Week 10 Coaches Corner (1 Viewer)

Dexter Jackson (Cin SS).....Any one have thoughts on him?
:goodposting: I was thinking the same thing....for me its two of him, Clinton Hart, and Atogwe. He really hasn't done too much in the 3 weeks since he's come back from injury...but SD is a prime matchup for him. I think I'm going to roll with him.
Yeah, this would be the kind of bind that warrants a look at Jackson. No argument here. Hope he has a season-high fluke of a week against LT and Gates. His Week 1 performance against LJ and Gonzo was :X . Crossing my fingers for you.

Bit of a quandary here -My DLs (must start 2)-KiwanukaGrantSchobelMy DBs (must start 2) -BoulwareBob SandersKielAtogweShaun WilliamsMy LBs (must start 2) -WitherspoonRyansSimsI also get to start one flex defensive player.At DL, I clearly go with Grant and Kiwanuka as Schobel won't do much against Indy.AT LB I clearly go with Witherspoon and Ryans.At DB, my only must start is Sanders. Do I go with Boulware if he is a starter against STL? Kiel has been pedestrian, Atogwe has been non-existent, and Shaun Williams has a bad matchup against TB.Obviously this leaves me with Ernie Sims as my flex player.So do I roll the dice with Boulware or do I roll the dice with Williams????Edit to add - if I acquire Marcus Washington in a trade does he supplant Ernie Sims as my normal #3 LB? Points are 1 per UT, 2 per INT, SACK, or SAFETY and 6 pts per TD.
Agree with all of the above. I'd go with Boulware if Babineaux's out.

It's hard to assign Moore more than a one year contract at this point. If he's moved back outside next season in a 3-4 front he doesn't have much value and there's nothing (other than Smith's eyes and Ulbrich's sucktasticness) that keep the Niners from relegating Moore to a specialist's role again in 06. What took them so long to get to this point after Moore's 05 stats is perplexing.
From the office of the President of the Brandon Moore Fan Club :D The reason Moore has been stuck as the "swing man" instead of full time duty is simple. Mike Nolan wants to have a swing guy along the OL and LBs. Its the reason that Kwame Harris, responsible for 10 sacks this year, is still on the field ahead of Adam Snyder and that Ulbrich/Smith are ahead of Moore.As a Niner fan, I'm hoping for a change in philosophy and that Nolan truly starts putting the best players on the field. Get rid of Kwame--put Snyder out there. Put Moore in the middle where he belongs. However, I'm not holding my breath on Moore>Smith, as Nolan sees Smith as a leader of the team. I'm hoping the change is next year, as Smith has really fallen off...and it wouldn't be tough to absorb the cap hit from cutting him. Ulbrich is fine at SLB but should get competition next offfseason.

Yeah, in 32 team leagues, you do end up with fun situations like this. :D Thanks Jene.

Sounded like Phillips has been practicing well this week and is good to go against Cinci. With Merriman out (and now Castillo also out), am I off base to think that I can expect Phillips to have a big game this weekend?Starting 2 LB's, my other options are Al Wilson (who I love against Oakland, plus Denver has also got its own injury problems) and Gerald Hayes (who I am hoping is going to prove he was worth all the money he was just guaranteed, plus he has been very consistent this season.) I think either of those two are pretty sure to do well, but I'm weighing the risk that Phillips could do outstanding or do nothing.Tackle-1, Asst-0.5, Int-4, Fum-3, Sack-3Thoughts?
I'm waiting one more week on Phillips to make sure he's healthy. Isn't Wilson dinged up (concussion week 9)? I think he is playing, though. Like Hayes...

Wilson was dinged up, yes, but he was just upgraded and appears to be playing this weekend. There is some worry that he will get pulled if Denver builds a lead, but I may be counting on Denver to keep it interesting as they have tended to do this season and keep their 1st stringers (ie. Wilson) in.

I need to pick 2 DL. 2 LB and 2 DB to start.

Scoring

Tackle=1

Assist=.5

Sack=2

FF=1

FR=2

Int=4

PD=.5

Here is who I have with projected starters in bold.

DL

K. Gregg- Balt vs Ten

T. Suggs- Balt vs Ten

Berry- Ari vs Dal

Kiwanuka- NYG vs Chi

I am leaning towards Gregg and Kiwanuka because Gregg is consistant and Kiwanuka has played well since starting

LB

Vilma- NYJ vs NE

D. Ryans- Hou vs Jac

Pierce- NYG vs Chi

I feel all 3 of these guys have good matchups so going with consistancy.

DB

R. Williams- Dal vs Ari

K. Rhodes- NYJ vs NE

A. Henry- Dal vs Ari

Roy has been disappointing but faces pass happy offense. Cant bench Rhodes for Henry.

Thoughts? Would you change anything?

I'm not sure I'd start Gregg over Berry, who has a nice matchup this week, but with the tackle heavy scoring system I have no problem with the safer, more reliable option. And something tells me you're right about Vilma over Pierce this week even though I didn't like it at first glance. The Bears haven't been the greatest matchup this season and Grossman on the road means the Bears probably aren't going to be racking up rushing stats this week.

Do I take the chance and start Urlacher this wee? Right now, starting Sims, Trotter, & Tatupu. If yes, who should I put back on the bench?

Whose the better options this week: Kelly Gregg or Darren Howard or Dumervil or K. Edwards?

Scoring: Tkl=2, asst=1, int/fr/sk=6, ff=3, pd=2

Urlacher is a much better play than Sims if healthy. He practiced Friday and wants to play. No way to know for sure, though, and he may miss time even if he starts. Depends on your risk tolerance. I like Dumervil among the four options listed for the huge day possibility. He's easily got the best matchup. If Grant Wistrom can beat Gallery for two sacks, Dumervil should bring good numbers.

With R. Lewis out. D. Smith vs Lions or J. Seau vs Jets.

Smith has been on the decline and Seau had a solid week last week. Solo tackles 2 pts sacks 4 pts, turnovers 4 pts, 3 pt bonus for over 5 tackles.

I'd start Smith -- the Texans have been a reasonable matchup despite facing some pretty good defenses. I don't trust Seau. Jets could abandon the run early if behind and Seau doesn't play much in the nickel. He's too big a risk for a 1-2-0.

LOL. That's Derek Smith for SF vs the Lions.

Aaaah. Glllll with all that.Suppose I'll stick with the Smith. Neither of them are particularly compelling. Sorry.
