The most important part of fantasy football is figuring out what's a fluke, and when it's the beginning of the end. I'd like to get a thread started where people focus on games they saw in there entirety with limited pissing matches.
I watched the Saints/Lions game closely, but the involvement of the Lions makes it tough to judge. Bell ran very hard, and the O-Line did a great job run-blocking(but against the Lions). However, his lack of elusiveness was a bit of a concern. Personally, I think PT is the better back and when you throw in his usefullness in the passing game, I think he'll be the #1 back. Bush looked terrible. I think his time as a RB could be over, but we'll need another week or two to be sure. Rust could have been a factor. Obviously Brees looked awesome. Sure it was against the Lions, but I'm sure most start him regardless of match-up. The WRs will probably be similar to last year, Brees will throw to whoever is open, making a consistent #2 WR hard to find. As for the D, don't let the 27 points confuse you. The scoring drives were short due to long returns. They gave up nothing rushing and looked good on pass D. The one long pass play was after starter Tracy Porter was hurt, and rookie Malcolm Jenkins was beaten by CJ and then missed a tackle.
As for the Lions, Stafford looked atrocious. It wasn't the regular 1st start stuff, it was a complete lack of touch. He was like a right-handed, un-athletic Mike Vick. Everything was a laser. On one throw he had a WR open between the LB and DB, and he whistled it 5 feet over his head despite having time to throw. If I was a Lion fan, I'd be concerned. I liked Kevin Smith, but his O-Line gave him nothing. He looked his best receiving and was very nifty both is space and in close quarters. I'd love to see this kid behind a decent line. The WRs were hard to figure out because Stafford was so erratic. The D and O-Line are barely NCAA quality.
Disclaimer, this is from a Saint
