***Week 1 Game Thread - Wash at NYG*** (1 Viewer)

I watched the game, and as we heard all the preseason hype, my thoughts are this:

Washington is in trouble, at least for awhile. They have some talent but they're not connecting yet, they showed that they have some major flaws in the running game.

The passing game isn't very good, but you can get some garbage yardage to the QB's favorite target, which seems to be the two starting WR's.

The Super Bowl Champs were impressive. I thought they started off with the run, pounded them and mixed it up nicely with the pass. Plaxico Buress when healthy plays at a level only about 3 to 5 receivers can play at when healthy. The Giants pass rush isn't that bad without the guys we know are missing.

Eli Manning can be great and he can still be goofy. Still, with what he proved last year, he can be great under the most extreme of circumstances, so now after seeing some poor decisions tonight, he can be trusted at anytime.
I agree with everything you wrote except the bolded part. The running game is fine, and produced as much as it could with the passing game being so out of sync. It should improve as the passing game improves.

Great game! I think the Redskins will look like a much different team when they meet again, but I'll take an "ugly" win any day of the week.

Jacobs looked great was was one step from breaking a few long ones on 3 plays. Eli was in snych in the first half, but looked lost in the 2nd. Plax is awesome and should put up very good #'s to go along with his new contract.

The Giants did not blitz very much tonight. Maybe to hide things for later in the year?

According to the post game report with Howard Cross, Kiwi was fine and walking around without a limp. He should be good for next week.
We must not have been watching the same gameAbout the only play I don't recall seeing a blitz was on the Santana Moss TD

(FFChamps) The New York Daily News reports that Giants defensive end Mathias Kiawunka, who was injured on the last play last night, is fine and X-Rays were negative on his lower left leg.

Analysis: It was a bit of a scare for the Giants and owners, but Kiwanuka should be good to go for Week 2.

I was just going to ask about this, so thanks for the update. This is good news. I was really concerned since it didn't look good at the time. Losing him, on top of losing Osi and Strahan, would have been really tough to overcome this season.

I was there, so didn't get to watch it as closely as i might on Tv, but a few comments and observations I walked away with. 1) The Giants were flying around at the beginning of the game. They completely dominated the game, and it really looked like they ratcheted down the intensity. The score may have been close, but it didn't feel like it there.

2) Portis was making the most out of nothing. The giants d-line dominated the skins oline, and there were a few times where it sure looked like Portis made something out of nothing. On a related note, I don't recall Betts even getting a carry.

3) Eli still flashed a few signs of the Eli of old. He should have had at least 3 INTs that were dropped and could have easily had 4, maybe 5 INTs... He definitely looked at Plax too much and into double and triple coverage.

I don't have an exact breakdown, but I too remember plenty of plays in which they only rushed four. It only seemed at times like it was more. And yeah, Plax was the passing game last night. If he keeps this up he's suddenly a PPR machine.
