Not looking for any advise here, so please don't turn this into a WSIS thread or take it that way. I simply want hear about some guys that you DO PLAN ON STARTING even though it is risky. I'm rather sure we had these threads about every week last year and they stayed in the SP so long as people stayed on topic. Call it risky for whatever reason you want. Here's mine. I'm going to start Ronnie Brown despit a poor preseason vs the stout Pitt D at home on Prime time TV. Call me crazy, but I (and anyone who has him) burnt a 1st rounder on this guy. It's time to roll the dice!

Pretty funny that you're even considering benching your FIRST ROUND PICKin week one. Didn't you draft him in the first cuz you thought he'd be a stud RB?For me, my #2 RB choice is between DFoster vs. ATL and T Jones vs. GB.That decision is gonna go down to the wire for me, I'd bet...

Ummm, well I do have Gore, J.Lewis and McGahee behind him. Either way, this is off topic. :wall:

I'm plugging Wal Blundy into my line-up, 4 TDs in one game baby!
One of my starts will have to be risky week one. JJ against Jax (I envision a grisly 16 carry, 39 yard game), Bush or McCalister against Cleveland (if I start one of them the other is guarenteed to to be superior), or Lundy against Philly, who I think can be run on. I'm starting Lundy. I have faith in the Houston ground game until proven otherwise.

I drafted guys in order, so I have to start them until they prove me wrong. Starters that I might regret (spread over 3 leagues):

Bush (NO HAS to show some O life - it's a PPR, so may be ok)

M. Bel X 3 times (unless there is another starter announced - right)

Lundy as a Flex (over Mush. vs the Packers secondary)

Edge (they HAVE TO look good against the 49ers - was there a preseason this year? - good to forget)

Andre Johnson (despite the fact that he's Andre Johnson)

I loved this thread last year but it was named "I am starting ____________ over __________" or something to that affect.

Anyway I am making a "risky" move by starting my RB3 Frank Gore vs Arizona over my RB2 Warrick Dunn vs Carolina. Actually I dont think its a very risky move.

That's a good move. I'm so tempted to start Gore vs. Zona. But it will difficult for him to leapfrog FWP and the Caddy.

Yeah, this will be one of the few weeks that I probably don't start Dunn. I'm starting D Foster week 1, over W Dunn. I think Carolina's run D will be nasty this year.

Bush vs. Lundy vs. Portis

Does anyone know if that thread yesterday saying Portis would not play, is legit?

Bingo! I knew I recalled something like this. Thanks shady. So I guess I'll restate mine to: I'm starting Ronnie Brown vs the Steelers Thur night over J. Lewis and F. Gore.

I'm starting Droughns(vs NO) over K Jones(vs SEA).

I'm also starting K Jones over C Taylor(vs WAS) - different league and I will be at the game.

debating on Droughns over Bush... playing each other, at home in CLE, NO could have the worst defense in football.

This would have to be as good as it gets for Droughns this season, so why not.

i was debating lundy over dunn.... but i want to wait for the houston situation to shake out a few more weeks

We have to submit starting lineups this week? Huh, who knew? :bag:

Code:
Starting Kellen Winslow Jr. vs NO over Alge Crumpler at Carolina

I wouldnt play matchups with TEs. Ive found this to be way too risky. Defensive matchups vs TEs is harder to predict than other positions (QB, RB, DEF, WR). Id stick with one guy all year (and in this case Id say stick with Crumpler).

i'm debating the same thing, but i'm leaning towards dunn. i'm also debating between keyshawn johnson (atl) and joe jurevicius (NO). i'm leaning toward Joe J, purely because of quality of opponent. hmmm, maybe that's why i should be starting gore.

I am more playing my hunch that Winslow Jr. will return to his warrior form of his college days and be a stud. Week 1 of his first season back, should be the time for him to do so! I own him in both my TE required leagues, so I believe he will be a stud!

For my WR2 - Santana Moss (v. Minnesota) or Mushin Muhammad (v. Green Bay)

Admittedly I need to do the Vikings defense, but I know that Green Bay's defense looked like poo against Cincy last week....

PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE. Come on. Frank Gore could turn out to be Barlow 2 years ago. Dunn has been a solid producer for years. In the begining of the year I think it is risky to make these types of plays until you know how your players will play. Plus many leagues start of playing a division game and you HAVE TO WIN THEM FOR SURE to have any shot at the ring.If you drafted Dunn before Gore there was a reason for that and barring any injury I think you go with the money picks early

IMHO

:bag: :bag: Corey Dillon over Kevan Barlow. it's gonna be a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnngg year.

I'm starting Frank Gore over Reggie Bush and Chester Taylor

Strangley enough, I think Gore is the least risky play, despite the fact that I drafted him last of the three.

Starting D Foster and T Jones

over

L Jordan and F Gore

Pretty confident with the Jones pick as my RB2, however Gore is tempting. I'm really struggling with Jordan's matchup, combined with the Raider's offensive showings so far. At the moment, I'm sitting Jordan in favor of Foster. This is a NO-ppr league, 6pts all TDs, bonus at 100yds.

May mull this one over up until Sunday ... :loco:

Sounds like no one really knows what Gore is going to produce against Arizona this week. FBG says it will be one of Gore's toughest matchups all season because the Cards are nasty against the run. But Rotoworld calls it "a great matchup for Gore" and have him ranked near their top 10 this week. I have to decide between Gore & Thomas Jones and might just take the conservative play in Jones. But its clear many of us are intruiged with the talent/opportunity of Mr. Gore!

TJ (Pack) over Dunn (Car)

Good Lord, I have Thomas Jones just about everywhere again this year.

Starting: Bush over Thomas Jones

-T. Jones would be the smart move but it is week one and we have no idea on how things will turn out. Week 1 is the best week for risks. Plus if you lose you can have a better waiver pickup in some leagues.

Right now i'm starting Thomas Jones vs Green Bay and DeShawn Foster vs Atlanta over Cadilac Williams vs Baltimore (Caddy will be missing both his tackles) and Reggie Bush vs Cleveland (The Rookie 1st rounder)

Im starting D. Foster over J. Lewis in one league and over C. Taylor in another... I almost have to do this im thinking...

Im starting Keyshawn and A. Johnson over Mushin...

Lose all your games so you can have the #1 waiver wire pick every week.

With Portis looking doubtful I have to choose between Chris Brown, Lundy, Benson and Musa as my RB2 (started FWP). Leaning toward Brown, but still may consider Lundy. Jeff Fisher is not helping me on this one. :hot:

Gore vs. AZ over Lundy vs. PHL.

Arizona abused the 49ers running game last year while Philadelphia could be run on.

But, SF upgraded their OL and Gore has looked good running the ball in the preseason.

With Kubiak as the HC I'm not willing to gamble on Lundy splitting too many carries with Morency the 1st game of the year.

After this concept proves laughably bad I will be secure as the reverse :moneybag: gurru for the rest of the season.

I have the same choice to make with my Flex spot. My thought is it is GB and Jones wants to shut up the Benson discussion. More importantly, Benson is just coming back from injury so I have to think his carries will be limited.

starting Julius Jones over Dunn currently.

Have a tough call with Lundy/Chester/Ahman...leaning towards chester.

Matt Jones vs. D-Jax...leaning towards Jackson.
