson until Robinson shows otherwise.

With Kupp out  PPR, D Johnson vs SF or Mike Evans at Minnesota?

Leaning Evans but really not confident.

Final flex spot in a deep league where we’re looking even in estimates:

TE Premium (2x PPR), Full PPR for non-TE

Michael Mayer (LV TE) @ DEN
Jaylen Warren (PIT RB) vs SF
Kyren Williams (LAR RB) @ SEA
Evan Hull (IND RB) vs JAX

I like Warren out of that bunch. I think this is a split backfield

Non-PPR league
need 1:
Pierce vs Balt
Connor vs Wash
Robinson vs Ariz
Mostert vs LAC?
I think Conner for me. Texans fan and I’d otherwise say Pierce but fear Baltimore just stacks the box today and dares Stroud and lackluster WRs to beat them. I know Arizona largely only has Conner too, but feel like he’ll get more opportunities.

If they Texans fall behind fast, it starts becoming the Schultz and Dell show.

ppr, flex spot:

Aiyuk vs Steelers
Deon Jackson vs Jaguars
Perine vs Raiders

Aiyuk was the original pick but with JT and Moss out, and Jeudy out and Javonte basically out, Jackson and Perine should have more opportunities.
Moss & JT were never expected to be playing this week. And I haven't heard any report on Javonte being highly limited.

If you liked Aiyuk before I would stick with him.

If Mark Andrews is inactive who would you start:

N.Collins @ Balt
C.Samuel ve AZ
I.Likely vs Hou
I like Collins as the #1 in Houston but his efficiency was pretty awful last year.

I don't know where Samuel falls in the new Washington offense. McLaurin is still uncertain but they called Crowder up from the PS. At best Samuel is the #2 IMO, and that is without considering the RBs. I have been high on the Commanders this week but I don't have much opinion on Samuel.

Likely should be pretty okay today with Andrews likely missing the game. But Bateman, OBJ & Flowers are all ready to go and this is a new offense.

It's really a coin toss but with it being FPC scoring

Likely>Collins>Samuel

Non-PPR league
need 1:
Pierce vs Balt
Connor vs Wash
Robinson vs Ariz
Mostert vs LAC?
Non PPR I like Robinson's chances to score a TD more than the others.

Note that I have been historically, and often incorrectly down on Conner and that has not changed.

But all these guys should have a large role and there probably isn't a wrong answer.

The choice is really about you planting a flag.

Robinson>Pierce>Mostert>Conner

Gibson or Brian Robinson for Washington today vs the Cardinals? PPR scoring
Flip a coin.

I think Robinson is the starter and most likely to score a short TD but Gibson is a better receiver by a good margin. In this new offense we have no idea. But I think both will see plenty of action.

Robinson>Gibson

Non-PPR league

Totally get all that, I’m just expecting Stroud to use Pierce in the short passing game along with Schultz to keep from getting crushed in his first game.

Javonte Williams vs Elijah Moore in .5 PPR
No real idea. Is DeShaun back (I think so) or still hot garbage (still possible)? Do we really know where Moore falls with Amari, Njoku & Chubb?

How much will Javonte play?

Total guess but
Javonte>Moore

Michael Mayer (LV TE) @ DEN
Jaylen Warren (PIT RB) vs SF
Kyren Williams (LAR RB) @ SEA
Evan Hull (IND RB) vs JAX
LOL seriously?

No earthly idea. Like...none.

I guess Warren because he looked very good in all phases last year and I think he has the most defined role plus upside is Najee is completely stifled.

Warren>blind dart throw
